I went to El Super in Panorama city and was paying for my groceries, the total was $9.77 so I handed the girl a $20 dollar bill and then handed her 2 pennies so that she would give me $10.25 in change, in other words ten dollars and a quarter. She refused to take the pennies and said that the transaction was already in the system but the reality is that she can't do simple math and this basic math computation boggled her mind as if it was Algebra or Calculus. She is probably a DEI hire just like the majority of their staff. I know everyone has to make a living but she probably qualifies for a taco stand on the corner or a mini-mart although the culture in The Super is super WOKE. As for the employees in the bakery and produce department are always saying bad words that customers can hear and that creates a negative example for children and seniors as well as the public in general. Please train your staff properly, they are being paid and should conduct themselves in a business manner as for the cashiers give them proper training and an attitude adjustment. I just went shopping here and got all the pantry essentials to make delicious food at home from scratch. Well stocked, friendly customer service, clean facility, plenty of variety. Can't wait to take my sister here so she can stock up on some much needed ingredients that are nearly impossible to find where she lives. Went at 10pm as a single woman on a Friday night and it was perfectly safe. Well lit parking lot. Other families shopping. Wish they would play some music inside or something. But I guess they want you to focus inside. 100% choose El super over Vaillarta any day! My only complaint is that there aren't more locations near us. read more

I'm sorry, but drive right past this store and go to a legit grocery store where the produce isn't rotten, dried out or just plain inedible and the meat doesn't look 2 weeks old. There's no organization to the layout of this store, and don't even get me started on the meat department -- where their meat selection looks like it's been sitting out in the heat for days. Seeing how the world is currently in a heightened state of concern for sanitation and cleanliness, you would expect a grocery store to be more on top of their game when it comes to these kind of things. But it just does not seem like they care at all whether you get salmonella or some other kind of virus or disease from eating rotten and spoiled food. El Super? No... This place is not for the weak, on any day of the week ESPECIALLY if you don't speak Spanish, which I won't hold against them because I shouldn't expect to communicate in English when going to a store with a Spanish name. You're pretty much on your own here, it's hard to find anything and gives "we literally threw every item in the store and it landed where it landed" vibes. Good lucky finding anything and my the odds he ever in your favor. It's very hectic and chaotic in the store and could be overwhelming for some (like I said, not for the weak). The parking lot is a beast in its own, cars back in to each other often but on the bright side, no one really seems to mind much, no arguing or exchanging of insurance here so bring a car you won't mind being backed into. My mother always like visiting this location even though we don't live near by. Today she ask me to take her shopping while at the deli department after waiting for a good 20 min to be helped as they are busy. We where helped by a young lady who from beginning was rude to my mother how ever I was like okay let just get what we came for and leave. My mother continue to order more the lady keep giving my mom and attitude towards everything my mom was asking for and then after not to mention that it seem like as she was throwing the meet to the side as if she was mad at something or something was bothering her. I finally got frustrated enough about it I asked her hi ma'am I'm sorry what's your name? With a big attitude she rolled her eyes at me and did not say anything I then asked her in Spanish I'm sorry I didn't get that what's your name and she said what ever with a rude tone. My mother then proceeded to get the meat she was purchasing from the counter and this lady screamed at her and told her you need to back away my elderly mother did not hear her so continue to grab the meat and she told her again I told you to step away and move away from the counter. I then told her there is no need for you to be disrespectful towards my mother and I proceeded to walk away to look for a manager because I find this completely unacceptable and I was no longer going to tolerate it. It happens that her name is Wendy Climaco. And the manager who I spoke to said his name is Jose Luis he said that he understood that it was unacceptable but that he would have to look at cameras which I understand may be there procedures once to complain is done. How ever I didn't find that useful because at the same time why would I lie about it. Overall the manager was very helpful and gave me the information I needed. I Will continue to proceed with this tomorrow I will call corporate office and notify them of their employees behavior. As I found this very unacceptable and extremely rude. read more

My mom loves coming to this store... Even after both she & my sister fell (not the same day) & no one ever called to see if they were OK after wards. The day my mom fell she also had to ask them for an ice pack 'cause the manager didn't bother asking if she needed one. I don't understand why they have two flat screen 3D TVs showing promos (one by the bakery & the other at the meat department). The promos don't bother me as much as the 3D effect. The screen looks like you can scratch it & it'll make a sound that'll hurt your ears. There is almost always a game of tag going on amongst the kids in this store. I've seen full grown children, at least 6 years old, being pushed around in carts 'cause they are too lazy to walk. Another child dropped her sweet bread and her father picked it up & gave it back to her. The last time I was there I saw a kid in a cart playing a video game & his sister laying on the bottom rack where you'd place your water bottles. I didn't think kids fit down there!! Props to the mothers that push 2-4 kids in a cart with one hand and pull a cart full of groceries with their other hand. They don't offer samples as Costco & Sam's Club do, but without a doubt you'll see people eating before they check out... & if you don't see them some will leave their trash behind. The lines will drive you crazy! No matter how many registers are open the lines move extremely slow. read more

Came here yesterday with my grandmother and what I've saw was not so great. Let's just say the workers here some of them need to be retrained how to properly stack vegetables. From box to open fridge. I saw one worker specifically a male he was jsut grabbing each box of broccoli and just throwing them all on top of the old broccolis. He didn't even me mindful that these food goes into people's mouths. Some broccolis fell on the ground. And he put them back on in the open fridge . That's disgusting. The floor is super dirty!! He just kept looking at me and kept doing what he was doing. I don't think that was acceptable. The place wasn't well kept. A bit dirty. But the prices are good. read more

El Super first appeared to me as one of those supermarkets where the prices seem too good to be true in their flyers and you have to join the club to take advantage of their deals. Four lbs of gren limes for $0.99?! And red seedless grapes for $0.67/lb?! WOW! Now that's what I call a deal! I went inside this supermarket to check it out for myself. I have to admit, it's catered to the Latino population in the area and sort of looks like a warehouse on the inside. But the fruits and vegetables were a great deal as advertised, and they had plenty of fresh produce to choose from. Best of all, the prices are bargain basement. You don't need a club card for discount! You can buy healthy foods in bulk and less impact on your wallet. Thus, if I lived in L.A. on a tight budget and wanted to eat fresh produce, El Super would be the place to go. My only gripe here is that the shopping carts aren't as clean as a regular supermarket, but it's minor compared to the deals. read more

All and I do mean ALL employees should be fired. Deals are descent. Carts are dirty and old. You see trash everywhere, literally. Last time I went to El Super I saw a cracked egg on the sweet bread, juice spilled on the floor and over heard employes cursing at each other (one of the employes smelled like beer.) I walked out the store not buying anything. CASHIERS are so UNFRIENDLY. They don't even say smile or say Hello at all. They won't even look you in the face. I came in shopping with my mom. She was getting her things and I was getting mine. When it was time to pay we went to the express line. She was going to pay her thing and I was going to pay mine. The cashier saw our cart and said I'm sorry it's only 15 items or less and my mom explain that she was one person buying her things and I was another we both had less then 15 items. Well while my mom was putting her things on the counter the cashier went and told her manager what was happening. The manager said I'm sorry you need to move my mom explain again that we where paying separate and we both had less then 15 items. The manager then says I'm sorry but you have one cart and we can't ring you up here. I was mad because it would be stupid to get two carts when it was the two of us and we where not getting that much stuff why use a cart when someone else could use it. So the manager refuse to have her associate ring us up so we left our groceries. (It was mostly meats and chicken that I'm sure they put back into the meat department after it has been touch. Talk about a health hazard)I went outside and came back in to get the corporate number she acted stupid having no idea what I was asking for and told me she was the head manager and if I had a problem I could come back at 8am tomorrow to speak with someone. Then one of her cashier tells me with an attitude that I could get the information online. Of course he had an attitude look how his manager is talking to customers. Then I find out for the customer that was behind me to get her name because the manager was saying bad words about me and my mom. Safe to say that I will never go back to that store. I would rather pay more money and be treated right than to save and have the manager and employees look down on you. I was shocked by the low reviews of this place. Yes, this market is in a bad part of the neighborhood but you know what we live here so suck it up or go somewhere else. The quality off the food is great, and overall very cheap. The store is kept clean and each time I go employees are always very kind and helpful with what I need to find. They also have a good selection of bee honey which majority of markets don't have unless they're expensive stores. I'll definitely be shopping here for groceries. Why spend $200 to stick up in food when I could spend $80 for the same thing and get more food. read more
