Great Mexican restaurant. Chile Rellenos are wonderful and their Enchiladas Verdes were delicious.

Pretty average American-Mexican food. Makes me miss the Mexican food in Chicago and other places south of here. The drive to Richmond for la milpa is worth it. read more

Service was friendly and helpful. Salsa was tasty. Fish Tacos were good. Hot sauce served with them was amazing. Daughter enjoyed the Chorizo quesadillas. Nothing tasted overly salted which was nice. When we come back down this way we will stop here again. read more

We stopped in on our way to Great Wolf Lodge with a party of eight. They sat us very quickly, drinks and food came without much of a wait or hassle. They had all the typical Mexican restaurant food which was as yummy as anywhere else. We even got a complimentary tequila shot, but don't say you heard it from me. read more

We chose this place based on the 5-star yelp ratings. I was very surprised by the lacklustre food we were served. We ordered from here carryout since we were spending a few days at Great Wolf Lodge and it was close. The food itself was rather standard American versions of Mexican food. Nothing that I would go out of my way to have again. The service was good and the prices were decent. I just wished that the food itself was spectacular as some of the other reviews noted. If you need something quick and easy than this is the place. If your looking for outstanding Mexican food - it is not and go else where. read more

Finally made it! We decided to come here while on route to Williamsburg for a weekend. The address given does not take you to the right place on the gps...definitely had to call and get directions! Anyway, once here we found the food quite decent...more traditional so don't expect chili's or crazy stuffed burritos and enchiladas. I got the lunch special #8, hubby had chicken enchiladas, in-laws had veggies quesadilla with pico. Good food, filling. We also got a 32oz of Modelo for 5.99! We ended up sharing between 3ppl! The whole bill came out to around $39! Honestly, pretty decent food for the price. It's an out of the way location across from a go cart place...would definitely consider coming again next time we're in the area :) read more

Great authentic Mexican restaurant off the beaten path in Williamsburg. Away from Colonial Williamsburg, it's not a place that you would just run into without hearing about it first. Awesome happy hour, very cheap modelo and margs! The food lived up to the authentic atmosphere and was killer. Thought we would give this place a try due to its favorable reviews in Yelp. The inside is very plain, with an odd smell. The service was fast and friendly. The food was good with large portions but unfortunately it was not very hot. My friend has celiac disease and anything with gluten will put her in the hospital. She asked the waiter for corn tortillas with her order of fajitas. He wrote it down on the order. The food came and she started eating and noticed that the tortillas were thicker than a corn tortilla. She called the waiter back and asked him if the tortillas were corn. He took a look and said no, they where wheat flour tortillas. So now my friend will likely spend a couple days in the hospital as she is extremely intolerant of gluten. When I spoke to the staff they were apologetic but didn't even offer us the meal for free. We both left with uneaten meals. It's really inexcusable that a restaurant does not appreciate how bad celiac disease can be and what the consequences of serving someone tortillas with gluten in them are when specifically asked not to. read more

I'm glad we read the reviews on Yelp and took a chance on eating here. The food was delicious. The tamale was one of the best that I have had since I used to live in Texas. We did not find the food to be overly spicy. The guacamole was fresh as was the salsa. The food came quickly and the restaurant was clean. We found the staff to be friendly an attentive. We are not from around here but love all sorts of food. Mexican food is one of our favorites. We kind of just picked this place to try out due to location from where we were staying. Good food for value. You can't beat the price for what you get. Cozy place with great friendly service. Some of the flavors are a little different than typical Mexican restaurants. Food not as tasty as other Mexican restaurants, but then those other places are often more expensive. Might be a personal preference...some may enjoy better the slightly different flavors. Positive Yelp reviews persuaded us to look this place up while visiting the Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. It is located on a wide road cut in the forest which certainly is not the original forest the colonists had found here but a little bit of greenery is always welcome. There are other businesses along this road but they are not crowded. This place is located in a larger open area; it's sunny, with big windows. We arrived shortly before sunset and you can enjoy it there without any inconvenience. The restaurant is not huge but we got a table after perhaps a one minute wait. They have an outside seating area but we were hot after the whole day spent outside. The menu is colorful and attractive, and the number of choices made us meditate for a good while. Finally we decided to try a couple of the entrees on the twenty-something meal combination list. It was some of the best Mexican food we've ever had. Everything was delicious, including the margaritas and the french fries for the kids. It was a perfect closure to an entertaining day. This place is inexpensive, clean, quiet, with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. It can be romantic at sunset. We only wish it was closer to home. It may well be that it's impossible to have bad Mexican food in Virginia but even so we'll be back when we're in the area again. read more

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Friendly service and great food! Hands down the most authentic place we have found. The tacos al pastor taste like the street tacos I've had in Tijuana, Mexico and the tacos carne de asada are just perfect. We love the quaint atmosphere and sweet family that runs/works here. Daytime service is quicker than evening. Food is always excellent. It's the best Mexican food in Williamsburg/JCC that I've found. Prices are great. We were on vacation in Williamsburg and hungry for good Mexican food. El Sabor had a good yelp rating, what we found was the food was not good! I ordered an enchilada and casadia, both were the worst I have ever tasted. The enchilada was nothing more than some hamburger in a tortilla with red sauce that tasted like a cheap spaghetti sauce. The casadia had such a small amount of bland tasting cheese in it that at first glance I did not even see the cheese! Triple thumbs down on these selections. My wife ordered a fajita and her fajita was typical, nothing extraordinary but good and well worth the price. So, maybe ask for a sample before committing to your selection!? read more
