Im going to start things off by saying that this is by far the worst El Torito i've ever been to. My husband and I just got back to LA from being on vacation and we missed Mexican food, looked on google maps and figured "yumm el torito should do the trick." We get there on a Tuesday night not knowing that it is their all you can eat day for 13.99 so it is packed! We manage to get seats, but when we start to order (table side guacamole) the server says "we are out of avocados" @$%??? What kind of Mexican food establishment doesn't have guacamole? Anyway, the 3 stars is because the interior looked old, uncared for, quite unclean, smelly in a bad way, no guacamole, and for the chicken fajitas being too dry...The service was good, quick, and the rest of the food, delicious like always...although i did miss the Guac! Needless to say, if i ever find myself near the LAX area again, i will not be having dinner here or telling my friends about it. read more

El Torito's Hawthorne is so good. Everyone greets you, everyone offers to help. Tonight Rosemarie, and Terri took care of me, their service is phenomenal! Also, I don't know their name, but there is a young man that works the bar area, he came out to speak to me, and offered to help me. Also the young lady that seated me took my order and offered to help me so that I would not have to wait. She came back to make sure my food was right, she wasn't even my waitress, she was the young lady that seats you. Everyone was just so helpful and so nice to me. Went out with managers & supervisors for our coworker birthday, & I've been to this El Toritos so many times & finally ran into the the greatest waiter ever His Name was Ceasar , He had the most upright personality, threw a couple jokes in, made yu feel welcoming to more drinking, Like completely fucking awesome & on top of that we got free dessert on the house to top of the night.!!! The food here had a lot to be desired.. The tacos were meaty but so reminiscent of Taco Bell's grade D steak that I thought I was in the wrong place. We ended up with scraps from the bottom of the pan that tasted as if the cook had burnt the pot. In addition the carnitas was dry and looked strange.. It was hard to eat because the flies were attacking our table. We ordered hot wings but there was nothing fresh about them the were just microwaved hot. I used to go here with a group of Co- Workers for Taco Tuesday Happy Hour because it was close to work and such. But don't expect to get seating in the bar area if you get there later than 4-4:30. They are usually understaffed so it takes a little time to order food/drinks and to have them delivered to the table. The outside of the restaurant is always crawling with people begging for money so if that makes you uncomfortable, you should probably just go to the Manhattan Beach location on Sepulveda Blvd. Way better atmosphere and service. read more

Sunday we decided to have a late lunch and try out El Torito. Their Happy Hour is from 3 to 7pm, perfect timing. We waiting about 15 minutes to be seated, staff seemed very nice and welcoming at the door. Seating is first come. They will take your name and call you when your table is ready. Waiting area outside and in. Once at our table we were promptly served chips and salsa, which is not spicy but absolutely surprisingly FULL of flavor!! We pretty much devoured 3 salsa servings before our food even came ! YUMMMM !!! At the suggestion of our server, who was very very nice, we tried their Diamond Margarita. I have to say that I am not one who likes margaritas on the rocks, but this one definitely ROCKED!!! It has Patron Roca Silver, Hennessy, and some mixture of citrus juices, and they serve it chilled shaken, the best part is they actually leave the full shaker at the table with each drink ordered. You can easily get 2 to 3 servings out of each shaker. Be warned that this drink is $13, not on the happy hour menu. Ok moving on..... Food: Excellent ! I had cheese quesadilla with stir fried veggies inside hubby had the "Macho Combo" something.....sorry I forgot the name :-( It was a combo with an enchilada, tamale, taco, beans, rice, and a chili relleno. I have to say, he said it was ALL AMAZING !! My son had chicken strips, fries, and fruit. He also loved it. Environment and Staff: Everything was clean, TV was viable form our table, servers were all very friendly and continued to check on us every 5 to 8 min. If our main server didn't stop by, we were asked by at least 3 other servers if we needed anything. Drinks never went dry, and we never had to wait for anything. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful. Seating was comfortable. I noticed they can also accommodate large groups of 14 and more with no problem. Great for big family's. Price: We actually spent about $80 in alcohol ...our choice lol, but the food was definitely cheap, and delicious! I've been to many El Torito restaurant in this location definitely did not disappoint plenty of parking on the huge parking lot. I particularly liked being greeted immediately upon entering and being shown toward table by a smiling hostess that always gets the meal off to a great start. I'm doing a review based on Postmates.The order was prepaid but wasn't put In until I got there.And that was like 10 minutes after I received it because I was in the middle of another delivery.I wish restaurants would realize that we have to deliver so many In A certain amount of time to actually make a decent amount of money.12 deliveries in 4 hours.Which is actually hard.So waiting for 30 min causes us to miss a couple.And it goes from being 8-10.00 for a delivery to 4.00.Also the customer ends up being upset with the driver because of the length of wait instead of the restaurant and doesn't leave a tip which is where we make our money because the 4.00 basically pays gas. read more

It started with the hostess she denied me and my friend the happy hour menu because we weren't sitting by the bar when there are no tables in the available! The servers don't care about you and they're just standing at their station talking to each other and this place is empty!!! The server hasn't been at our table to ask how everything is.
