It's a well-known truth that the best Mexican restaurants are almost always little hole-in-the-walls. El Rinconcito is a perfect example of this. Not only do these guys have some of the best authentic Mexican food in the area (rivaling the bigger named restaurants in Round Rock) but the location is cute and inviting. But seriously, as a previous resident of San Antonio and Corpus Christi, I found this to be as close as you can get to those places I loved in those cities. It's a typical mom and pop restaurant, so I was excited to try their pozole. I was extremely disappointed with what I got. A greasy flavorless broth with 3 pieces of meat and some hominy. Yes. Absolutely delicious and very affordably priced. I got crispy ground beef tacos, steak fajita dinner, and chicken enchiladas verdes. Ground beef was perfectly seasoned. We were looking for breakfast tacos this morning, of course we went to Round Rock Donuts for the kids, but we had to have something great. Well, we found it with El Rinconcito!!! The service was great and the staff was friendly. We placed a to go order and while we waited three people made sure we were doing okay and didn't need anything. Now the food. Some of the best tacos we've ever had. And the hot sauce!!! The green was great, the red was HOT and sooooo delicious!! Had this place a few weekends ago and it was really good...this weekend had it when some family had came and it did not taste the same at all. The menudo and pozole the hominy was hard...the barbacoa was very blan. Very disappointed talked it up saying it was really really good..and then the food said otherwise today. read more

What the hell even is this. We called in a simple order of breakfast tacos after reading all the rave reviews. Ordered 1 chorizo, 1 carne guisada, 2 sausage egg and cheese, and bacon egg and cheese. Well 4 went straight in the trash. Apparently they don't have carne guisada, so instead added tough chunks of beef, the sausage tacos are hot dogs, and the chorizo is inedible. Tasty tacos. The fresh tortillas we delicious. I'll probably take home a half kilo or so, just like when I grew up along The Border. Both tacos were very well stuffed and easily filled me up. The migas were nice and crispy, which you don't usually find. The beans in my other taco were remarkably good. Their coffee was wonderful. Had a slight hint of cinnamon, which caught me off guard, at first, then reminded me of all the incredible drinks I used to have growing up. The ambiance was casual and service was super friendly and attentive. On the - slightly - negative side, they didn't scramble the eggs with the beans, which takes them down a notch. The mini tacos are delicious!! If you are in the mood for awesome authentic tacos get them! And the agua frescas are by far the best ones we have tried. You can't go wrong with either one of them but I in particularly love the lemonade. We didn't really like the burrito with cheese, beans and chicken. The migas plate is the best I've had in Round Rock. The red sauce has so much flavor. I haven't tried the green yet. The breakfast tacos are really good as well. The bacon is always crispy....not the flimsy chewy gross almost under cooked looking stuff you get elsewhere. This taco joint was okay. Tortillas were the best part of the taco. Eggs were cooked perfectly, but lacked seasoning and flavor. The salsa was too hot; it was more of a hot sauce than a salsa in my opinion. Also, they use cut up country sausage instead of ground sausage, so not really my personal favorite. My first tortilla split in half at the bottom so it was a struggle to eat. One of my tacos had a hard piece in it, so I ended up not finishing my meal. You may like it, so don't let my review cause you to not try this place. Ya may as well add it to your taco tour of Round Rock, and hopefully it'll be a better experience for you than it was for me. I was a little concerned when there weren't any other cars in the lot at 9 am on a Saturday but I guess we got lucky because several cars came in right after us. We ordered breakfast tacos to go. The counter help was friendly and the order was ready in just a few minutes. We got the #1 egg, potato, bacon, and cheese, migas taco and bacon and egg taco. All were delicious. The bacon was cooked well and was a whole strip per taco. The eggs were well seasoned. The migas had a good vegetable flavor surprisingly without much visible vegetables that was balanced with a nice corn flavor. A really nice taco overall. We tried the green sauce which had a good flavor but not much spice and the red sauce which was spicier and was great with the potato taco. Great experience overall, we'll be back! read more

We really enjoyed our experience here! It's a tiny little place, but they are so friendly and welcoming. I had the tacos el pastor with a side of delicious rice, and it was great! My husband had tacos with chorizo on flour tortillas, and said they were a bit dry and thick (also the only reason I didn't give 5 stars). He said that next time he'd go with the corn tortillas. Great food, I mean really really great breakfast tacos and the lunch I had there was great. But they have a problem. They open at 7am. I've been there three times in the past two weeks (and even called in an order for our office) and they have been closed. I spoke with someone there, on the phone and placed an order at 7:00, 7:30am the doors were still locked. Either be open for breakfast or don't. But if you say you are open at a specific time, be open please. If I place an order for a taco at 7:00am, then I better have a taco in my mouth by 7:05 goddammit or I'm not coming back. read more

Even with just two tables to serve, they running around like it was a packed house to ensure we had everything we needed. They make their own flour and corn tortillas.
