Let me just start off by saying that this place is more on the Americanized fast food spectrum of Mexican food. So it's not exactly a place I'd recommend for traditional tacos. I would try going to Tacos Gavilán up the block. El taco is by far one of the best Mexican fast food places in La County. You can't beat the prices, and the high quality food.l, and they always have quick service in the drive thru. My family loves this place and will drive 30 mins to get the food! My mom loves their bean and cheese burritos. Would have given 5 stars but there's this younger bigger guy with scruffy hair who has major attitude and makes you feel like you're bothering him. When i asked him to please make sure cheese was there he snipped yes at me (there was no cheese even after asking 3 times in tota).I think his name is cruz but not sure if that's him on the receipt. He rolls his eyes at you for asking for taco sauce (which he didnt give), snatches the card out of your hand and just gives a ton of attitude for everything. Wait, this is Mexican fast food? It's the bomb diggity for fast food. They're fast, but not too fast. The food is hot even when you order drive-thru and finally get it home. Plus it's affordable. My meal was under $8.50. Need I say more? I used the drive-thru thinking my decision would be easy. Dammit to hell, it was not. Their menu is so flamin' extensive. I was shocked. A little uneasy. Then I thought, "Just do it. Get something that other places are known to screw up. Live life." I ordered the #47 ($3.59). I saw steak flautas, but then wanted chicken. Anyway, these flautas were slightly soft in the middle, a little more than I would usually like, but it was stuffed full with chicken! Also, it comes with an amazing side of guacamole. I was thinking these would be skinny little flautas so I ordered a cup of beans and a cup of rice, both $1.29 each. This being fast food, the portions are fairly big. The beans were nice and gooey with a big mess of melted shredded cheese dolloped in the middle. The rice was okay. I usually ask for rice solely as a filler, so I mixed it in with my beans. To drink I had a small Orange Bang ($1.39). Should have upgraded that size a little, but I had to make sure they made it up to par. The guy was not exactly audible at the order speaker, but still he managed to get my order correct. That same gentleman (at drive-thru window) was super nice... called me señorita. Hey, hey, hey now... notice the ring, bro? That's right, it's señora. His grin was classic. He asked me if I wanted just 2 or 3 salsas. Psssh, I ain't no fool. Give me 3 please. The salsa comes in small plastic containers with lids, but it has a little kick, not too spicy. This place definitely makes up for a chain fast food Mexican place back in eastern New Mexico and West Texas that I've been missing called Taco Villa. Family has been going here is the 70s. Very sad they sold the orange location and closed the Firestone/Anaheim locations. This our absolute favorite place to eat and we are never disappointed. The legacy staff cooks everything to perfection. The kitchen is clean and neat. It is outdoor seating only at this location however there is a drive through. Food is always fresh, tasty and makes you want to come back. I hope this business can grow again and expand across the US. read more

Place smelled like my grandma's restroom (puro fabuloso) I couldn't breathe. The beans were not very authentic. Sun Vista can beans are better and i don't even like those either. If you're trying to watch your salt intake, I definitely wouldn't recommend going here. The food has so much salt, I was concerned my blood pressure would go up. We go often to El taco to purchase their beef taquitos which are always very tasty. Today we decided to finally try some thing else off the menu we ordered a Carne Asada burrito. It was absolutely terrible. The tortilla at the ends felt like they were made of rock the burrito lacked any good flavor. The wait to be able to order in the drive-through was quite long as well yet the line was short. they seemed to skimp on the delicious guacamole that they put in the taquitos plate. We will most likely return for the taquitos and only the taquitos no more trying to venture and order outside our usual. read more

The taquitos are nice and crispy with tender beef inside (not like those cheap frozen ones). Also comes with a side. I get the beans with cheese and onions. I have been eating at El Taco for many many years. It's just not the same as it once was. They changed a lot of the recipes it seems because this is just not the El Taco of old days. The sauces are totally different and thin and runny. The food is just a very different in general. The workers seem to not want to be there either. They will hand you your drink without a straw, then slam the window shut with lightning speed so you can't ask them for anything. They then will ignore you, forever while you try and get their attention just to ask for something that should have been given with the drink. Annoying. read more

Before we got to the window, there was a homeless lady hanging out side that smells of pee, she was very rude and another family was out doors with kids trying to eat and she keep bugging them , non of the male workers came out side to ask her to leave, it was very un safe and dirty, there was trash all around the sitting area, I was very disappointed at this place, I remember as a kid they had one by my house and this place was always clean, the workers were always cleaning and very respectful. Red chunk burrito flavor is good but the size and price it completely ridiculous. The burrito is $6.78 and is the size of a taco Bell bean and cheese burrito. I've ordered this burrito before and it was small I didn't say anything but today was the final straw. At almost $7 really??? When I took it back the guy literally cut the old burrito poured the fillings out of it and put it in a new tortilla and added one small scope more. Thought the only Mexican joint I loved would be King Taco but I guess I have a second favorite! It's near my aunt's place and I hadn't eaten all day. The potatoes were not throughly cooked all the way through, there was an overwhelming amount of ham that made the burrito too salty, and there was only one small chunk of cheese way at the bottom of this burrito. We even met the owner and he was nice enough to surprise us with a free dessert and tell us a little history on the restaurant location. Believe it or not this was the first Taco Bell location before the open took it over 20 years ago.
