Steak Nachos - was alright, steak is very very dry. Nachos were quite dry and overly baked. I would pass on this. Chicken Quesadilla - ordinary, great for kids. Carne Asada Y Camarones - pretty filling and was good. Steak was a little tough and well done, server didn't ask how I would like it. Shrimp had a great grilled smoky flavor. Filet Mignon Enchiladas & Mesquite Grilled Shrimp - enchiladas were soaked in sauce as I prefer them to be. Filet Mignon was quite fatty and chewy. Shrimp Enchiladas - was much better than filet mignon, simple but texture much preferred. Mesquite Grilled Steak (Fajitas)- quite flavorful, best dish we ordered. Would love to order this again. We have been coming to this El Torito for Happy Hour for more than 10 years! We went in tonight to find out their HH menu has completely changed: Cadillac Margaritas are $14 (they were $8), chips cost $3 now, and they got rid of our favorite smoky salsa and taco trios for HH. Our bill was more than double what we usually pay. We will try their Taco Tuesday next week. I will say our server was wonderful! read more

They sneak a 4.99% surcharge at the end and try to blame California rather than their inability to properly run a business that pays their workers minimum wage. It's a shame to see them just pass any additional costs onto their customers with a fine print fee rather than structuring a business in a way that can afford to pay their workers minimum wage. I will not be returning, as I do not believe in supporting businesses who use political tactics to increase their profits. Cha Cha's down the street is a true local business, not a chain, and does not include a surcharge for all customers. Shame to see this place go downhill, but I'd avoid if possible. They continue to increase the cost of this surcharge over time by 1%. read more

Came here for taco Tuesday with my husband and parents. My mom found a long blond hair in one of her tacos, intertwined between the meat (not even at the top). My mom has short black hair and I have curly black hair and given how the hair was inside the taco meat, it couldn't possibly have been one of ours. Our server "Adriana" didn't think it was a huge deal. She advised my mom to simply get another taco. No apology, did not even try to make things better. The guy serving the tacos was a lot more considerate and offered us to get anything we wanted, but my mom is super picky and felt nauseous, so she didn't want to eat anything after the incident. My parents were visiting from Texas and Im so disappointed that they had this terrible experience. Never coming back. read more

Going downhill! The tortillas are still complimentary (and good) but they now charge $3 for chips and salsa. They don't tell you that until you've waited a long time to get your chips (I think it's expected at a Mexican restaurant that chips and salsa are complimentary!) We paid for the chips but they are bad. The restaurant's management should go to Chili's and taste their chips. They are great! Light and crispy AND free! The second surprise we got was some kind labor surcharge at the bottom of the bill! It was only about $3.00 but I hate being deceived! Service is always very attentive and nice, there's a gentleman who usually serves us when we sit outside in the patio who is ALWAYS taking great care of us. I don't want to be disrespectful but he's bald, I wish I remembered his name.. but the bottomless mimosas got me forgetting some important details! This location has a carving station (tritip and pork ribs), taco station (al pastor, carne asada, chicken, beans), green/red cheese enchiladas, mole, birria, chile colorado, ceviche, seafood cocktail, aguachiles, menudo, and more! So overall a pretty great selection, but then comes price. It's $50 per person not including drinks.. we also got hit with a surcharge on our bill, it was a party of 4 so I doubt it was for gratuity and we didn't even put a card down yet.. so not a processing fee either. Service and food were good, but not $50 good. If it was $50 including mimosas then sure okay, but for food only.. it's worth more like $25 to $35 tops. read more

Went for taco Tuesday . IMO , this place was not really good . I entered the bar area , sat down was greeted by the bar tender . I asked for a beer and was then directed to the taco bar area . I walked to the taco bar and honestly, the food was Not tasty . Cold , no flavor at all ! I tried to Dr it up with salsas and condiments, but it was still bad and tasteless. I would not go back . The feel in the bar area is nice , but that's it . I'll stick to Lupe's burritos and king taco ! And El Tepayec ! Not a place where you can eat and enjoy. Too fu fu for me . I had never been to this establishment and dined here before. However, I went there on Cinco de Mayo for my first time. The food was fantastic. The vibe was amazing and the restaurant was great. With that said, the server that me and my party had that evening was not great at all. To make a long story short, not only did the manager who is working that evening make things right. The general manager (Miguel) made things even better. I will absolutely be coming back to this place to dine again simply based on the fact that the managerial staff, in my opinion, really went above and beyond to make sure that my first experience and an experiences after that, we're not bad due to one bad staff member. I i'm very grateful for what the GM did. I dine there again last night and it was a GREAT experience. I will absolutely be coming back to this place to dine again. read more

The last El Torito Grill left! It's not exactly the same as a regular El Torito. They always offer freshly made flour tortillas with honey butter which are great piping hot. Sadly they no longer doing the weekday lunch buffet. Violet here is always super friendly and helpful. I don't drink much but they have a nice bar as well. I had a sampler platter this time it wasn't too bad. I always enjoy the corn cake thingy El Toritos have too. read more

4% surcharge is not disclosed anywhere other than when you receive your check. When I asked what it was for I was told that it is so they don't raise their prices. That's a very deceptive practice to stick it to your customers instead of just raising your prices & let the customer decide if the value of the food is worth the cost. We paid a generous tip to the wait staff because they were great. They deserve their full tip but I'm sure people just subtract the surcharge from the tip, which isn't fair to the wait staff working so hard. read more
