The tacos are very cheap and the roast pork and ribeye were great. The carnitas were a little dry but still tasted ok. The food was very fresh and the horchata is great. They are good with special requests (if you ask in Spanish. Not sure how it would go down in English) I order in Spanish because it seems that the staff doesn't speak English well. Keep that in mind. The music is VERY loud. Forget having conversation during dinner. The music is the reason i give 4 stars instead of 5. It's too loud. read more

I've been craving tacos but too busy to make them with a family's worth of errands and chores to do. I decided to stop by El Taco Torro after leaving Menards. Wait was short, only about ten minutes. I got my food to go to bring back to my family. My husband said the burrito was delicious. I forgot to ask for no tomatoes and that usually causes some gripes, but he was too busy enjoying the burrito to complain! The shrimp taco was the better of the two that I had. The chicken taco was surprising soggy on the tortilla but with dry meat. I can give the benefit of maybe the travel time making the tortillas soggy, but the chicken was on the drier side and lacked flavor. read more

We went to the 2915 N. German Church Rd. location last night for the first time just after 8pm, they closed at 9 pm so I'm hoping that was the problem but we were the only one ordering food at the time. We ordered 3 steak tacos, 3 shrimp tacos, 4 chicken tacos, a shrimp chimichanga platter and a guacamole. We spent over $60 and everything was just a NO, I was soooo disappointed in my chimichanga that had nasty refried beans, cut up pieces of shrimp, rice with corn and veggies in it, lettuce and cheese all fried in it, it was the worst I have ever had in my 47 years and I am a foodie. My family did not enjoy ANY of the tacos!!!! The guacamole was the only thing good however it was very spicy and the chips with it was garbage. I hate to leave bad reviews but our dinner was absolutely horrible, I wish I had took pictures before I throw it in the trash. I will not be trying ever again!!! read more

What a great surprise. I know that these little mom and pop places have the best ethnic food, but not being Hispanic I'm always afraid to try. Today I was fortunate to have a coworker bring me here. I had three of the tacos and they were all great. Very fresh ingredients. I stuck with steak and pork for two of them, but for the third I tried something new... Tacos de Cabeza. "Meat of the head". From the outside you wouldn't know what you're gonna get, but I felt like this place would offer my an authentic Mexican experience so I decided to stop by and it was pretty good! I got 3 tacos: steak, pastor, and chorizo with a guava Jarritos. My mom got a carne asade torta and we were both happy with our choices. The pastor taco was the best part of my lunch in my opinion. It was juicy and flavorful! This restaurant is also attached to a Mexican grocery store which me and my mom went to and got a couple candies :). read more

The fajitas Tejanas were fantastic. The only things that kept this from being 5 star were the language barrier (ordering was a tad awkward as they explained I'd be paying more than the menu advertised) and some employee flicking some type of food toward the top of the grill where my food was being prepared. The language thing is fine, but just be aware that none of the employees spoke English (and I know zero Spanish). But I couldn't figure out what was going on with the guy flicking things toward the ceiling. It appeared as though another employee told him to quit playing around. It was doubly strange being that their grill is front and center, right behind the bar. That employee knew that I was watching him behave in this manner. I was worried that whatever he kept flicking (chunks of veggies or meat???) Was going to land in or near my food. I'll go back soon, though, all things considered. read more

Not your typical Mexican restaurant, I was surprised when my burrito did not have the refried black beans on it. I had the chorizo sausage with lettuce, tomato, some onion. The sauce was a mayo base, but something about it was quite good. The restaurant was really warm, no jacket needed. read more

Tasty! This resturant is Mexican style meaning that its set up like a typical casual Mexican diner. It's common to have a "bar" where you can see your food being made. Don't let the area or exterior discourage you. It was really good. The atmosphere is casual and has music, however the music is a little loud to the point you can't really have a good conversation. Even ordering you have to talk loud. This resturant is attached to a Mexican grocery store. It was clean and food was hot delicious and made to order. I was alone and took my food to go. I got 2 asada sopes rice & beans and it was under $12.00 so it's very reasonably priced. I didn't have any trouble ordering, I speak Spanish. Its to loud to use google translate so I suggest you point at the menu since it does have the english translation! (LOL). The employees at this location DID appear to speak english. This is a Mexican Grocery with a restaurant attached. The food i tried was the most authentic Mexican I have had in the Midwest. this is not 4 star dining but it is Huge delicious portions at a a cheap price. The beef Taco was Great. I also purchased a pork burrito. the meat was a bit fatty but otherwise fantastic. The burrito was way more food than i needed. it alone would have filled this big bodied American. I believe this place offered authentic Mexican food. With that said, there were a few red flags. First of all, we had trouble ordering. I do not speak a bit of Spanish, and our waitress, and all staff in proximity did not speak English. This was awkward. There was also an issue with a smartphone-based coupon, which was kind of the entire point of going there in the first place. After a young girl who worked in the adjoining grocery store came over, she advised me that it was her manager's policy that all discount codes had to be physically printed out. She laughed at me when I told her that it wasn't my problem that they have weird rules for discounts. She quickly believed that she had stalemated me with 'It's not my problem, either.', and I was laughed at. When I informed her that it wasn't funny, I was told that the discount would be applied. Here comes the food. It was good; it tasted good, it was priced-well, and the order was accurate. I noticed 2 things - about 5 feet away from me, a waitress was very clearly picking her nose. Also, she had a finger in her mouth for no less than 45 seconds. The ambiance seemed like a practical joke. Authentic music was supplied via tinny PA speakers that had a source supplied from a laptop playing Youtube videos. The televisions were strangely lined with a thick layer of Saran wrap. Very authentic Mexican. Tucked inside a Mexican grocery, this place makes everything to-order. It's all hot and fresh ingredients. You pretty much need to speak Spanish or bring a friend who does to get your order correct. It's a small menu, but you won't be disappointed. Tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas are their main fare. I ordered from here off of grub hub and i ordered a chicken quesadilla and a burrito with a side of beans and rice for both. when it finally arrived the quesadilla was cold, the cheese wasn't melted, and they forgot the chicken in it. They also forgot BOTH orders of beans and rice. I was frustrated because this cost me roughly $30. I called and they made it right but by then they were about to close and didn't care, so my quesadilla was soggy, cheese still wasn't melted, and the beans and rice were cold. also, the beans had the taste and consistency of mushy navy beans. HORRIBLE A delivery driver forgot half of my meal, they never pick up the phone right away I had to call over and over again to ATTEMPT to get this sorted out, after 30 rings they pick up I explain the situtation, the girl on the phone doesn't listen to me and hung up on me when I asked to speak to someone that handled the online ordering. Ridiculous. I call over and over again, someone picks up then hangs up as soon as they pick up. I called over and over until they would pick up obviously furious at this point. They finally put me on the phone with someone who handles the online ordering after saying 'I'm sorry I won't hang up on you'. This person swears the order was there with the delivery guy and acted like I was lying. I asked to speak to the manager and suddenly SHE's the manager right? Long story short they did not take ownership and acted like I was trying to get a free meal, worst customer service I've had in years. THANKFULLY GRUBHUB REFUNDED ME FOR THE MISSING MEAL.
