Every couple of years I think to myself "EPL isn't that bad, I should give them another try". And without failure, it always ends in regret. I somehow have the misconception that their food is inexpensive, but it always costs me more than I would have figured. And then there's what you get. I ordered a classic chicken burrito, but upgraded to chopped breast and extra cheese, because their stringy regular chicken is gross and usually in such small quantities that you barely notice it's there. And the extra cheese because, again, I actually want to experience its presence. This time they actually pulled it off to a reasonable degree. I could tell that there was chicken, and it was the right kind of chicken (I've tried this because and never actually gotten the chopped upgraded meat despite paying for it), and the cheese was a realistic amount. Of course EPL isn't in the business of giving you what you pay for as far as value is concerned. It was still a mostly rice burrito with a few beans. But the big disappointing was the taco I ordered. I upgraded the chicken, added cheese, and asked for no onions or cilantro. It came with what I ordered, and what I didn't want too. For $4 none the less. Remember that this is a $2.50 item anywhere else, and they couldn't get it right. So I had to throw it away because I can't eat it, and couldn't pick out the stuff I asked them to not include. So literally every time I come here I over pay and they get the order wrong. And they weren't busy. There was one other couple on the restaurant. I'd also like to point out that, although I didn't order any, their sides cost more than some of their menu items. Like in the $7 range for a side of steamed broccoli or mac n cheese. Everything was absolutely perfect! We ordered a 8 piece chicken family meal, and every single item was fresh, hot, and delicious. The tortillas were soft, the salsa was packed with flavor, especially the avocado kind! The chicken was exactly what I wanted! The pinto beans, coleslaw and mashed potatoes were exactly what we hoped for. And don't even get me started on the churros which were still warm and perfectly crisp! I was in the mood for a light dinner and happened to see a coupon in the mail for a $10 Mexican Caesar salad from El Pollo Loco -- and I'm so glad I stopped by. The drive-thru was quick and efficient, and the cashier was friendly and welcoming. But the real star was the salad. It was genuinely delicious -- crisp greens, generous chunks of juicy chicken, avocado, cotija cheese, crunchy tortilla strips, chili-lime seasoning, salsa, and Caesar dressing all layered together really well. I have always been a fan of El Pollo Loco and this location didn't disappoint. First of super friendly and great service for a fast food joint. Inside restaurant was impeccably clean! Food was also very good and look this isn't 5 star dining but for quick Mexican food this is my favorite. I love how they always have freshly grilled chicken on the spot. Tonight I had the double chicken street corn bowl. Now there was nothing street corn about this besides some cojita cheese but all the other flavors were there and hit the spot! The crispy tacos are amazing. I love them. The shell is actually crispy, not hard and stale. You know what I mean, I'm sure. You know how when you order a "crispy" taco sometimes the shell will taste as if it was fried last night and then put in a microwave to warm up. (I am a creature of habit, when I like something I usually will eat it again and again and then again, until I find my next favorite food item.) Anyways you really should try their crispy tacos. This place is beyond disgusting. I went to the drive thru at around 4 pm on 6-2-19 and ordered 3 chicken burritos. I bite down on what I think is only chicken but the whole bone is inside. This is not a mistake you make when preparing a burrito. It looks maliciously placed to perfection. Obviously the irresponsible workers In this location do not care about a lawsuit.
