I really like this El Pollo Loco location- easy parking and easy to get to. The staff is consistently helpful, especially when ordering through the kiosk. They are always nice and ask if we need any help (which we usually do ) before we even get a chance to do so. They always look very busy, working hard. I'm a big salsa fan and they always give enough for my order. Place is always clean and looked after. I've gone at different times and always find a table. I stopped going to certain restaurants due to rude staff, so having friendly staff makes a lot of difference - so thank you. I have been visiting this location occasionally for a few years now. My last visit was earlier this week. Typically I order ahead via the El Pollo Loco app. My order this week was for an 8 piece family meal, extra flour & corn tortillas, and a lot of salsa. The staff prepared my pick up order perfectly this week. Very rarely are there issues when I order ahead in the app. Every time I have visited the staff has been kind and attentive. During the visits when my app order was not ready by the time I came in person for the pick up, the staff would let me know how much longer it would take or even offer a free drink while waiting. I've ordered via drive thru about 2 or 3 times within the last 3 years. And via drive thru there were never issues. The location inside has always been clean and well taken care of. Been here to the Clairmont store on Genesee 4 times in last 2 weeks. I've ordered quesadilla combos 3 times and a 2-piece dinner once. On the plus side, the place is spotless and orders are quickly filled, though often without all the items you've paid for. Now for the negatives. Do you have to be Mexican to work here? Seems like it. Nothing wrong with that, however hire smarter people who are self motivated. The ability to speak English is very important. It seems like everyone's friend or cousin was hired because they knew someone. Hiring people at random off the street could possibly be an improvement. I wasn't thrilled with today's visit. First off the app isn't as user friendly as I prefer. I couldn't find a way to redeem my gift card which was the deciding factor over KFC or any of the other chicken restaurants nearby. I stop in at this El Pollo Loco every once in a while, and have nailed down my preferences to a two-piece chicken meal (not the same as a combo), with corn and rice on the side and corn tortillas. The chicken is really excellent. It's marinated and always grilled perfectly, and it's chopped Mexican style. The corn is pretty good. The rice is ok. But other than those (and the coleslaw, also ok) the sides I've had at El Pollo Loco are meh. The corn tortillas are flavorless junk and super thin, but I still use them. I make small rice-filled tacos (or sometimes with coleslaw) and add lots of their salsa roja and salsa fresca. This location could use some interior refreshing. For example, there's a booth in a very visible location where the seat cushion has been badly torn for over a year, without any attention. At least recently they've been cleaning up the tables and floor better than they were a while back. They have a senior discount, for those who might be interested, but you have to ask. read more

The avocado on the salad was blackened it should not even been put on the salad. There was hardly any tomatoes plus the lettuce was not shredded. I like that the Crazy Chicken A.K.A. El Pollo Loco is making burritos these days. I had the LA Spicy which came with grilled chicken, guacamole, shredded cabbage, cheese, rice, beans, pickled jalapenos, avocado salsa, and pico de gallo salsa. It was a good burrito and came with a decent amount of tender chicken, although I did feel that it was over salted. More chicken would of been nice but with less salt of course. Perhaps I should of had the double chicken. Both the pinto bean and the Mexican rice were cooked well and tasted good in the burrito. The guacamole was pretty good and was quite creamy and more like creamy salsa. The pico de gallo was okay. It did not taste very fresh. I liked the way they lightly pressed the flour tortilla on the hot griddle and gave it a light crust and light brown color, not to mention a nice crunch.
