El Tarasco is in Manhattan Beach. There are a few of them, but this is the first one and the best. It is a little place with mostly counter seating. You can eat there, get it to go or have delivery. The place is old, but well maintained and really cute. They make you feel at home there. The service is great. They are fast and your meal is served hot and perfect. It has the best Mexican food in Manhattan beach. Parking can be a bear, but you will fine a spot on the street. You may need to walk uphill a bit. It is right next to the Manhattan Beach Pier and there are great places to walk. The food is amazing. We love all of it, but their enchiladas with rice and beans are the best and they make a great burrito. They also have super guacamole and their beverage selection is great. This place gets two stars from me because the food is actually good. If I'm ever in the area, I will literally have a taste for it. So like yesterday, I decided to stop by and grab a burrito, but unfortunately, this will be the last time. I usually visit this location with my dad. He's been coming to this location since before I was born and I'm damn near 40. But this time I came alone and the place was packed. They don't have a big seating area. It's like a bar with about four seats to the right and four seat seats to the left so it doesn't accommodate many people, so people order to go. And that was my plan. I walk in and the server (with his chef at and money taped to it) and I grab the same menu. He allows me to have it, and he grabs another and gives it to one of the customers. I say all this to say that he definitely knows exactly when I arrived. However, A white man walks up less than a minute later and for some reason he decides to ask him if he ready to order, as if I'm invisible. This was the second time that this happened to me today and God knows how many times has happened to me in life. So at some point, I just have to stop ignoring the fact that Black people aren't welcome in certain spaces. Maybe we are by law, but not at all met with respect! That is all! read more

This is by far the best Mexican food! Want to know why? Because it's a little hole in the wall, but the food is AMAZING! It's authentic Mexican food. Super fresh and cooked right in front in you. It can fit maybe 15 people. It's such a cool little joint right by the beach. You know it's good because people are literally waiting for a seat inside. The workers are really on it and super tentative. You can't go wrong with this place. I should have taken food pics but I devoured it along with my kids.! One thing to note is we live in Calabasas and we drive out here for this food. My husband introduced me to this place 16 years ago and it's become one of my favorite spots. Ok this is some of the best food that exists. I always have the Jr Super burrito and it's incredible. Sometimes having it to go in the little aluminum container adds something to it. Been coming here for over 5 years, but the steak quality has definitely gone down. It doesn't have much flavor anymore. I also feel like prices might be lower now, but it comes with a cost in the food. I might start requesting that the meat be tossed back on the grill to get more char and asking for a little extra searing. The meat had no taste, kind of chewy, rice was Ok and hardly any lettuce (why bother) and the sauce was average. The waitress is new (so she said) because I was asking for suggestions and was told that blue lettered items are the most popular so decided to try the "carne asada" wet burrito. First time coming to try this spot after a day at the beach. Ordered the taquitos, hard shell taco and bean & cheese burrito. The burrito was decent/OK. I mean, it was a bean and cheese so it should be, right? The taquitos were soggy and the hard shell taco was soft and wet/ soggy too. I've never had soggy taquitos before. Taco had too much sauce so it was impossible to be a hard shell. Pretty disappointed. They're generous with the chips and salsa but other than that I wouldn't come back. However, there are table benches on the rooftop. I tried the carne asada burrito- it came with carne asada, pico del gallo and guacamole. The chips and salsa are also amazing as well. Simple and delicious. Parking can be challenging. Metered parking is available.
