Amazing food and the owner is very nice and attentive. We first tried this spot for breakfast and were very happy with the service and food. We came again for lunch a few weeks later and happy with everything again! Meat Mexican food I have found yet :) the homemade tortillas are great and the taste of the food is not Tex Méx like so many other places in Houston. The music, lighting is also great!

Finally got around to trying El Portal Mexican Grill. This little gem is unfortunately a bit off the beaten path, hidden on a residential street on the south edge of Oak Ridge, and overlooked by many including us until we made it a point to check it out when jonesing for some sizzling beef fajitas. It's everything a great Tex-Mex restaurant should be... very attractive, very clean, great service, excellent prices, and a mixed menu of wonderful typical Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican dishes. Very glad we found it.

Amazing beef tacos, incredible salsa and chips too + great service/very attentive local spot

Went for breakfast and loved it!! Chips were fresh and salsa was hot and had a great flavor. Breakfast chilaquiles plate was great. Could've had more potatoes, but was delicious. The tortillas are homemade and had a great buttery flavor. Service was superb. Very cute, clean place! Can't wait to come back.

La Villa platter comes with small avocado salad, cheese puff shell and a taco.

Simple and flavorful entrees, plenty of choices. A family friendly establishment with pleasant ambiance. For a Mexican Restaurant compare to many in the area, portions are plateful and very reasonable pricing. Always greeted and exceptionally good service with constant attention to customers. Well lit are located within a neighborhood street. Few parking spaces in front and many behind this restaurant building on their property. Hope to see their service, quality and quantity is maintained. No disappointments for us so far. Good for lunch, dinner small parties and to go.

Had chicken enchiladas, meat was very dry and tough, not fresh at all. Salsa was served warm, it was ok, not great. Would not recommend.

From the jump, the vibe was relaxed but polished--perfect for eating alone without feeling awkward or rushed. The space was bright, clean, and had that easy brunch energy that makes you want to linger just a little longer. The food? Solid. I went the savory route and everything came out hot, well-seasoned, and clearly made with intention. The potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside (as they should be), and the eggs were fluffy and flavorful without being drowned in nonsense. You can tell this is a kitchen that knows breakfast and doesn't need to show off about it. I also treated myself to a cocktail because... brunch. Service was friendly and attentive without hovering, which I appreciate when I'm dining solo. I had everything I needed, when I needed it, and never felt forgotten. All in all, this was a really enjoyable brunch experience. Great food, good drinks, chill atmosphere. I'd absolutely come back--solo or with company. Sometimes you just need a good plate, a good drink, and your own peace, and Another Broken Egg delivered all three.

This…read morefamily-owned bakery and diner at 1330 Lake Woodlands Dr knows exactly how to make a special day even sweeter with their legendary homemade treats. We went all-in on the desserts, and every single one was outstanding. The chocolate pie was rich, velvety, and deeply satisfying--perfectly balanced sweetness with a flaky crust that melted in my mouth. The pecan pie was a Texas classic done right: loaded with crunchy, fresh pecans in a gooey, caramel-like filling that tasted incredibly fresh and homemade. And the cream puffs covered in chocolate? Absolute perfection--light, airy pastry filled with luscious cream and generously draped in silky chocolate ganache. Each bite was a delightful contrast of textures and flavors. The portions are generous, the quality is top-notch (fresh, no preservatives, old-fashioned goodness), and the bakery case full of options made it hard to stop at just these. It's the ideal spot for anyone with a serious sweet tooth--whether dining in for that cozy atmosphere or grabbing treats to go. House of Pies turned my birthday into a memorable indulgence I'll be thinking about for a long time. If you love exceptional pies and pastries, this place is a must-visit in The Woodlands / Houston area. We'll be back for more soon! Highly, highly recommend. We were in Houston from Dallas for a baseball tournament and decided to stop by House of Pies…read more After hearing so many people talk about it, we had to see what all the hype was about, and it definitely did not disappoint. The selection of pies is incredible. Honestly, I can't think of anywhere in the Dallas area that offers this kind of variety. If you're a pie lover, this place feels like paradise. The highlight of our visit was the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie. In all my years living in Texas, I don't think I've ever seen strawberry rhubarb pie offered at a restaurant. It was absolutely amazing, especially when paired with a scoop of ice cream. We also tried the Chocolate Cream Pie, French Black Bottom Pie, and Coconut Cream Pie, and every single one was excellent. Each pie had a fresh, homemade quality that made it easy to see why this place has such a loyal following. The food was fresh, hot, and served promptly. Beyond the food, the customer service was outstanding. The staff was attentive, friendly, polite, and genuinely seemed to care about providing a great experience. It's becoming increasingly rare to find that level of service, and it made a positive impression on us. The overall experience reminded me of Marie Callender's, but with better food and a much larger personality. There's a nostalgic charm to House of Pies that makes you want to stay a little longer and save room for another slice. The only thing preventing me from giving a full five-star review is the non-transparent service fee. I would much rather see menu prices increased by 2-3% and have the fee eliminated altogether. The final cost would be the same, but the pricing would feel more straightforward and customer-friendly. That minor criticism aside, House of Pies was one of the highlights of our trip to Houston. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu and, of course, more pie.

My husband got a hot snickers coffee 4/5 more of a flavor drink than a coffee (for all my avid coffee drinkers iykyk) Next I got the triple jam.
