I was debating whether to post a review but I have been sick with a stomach'ache and worse since eating their crispy beef taco. The meat was mushy and light brown and lacked any taco flavor. It seems like they mixed in mashed potatoes or some kind of protein substitute like a soy product. It was disgusting. I go to places like this to get real food vs. chain restaurants that pull those moves but that still happened. The steak taquitos lacked taste and the guacamole was runny and cut with something also to make it stretch. I used to eat here for years but things have changed. Bean and Cheese Burrito does not dissapoint - Beans are fresh- not too greasy, not too dry. Tortilla is warm and stands out by being soft and thin unlike most fast food joints where tortillas eats like s piece of white,bland , raw white bread. I skip the cheese, add lettuce and tomato. Let's start off with the food...that's always a good spot to start. I got the taquito combo (2 steak taquitos, side of rice or beans or fries--I got beans, and a regular sized drink. Taquitos were amazing, a bit small but perfect for a lunch portion. Super crisp and the guacamole was phenomenal! I even had extra so I threw it in my beans . Prices are moderate for dinner plates (about 8-9, but they're pretty large so worth it). Only outside seating so go on a nice day there are about 4-5 small umbrella tables. Service was eh, but maybe because it was a large group they got flustered, that's not a justification btw. What else....would I return? Yes! This place is absolutely disgusting. Those of you who gave this place anything 3 stars or above are completely delusional. First of all, the restaurant looks like garbage. It's one of those places that you just pass by because you know it'll be dreadful. But my dad wanted to come here, so yeah. The items are overpriced for something that's such low quality. A little over two dollars for an enchilada? Hole Mole will give ya two GOOD QUALITY enchiladas for $2. Total of $17 for three tacos, a burrito, and an enchilada. Seriously? Also, I hate the lack of flexibility, which is key to any restaurant. Any Mexican place that has the usual Mexican ingredients (carne asada, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole) and fries on the sides menu should be able to slap them altogether and make carne asada fries even tho it's not stated in menu. Hole Mole does that. The enchilada was awful. The shredded cheese they put inside it was not only unmelted, but cold. My little sister took one look at the taco, expressed disgust, and wrapped it back up and put it back inside the bag. She said she'll eat it later, but that didn't sound very convincing... I wish they'd have this place replaced by a Hole Mole or even a Del Taco. Like forrealz. They claim to be authentic Mexican food since 1958. I enjoy crispy shell tacos. I asked them if they fry their own taco shells (hence homemade type taco), lady behind the counter confirmed that they did. Ordered 3 tacos and took them home. I open the first wrapper and I have a Taco Bell / Del Taco type taco. There is no freshly fried shell. There is a taco shell that has the texture, mouth feel and taste of a plain Dorito. The meat was season like out of a package mix (Taco Bell Style). I have nothing against those chain products named. I expected something completely different. This place now toxic. I used to eat at the San Pedro location on 9th Street all the time until I noticed a steady decline in the quality of their food. First off their tortillas are not fresh which is a sin in the Mexican culture. The tortillas they serve have got to be at least 2 weeks old. They put the old tortillas in to a steamer in order to soften it up and it is still hard and crusty. I didn't realize these taco stands were numbered. So I guess I bought food from number 17. Anyway, I've pretty much ridden my bike past this taco stand/restaurant/drive thru/dive hole at least a hundred times before my wife and I stopped by to pick something up for our daughter on the way home from the small Saturday morning swap meet across the street at Hope Chapel. There seems to be at least 75 menu items, which made my eyes spin (and it still hurts). You have your basic Mexican fare, such as tacos, burritos, flautas, etc. But apparently they offer some type of famous sloppy joe using Mexican beef. I'll have to try that some time. The combo specials are listed at the ordering window. I think it's a pretty good deal, since the entrees (which range in price from $3-$6 come with a side dish and a medium drink). We instead ordered a chicken quesadilla (spelling?) and a side of rice for around $4.50. I'm thinking what I'm saying is a good thing, but I really didn't like the fact that they put (IMO) too much chicken. I had to take some out for my daughter who loves cheese and tortillas (I should've just ordered one without chicken). Anyway, it was overall delicious and the rice was fantastic. I'd come back for the rice alone, but I promised myself I'll try the sloppy joe next time. I hate to do this review, because I've been hitting up this joint since I started working in Pedro, and usually the older gentleman and women who work the window are super nice. Now, I knew something was amiss when I asked her for salsa and she replied "taco sauce?". Why didn't I check my order then? But I take my order back to work only to discover 4 beef tacos. I dont eat beef so I drive back down there and take them to the window to let the girl know she got my order wrong. She looks at me like I'm a space alien and ask me "did I charge you for chicken or beef". Using common sense, I would assume beef honey, thats why I have a bag full of wrong tacos. But further more how dare you try to upcharge me the difference when your lack of comprehension caused me another drive to your bum taco stand. If anything you should give me a free horchata or something for my troubles. I told her I didn't know what she charged me for and she walks over to the cook. She comes back AGAIN and ask did I want chicken or beef now. ARE YOU KIDDING? LIKE REALLY? I told her slow ass chicken... AGAIN for like the 3rd time now. After hastily re-wrapping my order, she re-hands the bag to me with the fakest smile I have ever seen, which really meant "eff you". I wanted to try this place since it has good reviews. I just wanted a regular Mexican burrito; carne asada, beans, rice and salsa. Instead, I got one of those Americanized burritos with lettuce, tomatoes and without any rice. The meat was cold and way too salty. I usually end up adding salt to my meals because I like salty but these burritos were just way too much. Then the tortilla tasted a little too much like uncooked flour. I also order a taco which I expected to be simply meat, onions, cilantro and salsa. But I got a taco with cheese. Cheese is good on other items, but not tacos. Guess I should have paid more attention to the menu. On a brighter note, it is inexpensive. I also like the fact that they have a drive thru and the service was good and quick. I had the beef burrito with red sauce... It was so gross. If you like lettuce juice, this burrito is for you. The flavor was that of the lettuce put through a grinder and all the juice added to the burrito. I picked through it to find the three pieces of beef and eat them instead. If they ever tasted their own cooking I'm sure anybody with taste buds would agree. read more

I usually try and eat "vegan", the vegan police are probably after me 'cause I didn't ask about the beans, this girl was hungry And she's was not waiting! Best drive-thru breakfast burrito in Pedro. They only serve it until 11 AM. Good potatoes, and really great salsa make it kick ass.
