Food was pretty good. The speed that things came to us was surprising. We didn't even get sit down and they were already asking for our drinks. Chips and salsa standard, but chips were somewhat stale. Food was good, but nothing that would immediately bring me back to this place again. NEVER go to this location. Spent $37 on total crap, left out items on my order and misleading items on the website. Chile Relleno, choose ground beef or shredded chicken. Takeout order was soggy and disappointing. Ordered nachos takeout, they put the chips under the meat and cheese resulting in a wet mess by the time we got it home. This is a Mexican restaurant, they don't know tortilla chips turn soggy when wet? Food was overpriced and not prepared with takeout in mind. Restaurants have been relying on takeout for the last year almost exclusively. This place hasn't figured it out yet. read more

The new location is beautiful. Great atmosphere and a really nice bar. We ordered margaritas and were really disappointed. They are the chalky green mix. The chips are bagged commercial chips and the salsa was very bland. We also wanted to order food but we waited 15 minutes and after having the poor drinks and bland salsa we decided to finish our "drinks" and go somewhere else. read more

Came here for Taco Tuesday and to celebrate a bday and had a great time. This location is a bit smaller then other El Toro's but it's really nice inside. Loved the decor and there's a good sized bar with a bunch of tvs. I wish chorizo was offered as part of taco Tuesday's but their chicken tacos are on point! Big chunks of shredded chicken and the fixings are delicious. I added a side of grilled shrimp and they were grilled perfectly. Service was good as well. This was our first time to this location. It is a beautiful building with great decor inside. The bar area was very nice with booth seating around. The patio was beautiful and some covered. We enjoyed our service and food. The only thing we noticed is the ground beef in the enchiladas tasted different than the other location we normally go to. read more

Won't go back here again! My husband & I visited this location for dinner one evening. The food was just ok & the service was slow. There was hardly any other patrons, but it took quite awhile to get our drinks & food. I had decided to wait & go back before I reviewed them. We went back on a recent Sat night & the place was dead. We sat down at the bar where we planned to order margaritas & have dinner. There were only 2 other women at the bar besides us & the lady bartender who knew the women patrons was talking with them. They were laughing & looking at purses on one of their phones. We sat there for 7 min and the bartender had yet to come over and ask what we wanted to drink because she was too busy chatting with her friends. We left! As we were leaving one of the hostess' said thanks have a good night & we had just walked in 7 min prior and saw her. Again, I want to stress they were not busy at all & based on my experience I now know why! read more

Beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff and quick food. I was very disappointed though when we got home with our take out that the ground beef smelled like fish. We ate about half of it before we realized it was bad and we both had food poisoning from it. I go to the one by the Greene all the time and never had a problem but that is concerning. Attempted to chow-now order El Toro and they confirmed my order, told me around a 20-minute wait, then after I get there and wait AN HOUR AND A HALF they tell me they have decided to cancel my order because they are too busy to accommodate it! In the meantime, they have charged my card and I have now wasted an hour and a half of my life. I won't ever be going back because of their lack of communication and customer service. Also, talk about HIGHLY breaking the 6ft rule. Gosh they were packing people in there and there weren't any rules being followed, Not one employee was wearing a mask, no one had gloves on, and people were not staying 6 feet apart. Hmmm... Super happy with this place. Mexican is not my favorite, but is my boyfriend's fave. So we've gone to pretty much every Mexican restaurant in the greater Dayton area. Shoot, we even went to one as far as Richmond, IN bc he said it was so good. I get the fajitas Every. Single. Time!!! They are no fail, for the most part. However, having had the fajitas twice now at El Toro, these are superior!! The portion, the flavor, the amount of meat. They beat out every other Mexican joint, hands down. My bf agrees, and has loved his food both times, as well! Their rice and beans are actually tasty, and the proper texture/consistency, as well. And the service - they are on their game!! I personally hope he never tries to take me to another Mexican restaurant again...that isn't El Toro ;) read more

Unfortunately, this was one of my favorite spots. However the most recent time I came in, we received terrible service. After waiting 20 minutes for service at least, we asked the nearest waitress to put in drinks. She said no, but she could ask a server. We wait another 10-20 minutes, and a server comes out. He does not apologize for the wait and was quite rude. He did not bring out half the order, and again did not apologize. We put in our food order, and wait. We waited for roughly 30-40 minutes before a table busser asks if we need anything. Keep in mind, in this time frame, every table on the patio has been served, and most have left. Eventually, it got so bad we just paid for our drinks and left. There was no apologies from management, just stated they were busy (however not busy enough to serve every other table on the patio). Unfortunately, I will not be headed back to this spot, and would recommend if you are in the mood for cheerful service you do not either. read more

The food was terrific. What I could have done without was the waitress "Jaia". She seemed friendly but upon further review, apparently she doesn't care for "Boomers" as the folio she carried had a sticker that read "Ok Boomer". It is insulting to go eat somewhere and be served by someone who clearly can't keep their socio-political views to themselves and at the same time pokes fun at the very people that are paying to eat there. Additionally she had an unflattering caricature of our President on the folio as well. Again. When I am a paying customer I wish for people that work at these establishments to keep these opinions to themselves. We go out to eat to escape the BS that we are bombarded with all day long. What's worse is either the management team is oblivious or they're onboard with her views. Either way it isn't the time or the place to make these types of statements.
