My husband and I have been a customer of El Torito restaurants (different location) for many many years. We were at the 18512 MacArthur Blvd. location in the later part of the evening. Seeing only one or two patrons, At first, I thought that place was closed considering it was after nine pm, but too soon did I find what may be a reason why the placed seemed vacant. I Ordered my favorite drink, a grilled pineapple margarita, only to be disappointed.. it was so poorly made that I returned it; yet , we were charged for it, service friendly but extremely slow, they were out of chips and salsa, our appetizer left lots to be desired. I'd like to thank my server Ignacio for being so kind with boyfriend and I. It was a stressful night for us dining (due to personal reasons) and he tried to make us as comfortable as possible. It was important to him that we enjoyed our meal. I really appreciate Ignacio's effort in his positive attitude. I've never been an angry or upset diner, but tonight was just off for me (not from the restaurant, but other reasons). I plan on returning again for their happy hour menu offered 3 PM-7PM along with their other dishes that seemed spectacular. Aside from the mood, I found the tacos that came with rice, beans, and corn cake to be delicious! I never had corn cake before and it was pleasantly sweet. I really wanted the platter appetizer, but we soon found that it is a surprisingly large portion within itself. In fact, everything here is large portions so come hungry. I had a craving for some mexican food but also a happy hour environment so I made my way down here. The place has plenty of parking outside and we were seated quickly on a weekday around 5pm. When you walk in it's a little dark, maybe a window or two would help but I didn't go there to eat a window. Our server was very energetic and seemed genuinely happy to be there (whether that's true or not it's much appreciated). FOOD: Ended up ordering the birria tacos (top of photo), sopes (middle), and mini tacos. All of them were $8 or less per item during happy hour which was a steal. Mini tacos had chicken and were delicious. Sopes were interesting and kinda reminded me of a mexican pizza. 7/10 with nice crunch and flavor. Birria tacos were bomb but I made the mistake of eating them last so they were a little soggy by then. The birria was marinated well and was juicy and delicious! My very first bite was full of fat. Had to spit it out. Second bite was not much better. I could not finish it. It was disgusting. The was not at all. My coworkers and I frequent this location and we've always waited a little extra to either be seated or to order and wait for our food to arrive. We usually ignore the fact because it looks like they are short staffed however today was simply ridiculous. We seated ourselves because after 3 gentlemen saw us, none seated us. We waited a while to place our order and after 40 minutes of waiting for our food, we decided to leave because we were going to pass our lunch hour. We had to come back to the office and place an order on Uber Eats. Safe to say this was the last straw and we will not be returning. read more

We came for happy hour on a Friday and it wasn't too busy, but our 2 margarita flights took about 20 minutes and food was another 10 minutes after. Miguel served us or took over serving us and was great, he made sure we were taken care of as the first girl that took our order disappeared, but was helping the other 3 tables on the patio (we were the 4th of 4 tables in their patio). We had all wanted margaritas but no one came back to inquire. After a quick dinner order , with no helpful suggestions, that was the last time we saw our server. Love their breakfast but today was not special. Alejandra was a okay server but was not very attentive, she never even brought us chips & salsa. Requested medium steak & eggs, both eggs and steak were over cooked and my eggs did not have runny yoke. My wife ordered the breakfast combo with sausage but received bacon, after requesting for the exchange the sausage was pink inside and undercooked, pink pork def inedible.
