Was seated quickly. We ordered the meat platter and it was awesome. It came with chicken, steak and beef. We ordered the platter for a party of 4. Each person got a plate of rice and beans. It came with tortillas, your choice of flour or corn. We ordered ceviche. I wasn't to thrilled with this dish. It missed the mark for me. It was missing lime juice and tasted sweet which I don't prefer. Just plain to flavor at all. Everything else was really food. Our waiter was awesome I can't remember his name but he has glasses and is from Venezuela. We ordered drinks and they were made perfectly. Milwaukee has no shortage on mexican eats so it was very hard to settle on a nice place to take me and my appititte. After a little self searching we finally decided on this location, it's a nice neighborhood eatery. When we got there we were promptly seated,and brought water,chips and dip,which were Bomb. After about 5 minutes we placed our drink and entree orders and within no time our drinks and meals were ready. By far THEE BEST Mexican restaurant there could possibly be! I'm 26 and have been coming here since my early teens. Place has not changed at all. I always get the meat platter that cooks on the fire thingy (I never know the name of it) I literally get happy like a child when I see it coming! Every bite is heavenly! My boss brought me here. If I could YELP review her, she'd get five stars, and you know I'm pretty stingy with the five star reviews. We came specifically for the paradillas Mexican barbecue which is fun, delicious, and generous. We ordered the combo for 2, and it was enough for three or four. She says it's more fun if you bring 6 people and then the combo for 4 is more than enough. However, I feel like I have more fun when there's so much food no one has to worry about taking the last one. I had an out of town house guest, so I came back the next night and again ordered the combo for two and again had a lot of leftovers. This time I tried the other paradillas combo and it seemed to be the same thing. I highly recommend the paradillas. I don't endorse the margaritas, they are the premix type so you can't call for a better tequila. They have a great selection of good tequila, so you're better off ordering shots, and calling a LYft if you have a few. Both times the waitresses had a little trouble with my poorly enunciated Spanish and my English, which is part of what I want in an authentic Mexican restaurant. If you're in an allegedly Mexican restaurant and the waitstaff doesn't even have a slight accent, you might be in Chi-Chis. The place has convenient late hours, which is hard to find in Milwaukee. Service is quite good at off peak times, but maybe the most fun time to come is Friday dinner time and be surrounded by tables of Mexican-American families all sharing paradillas, the enjoyment of eating is contagious. Of course the service is a little slower, but I think it's worth it to experience the "ambiente." One time I saw a table of over a dozen gringos demand individual checks. Don't be like that. The place is clean, spacious, big, with cheerful locally produced logo engraved wood furniture. They have their own parking lot, but I've always gotten parking on the street as well. There's a little patio for outdoor eating. Looking at the other reviews, the service here may have ebbed and flowed, or waxed and waned, or had its ups and downs, but its all good now. read more

It's been a few years since I've been here and I have to say I was really impressed! They remodeled and made the place bigger and even added an outside patio.The place is very clean and festive. The mariachis were there tonight playing their music which is always fun. The chips are light and crispy and the salsa had the perfect amount of spice. I love shrimp soup so I decided to get the shrimp soup with octopus. Absolutely fantastic! It was sweet and savory and I spiced it up with Valentino. I also ordered an à la cart Al Pastor taco. It was very tender and delicious. My friend ordered a chicken burrito dinner that she said was very flavorful and tasty. Overall we were very pleased with our experience. The staff was friendly and attentive. And the food was authentic and delicious! read more

My group and I ordered the mixed parrillada platter which came with rice and beans for everyone. We also ordered the horchata which was very tasty (more on the sweeter side, which I enjoy). We ordered for take out vs dine in and placed the order about 1 hour ahead and was told it would be ready by the time we wanted to pick it up by but to our dismay the person who picked up the food in my party said she had to wait an additional 15 minutes since the food was not yet prepared on time. I'm going to assume this was probably just a mishap and the restaurant got really busy within the hour since it was the start of dinner time. If I could give this place a 4.5 I would only because of the delay of service. Food is excellent and I would highly recommend. read more

El Senorial has been on my radar for quite some time. Another in the whole "What do you mean you haven't been there?" series, I'm so glad that I can now say I've been. I'm also glad because I've found a new go-to. I certainly plan on returning to El Senorial often and am excited to try the whole menu. (Not all at once, but holy hell is it hard not to want to... ) Authentic, no-frills and all about the food, this is truly an authentic Mexican family restaurant. A bit off the beaten path but definitely worth checking out, this spot's doing it right. Luke's bistec con rajas y queso: Shut the front door. Perfectly cooked skirt steak, veggies, rice and beans and cheesy cheesy cheese all around. Flavor, presentation... the whole thing was excellent(e). We actually only ended up biting this a few times and taking most of it home, because of my... Tostada Dinner: Three tostadas, rice + beans. Ginormous. Also cheesy. One chorizo, one beef, one chicken. Chicken was good, but obviously the least flavorful of the three; the chorizo had a delightful smoky flavor and wasn't too oily, and the beef was quite good as well. Piled high with lettuce and tomatoes, the whole thing had me going cave(wo)man style. (So hungry. Shovel tostada into facehole. Repeat.) I bet you want a margarita, but listen dear reader, and listen good: don't do it. They're all mix and even if you use good tequila, it's a let down. Stick w/ cervezas if you know what's good for ya. The house-made hot sauce? A let down. The house made salsa? A total win. We were lucky enough to not have the three strolling gents that comprised the Mariachi band not make their way to our table, which was fine by me. I'm guessing that they were hanging due to the fact that it was a Friday night... and while charming to watch from afar, not so charming straight up in your face. Things change....and not always for the better. El Senorial is in the process of doing a major remodel - the formerly dark, slightly divey interior is now fresh and bright. They've taken over some adjacent space and doubled their capacity. Those are definitely good changes. What else has changed? Well, our service was painfully bad - we sat for 45 minutes after placing our order, drinks long gone and our server making a full time job out of avoiding our table. Mind you, they were only about 1/3 full. We were close to leaving when the food (tacos and enchiladas) arrived. The food has changed too - the chicken in my tacos was dry, under seasoned and lukewarm at best. I ordered avocados on my tacos and received a paper thin slice on 2 of the 3 only - wut? Of course we weren't checked back on, so I couldn't request a fix on my crapfest of a dinner. "New" El Senorial delivered a La Perla quality experience so they get an equivalent rating. Ended another night with drinks and a bunch of us decided to grab some late night Mexican food...that's how you do it out in the West...so given that this place opened til 3am...we thought we'd go satisfy our hunger with some Mexican drunchies! This place is not your average Mexican fast food joint. They actually have a sit down service, but we just grabbed our food to-go. Usually, after hours, I get carne asada fries as drunchies. Don't know what it is? Go look it up, you're missing out! This obviously was not on their menu, but the lady taking our order was kind enough custom make it for us. AMAZING! So we actually had CARNE ASADA FRIES...in the midwest...after a night of partying...so reminiscent of my SoCal college party days. Because they custom made an order that was nothing close to anything they served...they get a 4 stars for me! As for the carne asada fries itself...it was delicious. They could of went more lightly with the sour cream and maybe fried the fries a little more. I like my fries crunchy. Our normal go-to Mexican food restaurant was not open, so we checked Yelp and found El Senorial. And guess what? Now we've got TWO go-to Mexican Food restaurants! We called at noon to see if they thought there would be a table available at 1:00 for 10. They said they'd have one ready. When we arrived, the place was packed. I was worried, but sure enough, they had a table for 10 set up and waiting for us, chips and salsa already in place. I tend to order the same thing the first time I go to a new Mexican restaurant: tostadas. I think the open-faced taco on a crispy tortilla is the best entree for judging. I've had so many kinds, from the best to the worst, and El Senorial's approaches the former. (That means it's good.) Not only are they delicious, they're enormous. I had the dinner version, which comes with three tostadas and rice and beans. This is easily enough for two hungry people. I brought half home. The service was friendly and expeditious, despite the restaurant's brisk business. Everyone in my party had a great time and promised to be back. Oh, and it's a good value, too. This place was great. Heard alot of good things about this spot from friends and on top of it the restaurant is literally like 2 mins away from my house! Lol. Had the parrilladas regular for one. Boy was I glad I didn't order more. I felt like I was at a Korean BBQ spot because of the hot plate. For the cost of $16.95 you could feed at least 3-4 people on that plate (depending how hungry you are). I was stuffed (between eating with me and my friend). Definitely a Milwaukee go to spot. My boyfriend and I went here on Valentine's Day as a last minute place, since the other restaurants we originally wanted to go to were packed. And I am so happy we found this place. The service was okay; our waitress didn't check on us often and didn't speak much, granted she may not have known a lot of English. The food came out super fast and super hot! They served us fresh tortilla chips and salsa almost as soon as we sat down! The salsa was bomb and had a little kick to it, so it was super yummy. Iordered 3 chimichangas (2 chicken, 1 ground beef), and they were DELICIOUS! Looking inside, you wouldn't think they'd be so flavorful. The chicken was especially juicy and savory. It also came with rice and beans (those were okay). Very happy with the food and speedy service. Is there a greater compliment to a Mexican restaurant than that it's a place Mexicans love to eat at? I love this place! If only for the fact that it's so big that, even on a busy Friday or Saturday night, you can always get seated. (Actual part of the reason for that is that they do such a big take-out business.) The food is terrific! Everything is available Mexican style (onions and cilantro) and American (crapped up with sour cream, cheese, lettuce and tomato). And it's all delicious. But even beyond the basic tacos and enchiladas, the menu boasts a number of house specialties. Excellent seafood, soups and sandwiches. I will have to say I was disappointed in my visit here after hearing rave reviews from friends and family alike. We got there right when it opened which may have been the reason for the slower service as many tables were filled right away. I had the huevos ala mexicana and it was very bland. No flavor in the main dish, the rice was ok, and the beans seemed runny. I had asked for a refill on water (water glasses are small) and ended up having to walk up to the bar to get it. A few minutes later the waitress came with a pitcher of water. Chips and salsa were ok but we had a table of six and would have been nice to have the salsa refilled. Didn't even have enough salsa for my eggs. Would have been nice to have a variety of sauces also. Oh well, it is what it is. I will try and give it another go since I heard good things.... I really was surprised by the prices which seemed about 30% higher than typical Southside Restaurants. The interior was nice and clean and everyone seemed very friendly.... So, logistically, this is one of the most amazing restaurants I have been to in Milwaukee. Due to an unexpected change, I had a group of almost 20 to feed dinner to on a Saturday night. We wanted local, we preferred a business owned by people of color. El Senorial fit the bill in both cases. When I arrived at the restaurant unannounced, at 5:30pm on a Saturday, i was immediately greeted by staff members. When I hesitantly told them I needed to seat at least 16, but more likely 25, I tried to explain that we would be happy to sit in groups of 4-6 (trying to be as un-annoying as possible). My suggestions were waved off in the most friendly way possible. I began sending my people to the bar area, anticipating a long wait. Within 15 minutes, we were led to a long table and seated together. Awesome! When more people arrived, they quickly added more tables and seats - despite being crazy busy already. The service was friendly and efficient - they got all of our orders correct and the food came out quickly. Sadly, I have to say that I didn't love my steak tacos (fine, but nothing special), or the salsa and guacamole. Everyone in the party was satisfied though. A few large party hiccups - they don't allow you to separate checks over a certain group size, and they don't take American Express (only problematic if you're trying to pay on a corporate account). 3 stars for food 5 stars for staff and support Avg: 4 stars read more

This was our second trip. Please know the staff our the kindest service people around but the food was overpriced and both of us did not want to take the leftovers which are the main reasons we love Mexican food. I must say that the salsa was the best I have had in a while. Also, must mention that the condiments containers were thick with dried sauce. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant right now, and there's quite a few in the area. The service and prices are good but the food really is the reason we keep coming back. It's authentic and absolutely delicious. I've loved everything I've had. Some highlights are the shredded chicken which is so juicy and flavorful and the rice and beans. Get away from the watered down Mexican food in Walker's Point and come to El Senorial. The complimentary salsa has the perfect amount of kick. I pour it on everything. I usually order carne asada tacos with avocado and a side of rice. The is rice is rather bland but becomes quite tasty with the addition of the salsa. The tacos are delicious and are a bargain. Their beans are so-so and I don't bother ordering them. I have never had their margaritas because I always get their horchata. The food is better than anything in Walker's Point and definitely costs less. read more

I've eaten here twice. Once I had the Chicken Mole, which was delicious and I had corn tortillas, which were warm and perfect. The second time I had the nachos, which, were a little too cheesy, though still delicious with the shredded chicken. I also had horchata, which was perfect. Not to sweet, not too bland. They offer the traditional salsa and chips, with warm chips - I think they're homemade - and home made salsa. Portions here are extremely large. Both of my visits here were immediate seating with extremely fast and friendly service. The first time I was here, there was a table full of Milwaukee PD.
