I just had the most delicious GF vegetable soup here at Il Sole. Wow! I wish I had ordered some to go for later tonight. Lovely outdoor space, and friendly and attentive service. I will be back!

Friday, September 27, 2023 @1:00 pm "The higher the clouds, the finer the weather" and indeed it was. My daughter Brandy and I were looking for a place to have lunch in the Inwood section of Manhattan and she chose this restaurant. Iiana, was the only waitress at this time and she had several other tables to wait on, yet she didn't fail to check and see how everything was and if we needed anything else. Brandy's dish was the chicken scampi with linguine. The menu says shrimp scampi, but she requested chicken instead. I had chicken francaise with linguine, seasoned with garlic and oil. Both dishes were good. Il Sole has a relaxing atmosphere and good customer service plus live jazz every Thursday from 4:30 - 7:30 pm. #ilsole #ilsolerestaurant #nyc #dinner #lunch #seafood #pasta #pizza #soup #salad #livejazz #greatcustomerservice #forkfeed #good #foodblog #foodiesofinstagram #foodstagram #foods #instablogger #instagramblog #instafood #instagramblogger #instragram

Went for a quick lunch and was seated right away. There was only 2 tables occupied and this is the Sunday before Memorial Day. The server was friendly, food came quickly, and the price was affordable. The bathrooms were clean too.

The place is nice and owner is super nice. We had the baked stuffed clams and ordered a second one. I had the penne a la vodka which was good but needed some salt. The chicken parmigiana was good and big portion. The service was great. Overall, I would go back to try other dishes and Jazz on a Thursday night.

I haven't been to this restaurant in years. Recently went back and it didn't disappoint. It got a face-lift and expanded since I last visited. Indoor and outdoor seating available. We had the chicken franchise and lobster ravioli, both delicious. The drinks were yummy too. I really enjoyed the red sangria. Will go again.

The food was amazing. I wouldn't mind getting the vodka pasta again but the next time I go I'll try something else (I have my eyes on the birria pizza). The lasagna was amazingggg omg, such a good portion too. Pull apart bread was great and was a nice touch to the pasta. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super helpful, made recommendations and was very accommodating. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was really quiet but we didn't mind. I'll be back for sure.

Had my birthday dinner here and enjoyed every minute. The staff were so attentive. We were a large group of 16 ppl and we loved every single dish. We had the restaurant almost to ourselves which was a plus we loved the service so much that we decided to just stay after dinner for hookah, drinks and music . The manager Bryan was great and communication with him was super easy . I'm so happy I chose this place for my bday dinner. Will definitely return .

The food here was so amazing, honestly finding Italian food is so hard sometimes. But the penne alla vodka with grilled chicken was soooo good. The berria pizza was so delicious and don't forget to ask for the Burria soup

Honestly I just came here last night to have a couple of beers. First impression was excellent, the place smelled really good, clean. Drinks menu is different and they have many many options of liquors. The service was excellent, they really made me feel like they wanted me to have a good time. Next time I'll try out the food.

I frequent my visits in the Dyckman strips for years now, but for whatever reason never stepped foot into Il Sole. Went on a Friday night after work to catch the happy hour which consisted of $6 Sangria, Margaritas, and I believe some beers. Me and my friend had the sangria to kick off then later on the passion fruit margarita. We sat at the bar and was serviced by the AMAZING bartender Gabby! We were soo impressed with her service as it's rate to find within the surrounding establishments. She was very attentive to us and made us feel comfortable throughout our whole stay. We did order some appetizers which hit the spot too. Overall, great customer service, good ambiance although small, but cute. Good for small groups and music not too loud that allows for conversation. I would definitely go back and recommend to others. I look forward trying some of the entrees.

Baba Al Rum was also tasty, as was the Orecchiette. Rigatoni was salty, but well-flavored. I visited a popular Italian restaurant from the Union Square Hospitality group with a group of five others. The restaurant is quite large, and although it was somewhat noisy, the tables were spaced apart enough that it was easy to hear everyone. We had an early dinner at 5:45 PM, which took quite a while, but I didn't mind. To drink, I went with the Bitter Giuseppe for $19, with Cynar 45.3, Punt e Mes, lemon, and sea salt. I'm a fan of most Negronis, and this was a particularly bitter version. The bit of lemon and sea salt added a unique but enjoyable flavor at the end, though in retrospect, the salt probably wasn't super necessary. Two of us split, and eventually, a few of us ordered their signature appetizer, the $18 Cast Iron Focaccia, with tomato conserva, a mixture of crushed tomatoes, olive oil, and Calabrian chili. The bread was fresh and warm, albeit a tad oily and salty, but it paired wonderfully with the conserva. As someone who doesn't like it when bread is extra, this was delicious and worth it. Another person ordered the $18 Insalata Verde. It was very large, but fairly basic, with a vinaigrette that had a citrusy and mustardy flavor. There was also the Caramelized Onion Torta for $27, which was very large, as expected for the price point. It had a creamy and tangy flavor from the Pecorino Toscano with some sweetness from the onion. It was delicious, but very heavy, and I would recommend that around three or four people split it alongside the focaccia. Finally, there was also the $15 Pizza Bianca, which was easily the smallest of all the plates, but they still enjoyed it. My main dish was the Orecchiette for $26, with ramps, pistachio, and pecorino. Like most of their dishes, the portion size was quite large, with plenty of pasta, which was perfectly cooked. The ramps added a touch of sweetness, although I would have liked a few more nuts. Additionally, there was almost too much pecorino, which made the dish slightly salty, but it was still enjoyable. As a side, I got the $19 Grilled Asparagus with dates, vermouth, and blue cheese, which came with many pieces of lightly charred asparagus. While there was plenty of funky blue cheese, I would have preferred more dates. Two of the others got the Rigatoni Alla Gricia for $30. The portion was large, and I tried a bit while they tried mine. The noodles were again cooked perfectly, and while there was a lot of guanciale, this was easily the saltiest of all the dishes. For dessert, I chose their Baba AU Rum for $18, which was uniquely mixed with chocolate and orange. The presentation was a bit off, as it looked like a certain emoji, but the flavor made up for it. The subtle hint of rum paired with the bitter-sweet chocolate and orange. The dark chocolate-covered orange slice on top was a nice touch as well. Someone else got a tart, and one other person got the Gelati, which resulted in one of the only faults during service. She heard it was two scoops, and ordered espresso stracciatella and hazelnut, but was given two separate orders for $12 each. The gelato was good, but unlike most things, definitely not worth it for the price. I liked the appetizers much more, but I found the food good overall. Tasty dessert, and the portions make up at least a bit for the relatively higher prices.

We started with the housemade focaccia and Wagyu carpaccio--both were outstanding, with the perfect balance of crispy, flavorful, and fresh elements. My partner and I shared the pasta, hangar steak, and potatoes, which turned out to be the ideal amount for two. We finished with the famous olive oil cake, which we loved for its subtly sweet, moist and tender bite. Served with lightly whipped cream and raisins, the combination was surprisingly delicious. We were also touched by the complimentary anniversary scoop of ice cream. The interior seating is a bit snug, but the decor is beautiful--elegant yet homey. The service was good as well. Overall, we highly recommend L'Artusi for a special night out!

L'Artusi has been on my radar for a while, ever since I heard it was a hot spot and saw reviews of…read moreit being one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.

I read the reviews mostly good so I was hoping for the best. My friends and I were not disappointed. The first thing I noticed was there were 7 people in my party and 4 arrived early and did not have to wait for my arrival to be seated. Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage. I am not really a pasta eater but baby that dish could change that; it was DELICIOUS. I even liked the anchovy dressing on my Caesar Salad and I dislike anchovies. All the dishes ordered (chicken parm, mussels chicken paillard etc.) everyone enjoyed them immensely. The only negative was when the Chicken Paiikard arrived it was supposed to a shared dish by the elderly couple and they asked for regular dinner plates from one of the servers. It took the gentleman who took our order to step in and said sure, lucky their food was still hot. Common Sense is not so common for all. But this will not lower my rating as it was taken care of swiftly. The portions were the perfect size and I was not stuffed but pleasantly satified.
