Absolutely fantastic! I had been there years before with the prior ownership but there is a new owner, a former employee. Food was fantastic, margarita was wonderful, chips and salsa were excellent and service was outstanding!!! Kodi, our waitress (I hope I spelled it right) was amazing. She was friendly, had a sense of humor, and just gave us great service. The bus boy also was fantastic.....friendly and did a great job. We thought one of the gentleman who thanked us when we left might have been the owner. It was. We told him we needed to talk to him about his waitress and bus boy and he was concerned Lol. We told him how wonderful everything was, especially his employees. He was very friendly and appreciative. I'm leaving this because this is the type of establishment that needs to be supported, especially with the high overhead today. Can't say enough. STAY AWAY! Not only does this dump deliver piss poor quality food, but they are FILTHY. First off, the place is carpeted, and it smells like it hasn't been cleaned since opening in 1985. Crusty silverware on the tables, pitchers of rancid salsa sitting out uncovered and not refrigerated, and FLIES EVERYWHERE. The food was awful. Old dry meat. Tamale that seemed to be made from clay. Greasy, stale, tasteless, borderline rotten food. I guarantee this place would end up on one of those kitchen nightmare shows, if anyone cared enough to report it. Their (overpriced) margarita comes in a pint glass, has the consistency of a slurpee, and definitely does not have any tequila. 5 members of dull waitstaff for 4 tables, and yet it was a chore to flag down my surly waitress for the check. Very good, old school Mexican place. The kind of food you expect from a tradional mexican restaurant. The prices are more than fair, the 3 piece combo was great none of them are to large but just perfect sizes so you eat them all. Nicely flavored beans and rice to go along with those. We've decided to never visit this restaurant again. On prior visits, the food was only mediocre. But today, it was bad. The chicken tasted like fish, almost like it was old, and possibly rotten. Also, the portion sizes were small. Not like most really good Mexican food establishments that make sure the plate is full, and welcoming. We were never offered sour cream. We got three entrees and four drinks. Two margaritas, a tea and a child size juice. The drinks cost us $18.00 and the food cost us $22.00. The food price was OK for a restaurant that serves good, quality food and good portions, which this one did not. The drinks were way overpriced. The service was alright, but the waitress was a little touchy, and somewhat rude. The place could also use a good cleaning. read more

I've been here a few times and every time it is consistently good. I wouldn't call this place my favorite Mexican joint but it's definitely not terrible. The decor is a little dated and could use an update. The customer service is so so. On the one hand they are very nice but on the other they are kind of inattentive and unorganized. We had one guy take our drink order, then another lady take our food order and deliver our food then never saw either of them again. The food is actually pretty good. This is our go-to Mexican food restaurant (we love Javier's but they're closed half the time we are in the mood). El Pueblito had very reasonable prices, amazing salsa and fresh chips, and large portion sizes with great service consistently on every visit. Margaritas here are good, large, and tasty. We enjoy the chimichangas, enchiladas, tacos, burritos, and I'm rather partial to the chile rellenos. As is typical, meals come with refried beans and rice and both are very good. The restaurant itself is a little dated with dingy lighting and kitschy decor but that, to me, adds to its charm. There's a bar in the back, plus another room with a pool table and games. We love visiting here for good food and a relaxed place to enjoy hanging out with friends in a casual setting. read more

I just purchased 2 hard shell tacos that was a lunch special for $1.99. Chicken, beef, carnitas and carne asada were offered. I asked for 1 chicken and 1 beef. They told me that they couldn't do that. That I would have to order 4 tacos just to be able to have a mix, as if the tacos were pre-made. This is terrible on part of customer service. If they are all priced the same, I should be able to have exactly what I ask for. Second, I then ordered chips and salsa to go with my tacos. They hanged me $2.00 for a lunch sack bag of chips and $3.50 for 2 ounces of salsa. Biggest rip off ever. Typically they are free or $2 for the pair to go. My wife and I had El Pueblito for the first time tonight, and it was some of the best Mexican food we've had in the area. We ordered chicken and beef fajitas, and both meats were cooked perfectly. The veggies were seasoned well and not burnt the way that they are at most restaurants. Best of all, my water glass was never empty, my beer mug was never warm, and the owners took time to greet us on the way in and on the way out. My husband and I wanted to give this place a try, from the outside it doesn't really appear to be open, but they are! The building is old but has charm....From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and sat by a very friendly man, and immediately after sitting we were brought chips and salsa. Their chips are delicious and the salsa was fresh and spicy. Our server was very friendly and attentive. My husband ordered the taco and enchilada (both ground beef) combo with beans and rice. The taco was hard shell was so good! Their enchilada sauce was delicious. Great beans and rice. I got the carne asada burrito. The carne asada was flavorful and tender. The burrito was huge! You want a great deal of chips and homemade salsa you got it here! They make their chips by hand everyday fresh and keep them warmed for our eats. I always order a 26 and a cup of adondigaus. Make sure you try the shredded beef on your enchiladas. No one makes it better. The spices are secret, I been bringing new people and family here for years. You really want authentic Mexican. HORRIBLE! "Longtime place for classic Mexican fare"? NOT! I've heard that some local restaurants pay folks to write good reviews. One would think that a Mexican restaurant with a 4.5 star rating that is operated by Mexicans would be able to prepare Mexican food, right? WRONG! You could randomly bring in winos from the street to prepare the food and it likely would be far superior. The ONLY decent thing about the place is the frozen Margaritas, which save this place from a ZERO STAR rating, but even they have a problem: they're served in mugs and this causes the crushed ice to quickly separate and float on top, so you're continually having to remix it. Using standard Margarita glasses would cure this needless problem. Salsa is supposed to be spicy and flavorful and have some body to it. Theirs is extremely bland and watery. Awful, worse than you can buy at your local supermarket. The taco shells also are store bought and, as if that weren't bad enough, are extremely greasy and slippery in dishes like burritos. Greasy food is nearly impossible to avoid in this place. The burritos are 70% thick soft shell and the ground beef is completely tasteless, no spices at all to provide some flavor. We were constantly having to shoo away flies, and the dang overhead fans kept blowing the napkins off our laps. The atmosphere is dreary and the service is terrible. Trying to get a server is an exercise in exasperation even when there's not many customers. You have to shout to flag someone down for the simplest things like napkins and, believe it or not, the bill. We won't be back.... read more

The restaurant should be called "El Bland-ito" as this was the general consensus of my party regarding their food. Super slow service in a pretty empty restaurant. Not a good start when the server does not know what a Michelada is or if the bar serves Bud Light. She also did not know what the appetizer sampler consisted of. The chips- bland and stale. The salsa- hope you like onions-- big coarsely chopped chunks. The chile verde burrito was dry, bland and boring. The refried beans were passable but the rice, I'm sure, was Spanish Uncle Ben's. Just because a restaurant has been around for 30 years, or whatever it is, it doesn't make it good. Time to retire. There's no heart behind the food or operation. Won't be back again. read more

My main go to place for Mexican food!!! I'm in love with everything I order! I crave this almost daily! The shredded beef is phenomenal! The enchilada sauce is sooo yummy! NEVER tried the tamales, but I should. I usually get a 3 item combo, if I choose the chili Verde burrito of one of them, I get it to go and have the taco and enchilada. They serve salsa IN A PITCHER! It is soooo good too. I always buy some to take home. My go to is chicken enchiladas with the verde sauce plus some extra. So delicious.
