The portions are hearty, the flavors are authentic Tex-Mex, and most of what we ordered was delicious and hit the spot. It's a reliable choice for classic Mexican dishes when you're craving something satisfying. However, a few things fell short during this visit. The tea was overly sweetened--almost undrinkable for some of us. My beef nacho plate unfortunately had burnt beef enchiladas included, which were clearly off. I had to request a remake, and while they did fix it, it shouldn't have been served that way initially. The restrooms also needed more frequent cleaning--they weren't in good shape, which was noticeable during a busy post-church rush. On top of that, they really need to improve customer service. The staff could be more attentive and proactive overall. They need to be more approachable. It felt a bit hands-off beyond the basics. We love the food here and will probably return because it's generally tasty and family-friendly, but addressing these details--like better quality control, cleaner facilities, and friendlier/more engaged service--would make the experience so much better. His boss is behind him and says, "come on, get the next member", after being told after helping the previous member and the previous one to that, too. Anyways, they now have taco lettuce wraps! When it comes to Tex-Mex this is truly a place that focuses on this. We can tell it's a popular place as the drive through line was very long when we got there and when we left. This was our first time there and it's okay. Don't get me wrong, we would go back and eat here again it's just that I was left a bit underwhelmed. I ordered the carne asada plate and my husband got the chicken enchiladas. I have to admit that his dish looked better than mine. The flavor just wasn't quite there for me. We ordered the "world's best queso" and I have honestly had better. The lemonade was not as good as I expected it to be. The one thing that was really impressive about this place is the chips. They are in a warmer and you serve your own chips. I have to admit that it was pretty cool When we were there there were not a lot of people inside and the noise level was very minimal. The nachos, however, are a huge disappointment. Basically, it's a pile of chips with beans and perhaps some meat spread over the top, and then doused with melted cheese. That means the top layer is decent, but over half the chips end up soggy with nothing on them. Also, the salsa rojo is nothing to write home about. Taco shells fall apart. I typically ask for the meat to be on the side to prevent the shells from getting soggy. Well the managers came up with a policy on the fly to say they can't do that anymore. I'm leaving another review in response to the owner. I've been in the restaurant industry for 20 years. You only lose cook weight on a raw product that you're cooking such as a steak or a burger. You start with a quarter pound and yes you lose some fat and water weight when you're talking about Barbacoa that's not the case you sell it because it's post cooked you're not cooking it on the spot and losing any weight it's called a yield. if you don't know what that term means you should look it up. That is a ridiculous reply. Pre-cooked measurements only work for raw items. Y'all are scamming people and ripping people off and you should be ashamed as a business owner. Go to any place that sells Barbacoa and order a pound and they will measure 16 ounces end of story. You're wrong. I went to Mama Margies for the first time last weekend after my boyfriend raved about their fajitas. It's more fast food than a sit-down since you don't get waiter service. You order and pay at the counter and seat yourself. I was so surprised that a Beef & Chicken Fajita Combo for 2 people is only $22! I'm used to seeing that price for 1 person or even more per person. It came with beef, chicken, onions, rice, beans, 8 tortillas, pico, lettuce, and guacamole. The chips & salsa are complimentary and you get them yourself. The condiments and sauces are also self-serve. I thought the food was great! The meats were flavorful and tender. The rice and beans were good too. I wish they had hotter salsa but they don't. They don't have hot sauce either. We also got a churro but that was terrible. I don't recommend it at all! Overall, Mama Margies is a good place for delicious food at a great price.
