The worst chicken we ever had. Service was minimal, food was horrible & over priced. No more

The restaurant stinks like the sewer. It was very strong upon entering the restaurant. It made the whole restaurant feel dirty. The lighting looked like a dungeon which did not help either. I was hoping this was not an indication of the quality of the food but when the scent of the sewer over powered the restaurant, I should have turned around and walked out. Upon waiting for the cashier, it took about 7 minutes for each order for to be placed. I was customer three so it took about 20 minutes to get to to the counter. I don't know if this particular associate was new but it took a very long time for me to even place my order. Once I finished paying, it didn't take to long to receive my order but the person calling my name out gave no time for me to finish filling my soda before she kept calling my name over and over more loudly each time impatiently. I asked for extra avocado salsa but she gave me to pico de gallo sauce instead and then said, "Is that enough?!" At that time I was just grateful to get my food and get out of the restaurant. The tables were dirty and there was trash on the floor. I would not have stayed there to eat if you paid me to. Once I got home I opened my tostada bowl. For the price I paid for it I should have received more. My tostada shell was VERY stale. The dressing was so watery it has no flavor and it basically wilted my already wilted salad. I visit many different El Pollo Loco restaurants on a monthly basis. This is the first time I've visited this location. I usually feel like I get a value for my money. This time however I truly feel ripped off. Try the other locations. Do not visit this one. read more

The chipotle, burritos here are actually good. The environment is average.. this is definitely a quick fast food spot if you want good chicken though, it's good to grab a fast plate. read more

The service at this location is fantastic. I drive from Thousand Oaks to the Simi Valley location because their chicken is always hot and fresh. The young lady,Yazmin, working at the front counter is very nice. This is one of the better locations for sure. read more

The food is typical Pollo Loco food, no significant change from their other restaurants. However, it was the customer service stood out. Ordered: tostada chicken salad with creamy cilantro dressing, chicken nachos, 2 drumstick kids meals one with corn and one with Mac and cheese and 4 churros. What I got: Tostada Chicken salad (no dressing), soggy chicken nachos, 1 kids meal and 4 churros with no cinnamon and sugar( just fried oily bread). I called them to them know what I was missing and about churros and the gentleman said I can come back and get it or he can refund me and I choose to go back since I didn't cook dinner and my kids needed their meals. Once I got there the gentleman said they would redo it for me. So I waited for a few minutes. The young lady who was asked to prepare my food asked me again what was missing and I told her and she had attitude and made a sound with her mouth like she didn't believe me. She redid my order and I saw everything was there and when I got him, the churros still didn't have any cinnamon or sugar and was still very oily and soggy. Worst el pollo loco experience ever. The manager Veronica is not only rude, she's racist. Every time I come in she's kind and pleasant to customers in front of me . When it's my turn to order she has an attitude. She gave two customers in front of me a coupon to use for their purchase. When l asked for a coupon she told me that I would receive it in my bag after I made my purchase. She's tried to argue with me stating that I didn't ask for certain condiments to not be included in my meal, when in fact I did. She talks shit in Spanish thinking that I won't understand and she's always rolling her eyes at me. Anytime I get a pollo bowl I'm ALWAYS able to substitute it for broccoli. When I asked her she immediately had an attitude and said verbatim " No that's why it's $5. All she could've said was "sorry I can't accommodate that" even though every other employee / manager at this establishment has. The other managers/ employees have never given me issues. It's sad because I love this restaurant even though Veronica makes dining there very unpleasant. read more

I went to your store last night . I asked the lady manager for some salsa and cilantro dressing . She was incredibly rude , and spoke terrible English . It was so difficult to get more salsa . First of all, hats off to everyone working during the pandemic. You are amazing. That said, I walked out of the restaurant and just tossed my order in the trash. The "manager" or whoever was putting the lid on my food had a mask on, but the bottom of his mouth was exposed as he called out orders to the crew, aka his breath was ALL over my food and the surrounding area. I almost asked for my money back but I was just so horrified that I grabbed the bag and ran out of there. Not good. Also, annoying customers, the mask goes over your nose. read more

Stopped in at 11am on a Friday, it was pretty busy at that time. We were in for a three piece chicken meal with sides and a Salad Bowl. I paid $18 and change for these two meals. I've been to many El Pollo Loco locations numerous times and this place seriously disappoints on a service and cleanliness standpoint. Complaints: 1. Cashier who was taking our order was doing side work of filling plastic baggies with uncooked broccoli. She wore no gloves. She was handling food and money. 2. Same cashier assumed that I wanted my salad as a meal and charged for it that way without asking first. I realized this error after I paid and was given a huge drink cup that I wasn't expecting. 3. My daughter found a hair in her mashed potatoes. 4. I asked for a second side of dressing and was told that I couldn't have it unless I paid extra. When I heard this, I said your cups of dressing are tiny and there was so little dressing originally on my salad it was not enjoyable. It shouldn't cost more to enjoy the salad. The employee reluctantly gave me the second cup of dressing. By that time, I lost my appetite. The attitude was off-putting. The food was as expected taste wise. This chain chicken is always cooked well and is tasty. For the complaints above, I'd think twice before visiting this location ever again. Another negative: NO drive-through here. read more

This is the only el pollo loco on the planet that has ever decided "you know what, screw this person just give them random salsas we have too many of" and "well, you had a lot of cheese in your hand until the third of 6 buttitos, the other 4 get none". I want to be clear on that. Because el pollo loco is never my forst choice in this world. But evwrywhere else I've been, you get what you order and pay for. These people, though. Holy smokes. Random sauces, inconsistent buttitos, none of what you need to eat it. And pollo loco burritos need sauce the most, not middle or least, they are completely innedible without my sauce. Anywho. Like 3x these guys send two normal burritos one with a sprinkle of cheese and 3 without, missing koat the sauces I ordered, and everything else sucking. There are still good el pollo locos out there, but this has been multiple misses over years so this on is the outlier that is irredeemable. There is no chain that we don't need our sauces for, either, is there? But they give them to us and don't screw us over so we have to cook after waiting and paying extra. 8 years after my initial review, nothing has changed!! What happened to the citrus marinade your commercials brag about? I can buy raw chicken and put it on the grill and it would definitely taste better! Our dinner was awful!! The chicken was hardly marinaded!! We also asked for corn tortillas but we're given Flour!! First time as a customer ordered online 0407 pm and curbside pick-up at 4:30. I figured give some time. Arrived at 4:30, there was only two stalls for curbside and both occupied. I click on "I'm here" at arrival. Waited 8 mins so finally called. Came out after a min. But he he was questioning why i parked a cross the Street, by this time a stall opened up right before he came out and started gesturing why i parked across the street. This now irritated me and i quickly told him there was a car parked there and that been waiting now 10 mins. That was the only time he apologized. I was excited despite that b/c i was looking forward in having El pollo again. The chicken was luke warm and looks like its been re heated. The avocado taste like water down, the salsa was not what i remember and the coleslaw probably didn't have any mayo and taste like its not refrigerated. Every time I have been in this location my service has been good, up until recently. The girl working the register was clueless and asked us more then once our order. On top of that we couldn't even understand her, she mumbled every question to us and we could barely hear her. I know I'm soft spoken, but my God I had no idea what she was saying. Unlike the other cashier next to her, she was louder, and easy to understand. Don't be letting people who can't speak up and ask the same question to us multiple times work a register !! Secondly we asked her a few things about what was in some of the new food item; this is where the clueless part kicks in. She had no idea what was in the item, that's when you ask another employee, instead of saying just look at the picture. Ya like I can really see exactly what's in that little picture ?!
