Rose S. is an excellent and very great server. She is very welcoming and friendly. She is honest, funny, and accommodating.

I came in tonight with my partner a little before closing time. We where the last table still eating. The food was very delicious, even though it initially came out wrong and we still waited for it to be fixed. very detailed we enjoyed the food though.The only issue that I had was that the girl that served us, was a bit inattentive or she seemed distracted. I get it; its near closing time and everyone wants to go home. I just didn't appreciate the distraction while we where still having dinner. She hardly checked if we where doing ok, while she kept going to the back of the restaurant to sit down and then had the other nice gentleman finish helping us. we where able to hear her conversations with her co workers in the back of the restaurant (lots of cussing in spanish involved) which kind of made our experience disappointing.Other than that food was great!. read more

Why is it every time we go to el Torito in Hawthorne, we have to wait to be seated , we see that half of the restaurant is empty. Service has decreased dramatically, we love to patronize this restaurant, since every time we go, instead going to do better is going belly up. We average in spending about $200 or more. Been going to el Torito for years have nothing to say about the one in Hawthorne excellent service every time I go there but last night went to the one in Lakewood HORRIBLE service they took like ten minutes to even take our drink order usually they bring chips and salsa when you sit down we'll didn't happen after they took our order it was another ten minutes before they came with the drinks they even forgot the shot that came with the margarita that we order another five minutes to get our food order never had this experience at this restaurant before and it wasn't ' t that they were busy we came in around 9:30 never seen the waiter after they took our order even to ask for the bill took a while will definitely not go there again can't say anything about the one in Hawthorne there're always real attentive with the customers I should and will stick to that restaurant in the future just a bad experience in the Lakewood facility. read more

Let me start with the restaurant wasn't busy at all, they were serving some people. My family and I came for taco Tuesday, the service was really bad. We waited for someone to come greet us and get us a table for a while. We went straight to the bar so we can have some drinks and eat some tacos, the one server that works that area suddenly disappeared. We waited for a few mins until we decided to reach to someone who can get us a table, everyone was dismissive and rude to us. Until someone told us to wait and had to go and beg the servers to help us with our simple order(print a receipt for out tacos, so we can get them from the taco area). I usually liked to come here, we will take our business elsewhere. read more

Just had a great dinner with 5 kids being a little lod especially the baby. The atmosphere was great and the new waitress Kristen was awesome she made sure everyone was happy and that we got everything we wanted and more!!!! To top it off it was her first day! Ordered 'Papas Caliente', supposedly nice spicy mexican fries. They made me pay $9 for the saddest buch of fries I've ever seen with a lousy cup of ketchup. No quality cooking! My main course was good and tasty though. read more

This place is horrible! We ordered fajitas and when we received them they were burnt! We tried to eat them and the taste was burnt tasting. We informed the waitress and she said she would get us new veggies as of that would solve the problem. All we wanted was new cooked fajitas not burnt food. read more

I just popped in for a quick bite for lunch with a friend. I ordered the table side guacamole, fajitas Chiquitas and a spicy mango margarita. The food was average tasting, nothing amazing. Upon being seated that service was a little slow at first. How come restaurants are so stingy with napkins? We asked for napkins as the only napkins provided were with the table settings and they literally brought 2 paper napkins. read more

This El Torito still has the original taco Tuesday with $1.50 tacos - you can get chicken, asada or carnitas. What makes the tacos so great is the handmade tortillas and salsa bar witha few salsas, onions, cilantro, etc. I came here for Happy Hour with my bestie. The tortillas and salsa were fresh. I only spent like $9 altogether on my tacos and beer! My friend ordered the Sangria but said it tasted like it was just juice and not much alcohol. They let her take it back for a magarita instead. I had no complaints with my beer! This place was packed on Taco Tuesday! So you may have to wait to get seated. read more

Well starting off this review let me just say that I guess I will not be visiting the el toritos on 11855 s Hawthorne Blvd for a long while . I took my wife to this one today on Valentines Day because we useually love the service and food, but for some reason today was the worst experience I've ever had there. First off our server didn't seem to know the menu. When I asked if there where there any onions in any of the food (Because I'm allergic to them) and ask that there be no onions on any of it . She told me that there were only onions on one item on what we where ordering and that I would be able to brush it off. Other then that the pico de giyo was made with onions in it. Ok so the one item that she said was the only thing that had onions on it was fine my wife likes it so I just wouldn't eat it that problem was solved . (So I thought) When the food came I started eating nachos and casadia. And soon found out it had onions all in them. ..... so I hurried and went into the restroom to get the onions out of my system and after I did I went back and found the manager let her know my issue. ( but still just figuring it was all just a mistake) She made sure to put in another order without onions. ( mind you it's only the sampler appetizer and I didn't even eat what they told me had onions in it) So now I'm drinking water& soda and eating chips to calm my stomach...... trying to have a nice Valentines Day not wanting to spoil it for my wife. Next our food comes and there's grilled onions in the fajitas (don't forget I asked for no onions ) there's onions sprinkled on my rice. So instead of acting like one of the people that I see & dislike always nitpicking and causing a scene asking the server if they know how to take a order . I just scooped off the onions that were on my rice and scraped all the onions from the fajitas and gave them to my Wife . Then started to eat and try to calm my stomach. Well that didn't help cause I ended up have to rush to the restroom again and couldn't keep my food down. Washed up and was on my way back to my seat and halfway there I had to run back in. So ... now the end of the meal. ... stomach still feeling upset . Now light headed from not being able to keep anything down. We ask to have the desert ina Togo box and the server lets us know that it'll be 3 to 5 mins. So I go to the manager and ask if I could get a small discount due to not being able to keep the food down ? That's when she informs me that she already took off the the second order of appitizers (in which I didn't ask for them to remake)and what I thought she was supposed? And I reminded her that I wasn't the one who messed up my order , I told the server I was allergic to onions. So she said she would take off the other order of appetizers to then. I didn't feel like arguing so I said fine. We paid the bill and waited for the desert...... 15 mins pass and nothing..... 5 mins later the server Gos on break ( didn't let me know like the other servers have in the past when they do to say that another server will be helping us) I had to hear it from another costumer so I waved down the manager and ask about our desert , she went back and came with a plate in which my wife had to ask about a to go box. Got it and we where leaving when the manager stoped me to say I still owed them $31.00. ??????? Yes I said excuse me?? She told me I still had a balance of $31.00 and I informed her that I paid the balance in full. So then after speaking to her a lil while she said that the server must have made a mistake. ( all I dealt with is mistakes on this visit for a lunch date with my wife today... and on Valentine Day of all days) .......... And if I didn't mention it in my not so short story yet.... it wasn't even busy yet when me and my wife went in. It was about 1:30 or 2:00pm. read more

I went yesterday evening with my mother and grandmother, we traveled to and back from temecula and we decided on our way back to come to this resteraunt. We waited over an hour to be seated even though there were 7 parties ahead of us, I firmly believe we were skipped over several times. Once we were seated three ignoramus waiters didn't deem to bring either drinks or chips just for the inconvenience and just passed us over. First time at this particular location (usually go to the Marina Del Rey location) and was very pleased with the location. Our server, Caesar, was wonderful. You can tell he loves his job, but most important, loves people. Food came out great. The only slight down fall was the slowness of the taco line.
