Let's start off with experience - 1.5/5 STARS. I called the place to get a quote on alternating a bridesmaid dress. The owner said he wouldn't be able to give me one over the phone. Totally understandable that you can't get an exact price but an estimate such as $50-$70 would be helpful. He told me to come into the store and he could give me a quote. I come in on a Saturday morning, the owner welcomes me and at the same time making some jokes that made me feel uncomfortable. He makes me try on the dress, I gave him clear instructions on how I want the dress to be altered, he does his little pinning thing and then proceeds to tell me that he still could not give me a quote bc the person who does alterations was not there. At this point I was a little frustrated with him bc I just got off the phone and he said I'd be able to get a quote if I came in stores.... He says leave the dress here and when the alterations person comes in, we'll call and let you know. Reluctant, but on a time crunch to get this dress altered, I hesitantly leave the dress with him. He does call me back in a timely manner and said it would cost $50 to get the dress altered. I gave him the go. The work - 3/5 STARS. Come in and the guy starts off with the uncomfortable jokes again. I look at the dress and I already knew it wasn't what I asked for before even trying it on. I asked for the train to be altered when he was pinning, even my sister said she heard me saying this multiple times, and he cut me off and said "no." I told him this isn't what I asked for and he persistently said, "4 inches cut off all around." I hate being put in these situations and like I said he made me feel uncomfortable from the start. He would not fix my dress and me being annoyed and uncomfortable, I just took the dress, paid and left. Overall, the alteration was good. They do the press for free. However really poor at following directions and I did not like how I had to keep coming back to the store and not having clear answers. I wouldn't come back to this place again, not bc of the work but more of how the worker made me feel. And a suggestion, have the person who's doing the alterations be in the store vs some random person doing the pinning. Guess that was my mistake to trust him but I felt like if the alterations person was there I would have gotten my dress altered the way I wanted. They should have fixed it and I wasn't happy but the guy would not budge. read more

I've had 2 spring dresses and a blouse in the back of my trunk for a year now. Kept meaning to look for a local affordable cleaner near my home to finally get these items dry cleaned to store in my closet for another year or so. I finally ventured to El sobrante cleaners and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly man that helped me. He told me come back next week for the items. $35 for 2 dresses and a blouse was pretty affordable if you ask me. I rarely use Dry Cleaners but had to go to a wedding and my suit was hanging in my Closet for way too long. Walked in on Friday 07/01/2022. They said it would be ready on Tuesday 07/05/2022.Because of the holiday. Suit Jacket and Shirt were Professionally cleaned. I showed up at 1000 am and they said it wasn't ready. He said 10 minutes. Great service. I needed a braids maid dress tailored and they did it for me in 3 days.

I came here for a dress alteration for a wedding, it just needed to be shorter so I don't step on it. The lady didn't use a measuring tape to measure the length that was going to be cut off, instead she used pins to hold the dress up so it doesn't touch the ground and then evened it out by glance. The lady and I looked in the mirror as she held my dress shorter where it was above my feet and agreed that was what I want, but that was not the result. The day I picked up the dress it was still way too long and dragged across the floor, I kept stepping on it, no way I can walk or dance at the wedding in this dress. This a mistake obviously on their part and the owner (some foreign European guy, I forget his name) refuses to take responsibility for their mistake and guess what, he said he will charge us extra to fix the alteration even though it's their mistake. He didn't even apologize, he responded with we never make mistakes, which is impossible because everyone who is human makes mistakes sometimes, I just want them to take responsibility and fix it. The wedding was literally two days away and it took them 3 days to alter the dress. This was very unfair and uncalled for, why should I pay for a dress that you guys messed up on?? It should be a free fix if it's your mistake, I should only pay if I decide I want it another way and the lady who works there even saw where the length was we agreed on, above the shoes, not touching the ground. Measurements were taken again but this time they did decide to use a measuring tape, oh they knew they messed up. They knew I was a in a vulnerable position, where I couldn't alter it elsewhere at this point because where would I find a last minute tailor, I feel like I was scammed in a way, you know I'm gonna say yes to them charging me to fix their mistake when the wedding is literally 2 days away. In a professional tailor alteration, this is a situation where the customer either gets their money back, a discount or for them to fix their mistake for free ASAP, because it's something they messed up, not the customer. I got my dress the evening before the wedding day....and they fixed it for a fee, yes, and even after that I still didn't get an apology or thank you for being patient, owner continued to have an attitude with me from start to finish. I hate bullies. I sincerely don't recommend that you go here if you don't want to be scammed into paying for more than you thought you would, it's not right. Keep your options open for people who are more than willing to help you as a customer and respect you. I will never come here again. read more

Turd of the day- Goodluck anyone who goes here... The day I walked into this place I looked around and thought to myself" not a very clean presentation" Now I showed up because my wife is telling me the guy is giving her a hard time about clothes she is bringing back to the cleaners repeatedly for re-clean. "After listening to my wife complain she ask me to smell her new dry cleaned clothes and when she put them to my nose it was pungent the smell and an insult the way she was telling me this guy was handling the problem". Back at the cleaners (sweat shop) I walk in with my wife and I just listen as my wife explains the sweaty smell coming from her recently picked up clothes. He insist he does not know anything of what my wife is talking about, and grabs two more loads of clothes my wife has here(more than a dozen items). I speak to the man explaining to him that she has been in twice now even after you taken the garments back for a re-clean the smell is too pungent to act like you don't smell anything. Why not just say "that smell unfortunately we could not remove" but don't act like you dont smell a musty odor coming from not one or two dresses but the entire wardrobe my wife has brought to this cleaners. Things got heated quickly when I insisted he can smell that and if not someone here in the family business is wearing my wifes garments. Yelling ensued and I got in his face and directly informed him there will not be a payment made for the pitiful service and lack of respect that he showed us. Owner likes to laugh and smile but doesn't listen to well. A couple of the employees that english is their second language are not trained very well with the register and writing up tickets. Turn around times were not met consistently. In addition, if a business is a place to clean your clothes why is it so dusty and dingy in there. I visited this business twice, not for cleaning but for alterations. The first time was to have a zipper replaced in a Nike jacket (they were sweatjackets in the old days, but I guess now everyone says hoodies). The work was done well. It was more expensive than I expected, $30.00, but they supplied the zipper and I didn't ask ahead of time for the cost, so I couldn't really complain. The second time, 6/26/19, I needed a buttonhole added to the bottom of the center placket of a brand new, never-worn blouse, and the button sewn on. I can do a button myself but hadn't used the buttonhole attachment on my machine since junior high, so I wasn't confident enough to do the buttonhole myself. I showed the young lady at the counter how the buttonholes were evenly spaced along the center placket of the shirt, but they just stopped about 7" above the hem of the shirt, so I wanted one more buttonhole added, at the same distance as the others. I also showed her where the spare buttons were, attached to a tag on the blouse. She wrote some info on the receipt, then told me it would be ready the following week. I went in today (7/5) around 11am to see if it was ready, and the young lady asked me to come back after an hour or so. I returned around 3pm and my blouse was hanging there ready for me, yay! The man who apparently did the work told me "Not many cleaners do buttonholes, but we do them because we're dumb." I told him that I thought they did alterations as part of their business; he said they did, but that "99% of cleaners don't." Hmm, well, ok...not sure what the point of that info was, but whatever. The button and buttonhole had been added; unfortunately, I could see that the spacing was off -- it was about 1/2" closer to the buttonhole above it than it should have been. That is, all the buttons/buttonholes down the center placket are 2 3/4" apart, except for the newly added one which was only 2 1/4" below the previous one. It's quite obviously too high. Well, I know there is nothing to be done, once the buttonhole is created, it's just going to be there forever, even if you make a new one in the right place. But I am disappointed. And maybe that was why he gave the little statement about "not many cleaners do buttonholes", so I should be....grateful (?) and overlook the mistake? So anyway, I cannot recommend their alterations work. read more

Are you sure im like look im coming to get my jacket so i go down to get my jacket i put the ticket on the counter and go to sit down he yells at me because i needed to move a blacket so i can mind you im disabled so now he tries to shove some paper in my face where i turn my head away from him he then walks away now mind you im not talking to him at all so now he calls the police on me saying im harassing his company so i had to call them also so i could get my jacket back. I'm originally from San Francisco and get my alterations in San Francisco. Since I moved to the east bay I really never had to get any alterations done until now for a wedding. I found this place through yelp and saw good review except one. So I gave this business a go since it's really close to my house. The staff and the owner himself were really nice and have good customer service. I mean the owner himself insist of helping me bring my dress to my car. Who does that?
