Best comfort food for hang over or for kicking with frds with healthy food. Owner are very nice. I would said it is likely family style, not like the commercial strong oily taste or salty flavor and I dun feel any msg on their soup.

I had to come in for menudo but saw sopes being made. I just had to try them and ordered a asada and carnitas on, oh and my menudo. Well I got home and found out I over did it! The sopes were HUGE! Well now I have food for 2 days, service is always excellent and the restaurant was slow when I got there! Yum, will be back again soon.

Burrito was good and service was really good the chilaquiles mild sauce (green) were good and decent portions ! the burrito wasn't greasy ! it was good and full as well

This is the place to go when Menudo is what you're craving, among the vast array of freshly prepared mexican dishes. A hole in wall place west of the city of El Monte. this place offers great tasting food, which most of it is prepared when ordered. As soon as you come inside the restaurant, the kitchen is right in front of you with staff cooking up food and greeting you at the same time. They offer alcoholic beverages as well like beers and micheladas. As well as soft drinks and aguas frescas.

Menu with new prices. I thought my dinner was supposed to be around $15, my bill was 24.. confused ..how much was that big drink??

Foodie friends recommended this place Very friendly helpful service from lady at counter. Friendly owner too. It's called El Taquito so I should have ordered the taquito platos combination. But I got the chile relleno instead. I always get chile relleno in every new Mex place I visit...no matter what...the plate was a feast for the eyes, lots of delicious sauce...scary how many sliced jalapeños but no seeds so not spicy....looking under the chile relleno was not whole or breaded, it looked roasted and not clear if it was stuffed...looked to me like the pepper was sliced or shredded but definitely the stem was in evidence. A puzzling dish as the taste of the sauce was good but couldn't tell if the cheese was inside the nearly absent relleno or simply melted on top along with the blanket of sauce. 3/5. The rice was flavorful, fluffy 4/5..I liked the frijoles 4/5 but it was a small portion like the size of my palm. I got three corn tortillas, hot to touch, and chewy which I liked. 5/5. The combination also came with salad with radishes and sliced tomato, cut lettuce. I could tell if there was a dressing or not. 3/5 Next time -- order what my fellow Yelpies recommended...the wet burritos, the menudo, or the tacos....or their namesake.. taquitos. But pass on the chile relleno. Oh - the Jamaica was good, and the cup was gigantic!! Nice balance of sweet and tart. I never got a check so I just walked up to counter. I rang up at about $24 before tip...the menu said the chile relleno was about $15, so just how much was that big drink? Note to self, get a cheque next time, so I wont pay then walk away confused about the prices.

Best wet burrito in town! Go for the chile enchilada red or the green verde sauce or half and half! Both excellent! This long standing hole in the wall provides regulars and locals some of the best Mexican food at the best prices with generous portions! Always super busy with folks taking out burritos, requires, enchiladas and even breakfast and menudo. Family second generation ran with super friendly service! They make everything from scratch and their flour tortillas are so delicious! They also serve a variety of Mexican beers at Great prices. Counter service with small dining room. Best Mexican in the area!

I told my dad we can anywhere he wants for Father's day. He picked here because he was craving menudo. He is a regular. They had seating. They came and served us fast. I got the mojarra frita plate. It didn't disappoint. The fish was a great size. Perfectly seasoned. The fries aren't frozen. They're perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was so much food. I couldn't finish it. The rice had great flavor too. My dad and his girl were happy with the menudo. It was a good portion. They give tostadas with 2 homemade chiles. My wife got the popcorn shrimp plate and couldn't finish either. Excellent service, prices, and food. We will definitely be back.

This place has bar none the best Mexican food in Rosemead. The food is always fresh, made to order. Sure, it takes a few more minutes than most Mexican places, but it is so worth it! I've tried the enchiladas, chile verde, tacos (asada, carnitas), quesadilla, asada wet burrito, and probably others in my multiple visits, and they are all excellent. Their green sauce is very spicy, but very delicious. The workers/owner is very friendly as well. The only downside is that they close early in the evening (8pm?). read more

I've wanted to stop into this place for a while. I guess the stars lined up today and I finally made it. I didn't know what to order and asked for suggestions. Ended up getting the birria de chivo ( goat stew). It was delicious. I already have my eye on some other dishes like the chile relleno plate and lengua in chile verde. Can't wait. Came to this place on 11/5 with some friends and left extremely happy and satisfied. I had the lengua combinacion con arroz y frijoles (tongue combination with rice and beans for you spanish novices). The tongue was literally melt in your mouth/fork tender and came smothered in a green sauce, quite possibly one of the best tongues I've experienced (hehe). The chips that they provide are pretty unique, they're just whole fried (corn?) tortillas served with green and red sauce, tasty as well. The service was friendly and everyone was hospitable. Now this is a real Mexican Restaurant! There traditional Mexican creations are magical, drawing the maximum of flavor from the very freshest of ingredients. My all time favorite is the Green Asada Wet Burrito! DELISH! But then again there Menudo is awesome too! You walk in and your part of the family. Martin and Consuelo are so helpful and nice. It seems like your waking into there kitchen at home. Come give it a try you wont regret it! read more

I came to El Taquito because my mom and sister wanted Mexican food. We weren't too hungry, so we decided to get a large menudo and a carnitas torta to share between the three of us. The food we got was delicious and well worth the $10 we paid. The three of us thought the carnitas really good and the torta was one of the best I've ever had. I thought the menudo was perfect, but my mom said it was a little salty. We asked for some hot water for my mom's portion and the cook made another bowl for her instead. The cook was very nice and went beyond to give us a perfect meal. read more

Ok this was my.first time coming me and my family go in its spacious we were the only people there customer service was good. She brought us salsa and chips i got some nachos de asada my husband got the torta de milanesa and i.also got a gordita.The nnachos didn't have.much carne the carne was dry and almost burnt. The gordita i got it of carnitas didn't even taste like carnitas gross..the only thing i really liked was the horchata.never coming back...Try it at ur own risk!! read more

Best authentic Mexican meal you will have in all of El Monte. Hubby and myself stop here for their menudo every other Sunday. And our kids absolutely LOVE the Birria here. Never tasted any better. Staff is super nice, very attentive and good quality. Family atmosphere. read more

To make it clear-NO CREDIT CARDS accepted. That's not a problem in my book we always carry a $20 just in case. Anywho, I ordered the Steak picado, and it was delicious! Juicy, flavorful, huge plate with salad, rice and beans! Huge portions, wonderful tasting food. The Steak Picado is juicy, flavorful and tender. The sauce is yummayy and very flavorful also, not too thick, not too thin. All in all, pretty darn good! read more

It is a hole in the wall, so you'll want to get your food to go. The chilaquiles was excellent. This is not an easy dish to do well. I would definitely go back just for that. The fish tacos were fairly good. The rice and beans were just ok. The red and green salsa were ok but definitely on the hot side for a gringo like me. The pina agua fresca tasted like canned pineapple juice. They must have better drinks. I think you just have to know what to get here, but this is definitely above average Mexican food. read more

This is my new go to Mexican joint! So far I've tried their al pastor, carnitas and carne asada wet burritos. All of them were really good but the al pastor was my favorite. Chef Martin is really cool and laid back and recommended that I try their menudo as its a popular seller, so I'll be getting that the next time I drop by. Great prices, great service and most importantly great food, what more could you ask for? read more

Hole in the joint, chile so far is great, mexican cokes and cans, no fountain drank. Apparently they do not clean tables from previous guests until someone comes in and wants to sit down and eat. Easy 7 tables full of old dishes and trash (some with tips) on the table from who knows how long ago. Waitress told us to "sit down" and she'll come by to clean the table we sit at. Picked the less dirtiest one didnt need any old food debris flying all over me while she comes by to clean it #monte read more

I came here based on the good reviews. The place is small, but clean. The prices are pretty good. I really wanted a torta de chorizo, which wasn't on the menu, but they were kind enough to make. The chorizo was good, but it was wrapped in foil. By the time I got back to work I had steamed soggy bread, yuck. it should have been wrapped in paper. I will probably give it another chance. read more

So do with that as you will. Locals must think this is good food. Located in a tiny corner strip mall on a desolate street is this little breakfast/brunch place. I wish I had listened to the 1 star reviews and not gone in. I especially wish I had seen that Yelp had their health listing rated at C before I ordered. Isn't it the law that a restaurant must display their health rating in the window, cause it wasn't displayed anywhere to be seen. So first they brought out a large jug of water with some fruit slices and mint in it. Would've been nice if the water wasn't room temperature. Is the ice machine not working? Then came the best part of the entire meal - my hazelnut latte. The coffee was good and the cup is gigantic. My teen had the french toast, eggs (scrambled), and bacon plate. The one slice of french toast was okay but nothing special. The eggs were bland and lacking any seasoning including salt and pepper. The bacon, of which I got a side for myself, too, was absolutely disgusting. At first I thought the bacon had been cooked possibly on a dirty grill in old grease or right after something else had been cooked, as it had a horrendous aftertaste like rotten meat and sweaty gym socks. They made a new plate but this one was raw, despite being ordered well done and crispy. Raw. And it absolutely stunk. That was when I came to think it might be uncured pork belly like you get a Korean KBBQ and not bacon at all. Luckily they cancelled the order. I also got a side of the breakfast (rosemary) potatoes, which I also ordered crispy and well done but arrived as a scoop of mush. They tasted okay but I saw crispy potatoes at numerous other tables. Don't know why they couldn't cook as ordered. I also had the dutch baby. I'm sorry but this is a dessert bread pudding and not a real dutch baby pancake. The inside should be airy and fluffy, not sopping wet. I'm not sure if the inside was undercooked and possibly raw dough or if they make it with some sweetened cream inside. It was not good, and it was way too sweet. Instant diabetes sweet. I will never go back. I strongly recommend that all people stay as far away as possible. The service was good - friendly and attentive, but what good is that when the food is so awful? I also had severe stabbing pains in my stomach for a couple hours after getting home. Avoid at all costs!

Plus, they're CASH ONLY so plan ahead! With that said, what drew me to this place were the numerous social media videos about the affordability of this place, so I knew I had to try it. The lady that owns it is super friendly. The videos were right! Each place ranges anywhere from $8-15 depending on what it is, FAR cheaper than other places. I was expecting it to be more American Chinese, but the flavors were pretty good (as a Chinese person who knows home cooking) and might be what you consider as a 'mix' in Chinese flavors. Is it the most amazing Chinese food? Not really, but it's decently good, and I liked it considering the price you pay for it. I will definitely be coming back here.

EL Taquito absolutely blew me away. From the moment me and my husband walked in, the service was welcoming and the food was beyond amazing. Every bite tasted fresh, authentic, and made with care. The flavors were rich, perfectly seasoned, and honestly some of the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. The portions were generous, the atmosphere felt comfortable and lively, and you can tell this place takes pride in what they serve. The burritos, tacos, and chile verde were unforgettable. Everything came out hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. What really stood out was how consistent and quality driven this place is. You don't just eat here you experience it. This is the kind of restaurant you keep thinking about after you leave and immediately want to come back to. If you're anywhere near El Monte, do yourself a favor and try EL Taquito. Easily 10/10.
