Both came topped with a pico de gallo. The owners are an older couple who seem to do it all, and are kind and friendly; the food is cooked to order. The Food yesterday I bought carne asada fries and my Fries was overly cooked. I was not happy or satisfied.

I was in the mood for a carne asada burrito so I pulled over to the first burrito shop I saw and parked my car and walked in. The place is located in a nice shopping center with plenty of parking in Point Loma off Rosecrans. While I walked in I was greeted by the owner and I looked at the menus printed all over the walls debating in what I should order. This place serves all kinds of Mexican food ranging from breakfast foods to platters, and tacos. The prices are really good and the shop is cook to order. They sell sodas along with beer and take cash or credit. Within minutes of placing my order he went to the grill and started working that magic. Food was done and he asked if I wanted green or red salsa and I opted for red. He handed the bag to me and wow the burrito was piping hot and the only thing I could think about was going to my car to smash it. After getting in my car I slowly pulled out the burrito and snapped my pictures and wow I was impressed with the size and the quality of the tortilla wrap. First bite and all the flavors quickly hit me and brought a smile to my face. The taste of the grilled meat with a nice charred flavor and the aroma from the fresh chopped cilantro and fresh diced chunks of tomatoes with grilled onions was immaculate! The meat was a little salty to me but with the freshly home made red salsa everything went very well. Make sure you properly hold the burrito correctly when smashing to prevent the juice and grease from falling on you. I found my self slurping trying to get all the juices out before it made way to my lap. Overall nice prices, great quality food, and quick friendly services were provided to me and I see myself coming back for more! read more

Last time we were in San Diego, my family and I stopped by this hole in the wall because there was a 45 minute wait for the Waffle House. So happy we did. It's run by a husband and wife team. Very friendly. Stopped by again last week and it didn't disappoint. The Sabroso burritos are delicious. I've had both carne asada and chicken. Plenty of shrimp. They give you both red and green salsa bottles to bring to the table. My daughter is a picky eater and asked if she could have carnitas fries instead of carne asada. The owner said, "We'll make you whatever you want." Awesome! Give it a try. The prices are good and you'll leave full. I never ate from here but my dad went a bought one for me...i got a breakfast steak burrito. I got home and I cut it in half because it was too big. I could eat the other half later. When I got down to half way eating my first half I found a long piece of in my burrito I was really mad. I was really hungry. Cruising around the midway district, I saw this little hole in the wall place tucked in the same center as the 7-11 and country waffles. The windows are covered in "specials" signs, along with the entire interior of the place. The hot sauces were alright, the orangish red being my favorite, had the most kick to it. Chicken was kinda gummy, and lacked seasoning which was a bummer. The veggies were great, along with the beans. The rice they used was short grain and overcooked a bit. The corn tortillas on the side were alright, very thin and tasted fresh. The guac was completely pureed and very runny, almost like american guac. The most disappointing problem I experienced here was the flies. There were a massive amount of flies going around the place and constantly landing on my plate. Overall for me this place was pretty meh. The prices weren't anything special, the food wasn't and the eating experience was kinda of a bummer. The guy working the place seemed very nice though, no idea if he was the owner or not. Don't let the tiny space downgrade your opinion of this GEM. I worked near by and left for over 15 years and no other place make the Chile-Renello ANYWHERE as good as theirs! And I miss this place! I always get the Two item combo with Chile Renello with Beef or cheese Enchilada. Or double Chile Renello plate. The secret is in their batter, it's made of egg white( fluffy ) while other shops use regular batter with less egg mix.... and their enchilada sauce is tastier than other shops. This place is a good example of why I try a place a few times before I rate it. First time I went here I was really impressed. Not with the insides which is small and has way to many prices and specials all over the place. They even have the same menu on two walls. I think I was impressed with their Carne Asada burrito, although I can't remember anything specific about it. However the last few times I went here the food I got shouldn't even be served to the homeless. The Carnitas Burrito I got was way over cooked and dry, and most recently the Barbacoa Burrito was all tortilla with a handful of Cilantro and a ton of undercooked little onion squares (like the kind that should go on a hot dog). There wasn't much meat and the meat that was in there was soaked in some crappy sauce. Very disappointing. I don't think I'll go here again. read more

I love how close this place is to my work so I often walk to it when I need to fulfill my lunchtime mexican food cravings! But after going so many different times and ordering different items I feel I have to share a few things... Basically, I've found that this place is the spot for a good burrito but not so much for other items like rolled tacos or enchiladas. The California burrito and the carne asada burrito are really good and are a good size. The meat has good flavor and you don't just get a burrito full of 'toppings/fillers'. However, I can't speak as highly of their other menu items. The rolled tacos could use a little more flavor but they are decent. The real disappointment was my lunch today. I got a combo #1, with a beef taco, cheese enchilada, and rice and beans. I called it in and immediately walked there; so I was there within 10 minutes of calling... I got back to work with my lunch (now 15-20 min tops from initial call) and the beef taco was pretty good (could have used bolder flavored beef)although the bottom was pretty sopped up with enchilada sauce (which isn't necessarily a deal breaker). I got to the enchilada and it was cold, like it had been sitting in a refrigderator cold. The cheese inside was nowhere near melted and the sauce had a weird taste that could only be covered by hot sauce...lots and lots of hot sauce (there's the deal breaker). So in summary, El Sabroso is good for burritos but the other items are a sort of "order at your own risk" in my view. read more

So this place is all about value. You can fill up on the cheap but as some other reviewers have mentioned the menu is sort of a cluster. Especially if you have ADHD and get distracted easily. After I made my decision and ordered and paid I finally noticed the little yellow take-out menus on the side. I should have just grabbed one of those and ignored the menu items all over the walls. Next time. So I have to be honest, I found the food here a little on the bland side. I tried to spice things up with their salsas but all the salsas I tried here had this weird chemical aftertaste - as if the water added to it ran through some sketchy plumbing. So why come here at all? It's not crowded if you come in those between hours that are not peak lunch rush hours. Sometimes in this Midway/Point Loma area everything's crowded and if you're out and about doing various necessary evil type shopping errands the last thing you want to deal with is a crowd while you're eating your meal as well. This place delivers on that in a big way. And sometimes when I'm a little cranky just that alone overrides everything else. I don't care if this place doesn't give Guy Fieri a chubby - sometimes you just need a dining "safe space."
