Tried their service ; extremely disappointed . As a chain overall I think El Toro is decent, but this particular store leaves much to be desired. The female server was rude and didn't want to be there let alone serve anyone and her disdain for being alive was quite obvious. The restaurant was hot overall, and yes temps have been warm lately but other restaurants aren't skimping on the AC. No patrons want to pay money to eat hot and spicy food in a warm restaurant when it's 90 degrees outside.There's a reason these stores are hit and miss= How they're managed! . All in all 3.5 stars for this chain restaurant. Service was great... It was not very busy when we went (around 5pm on a Saturday). Our waitress was more neutral than friendly, but friendliness isn't something I prioritize at less expensive restaurants like these. The staff appears to be efficient and timely. Our food was received about 20 minutes after ordering. Everything was piping hot and fairly tasty. I ordered the garlic shrimp. My only complaint was that the rice was soaked in the residual butter/oil that the shrimp were cooked in. Was that intentional? I LOVED the huge amount of garlic used, but I'd prefer the cooking oil to be drained and not plated... It was absorbed by my rice and I did not eat it. Nothing stood out to me about this place, but nothing was bad either. It's a place I'd return to every once in a while. read more

Easy access and location. Have the usual TV's on the wall with Sportscenter going on all of them. Took my son in the afternoon and was seated within 3 minutes. Ordered tacos and beef enchilaladas and they were very good. Hot and good size lunch portions. Waiter was excellent, brought lots of chips and extra salsa. Amazed at how quick they get your food out to you. Literally took 5 minutes after we ordered for it to be on our table. Will go back for sure. read more

Came in for lunch to the restaurant my wife and I went too for our first date nearly nine years ago. Extremely disappointed:( Service was awful, my drink, chips and salsa took forever and a day to get re-filled. My food took obscenely too long to come out. Went on for takeout, and the server who took our order was fumbling through the process of using the cash register. She charged me incorrectly, which is no big deal, but she had no idea of how to fix it. She printed me a second copy of the receipt, and claimed it was a refund. It clearly said "reprint" at the top. When I pointed this out, she charged me the correct amount, and gave me cash to make up for the first charge. After waiting over 45 minutes for a carry out order, we discovered that all of the kids' food, with the exception of one cheeseburger, had been omitted from the order. We had to call and explain what was going on to the same server who couldn't figure out the machine in the first place. I don't care if the food turns out to be the best damn Mexican food ever, I'm not coming back. read more

How do you give zero stars? I've been to numerous locations, always enjoyed the food. Service has always been great. Never had a reason to complain until now. My family and I entered the restaurant and stood there a bit longer than we should have before deciding to seat ourselves. About 5 minutes go by before we even see a staff member. I apologized to the waitress for seating ourselves but wasn't certain if we were supposed wait for someone. We order our drinks. The waitress returns fairly quickly with drinks, menus, and those awesome complimentary chips. Good stuff, this lady is on her game... (I'm going to be a bit on the hyper critical side from this point forward.) The cups were old. Not the waitresses fault. But these were the kind of old that had seen some battle damage. The rims were chipped and cracked. All the cups. Asking for new cups would have been useless and borderline petty. The chips were way overdone. But they're free. Not gonna complain. We asked for queso cheese to go with chips after we ordered. "sure, no problem!" We had our drinks, order placed, and queso cheese on the way with minutes of seeing our waitress. After 20 minutes or so of not yet getting the queso, or seeing our waitress, or seeing another employee or another patron...we could see the entrance clearly... Our server appears and asks how everything is. I was a little confused, we hadn't gotten our food yet. "I'm so sorry, it's on its way." Again, I asked if we could have some queso cheese for the chips. "Absolutely. " Another ten minutes of seclusion and our server appears with 3 of 5 plates. Another 5 minutes and the next 2 arrive. Still no fucking queso cheese. So I ask for the 3rd time for some damned queso cheese. "sure, no problem." ....this lady was not on her game. Our waitress promptly brings us a half empty bowl of cooled cheese that had that layer of skin that develops when food sits for too long. The skin didn't even break when my kid tried to dip his chip. My wife is pissed, she was really looking forward to that cheese dip. I'm laughing. My oldest sons order was wrong. He ordered chicken he got either shredded beef or pork. The meat was so dry I couldn't tell what it was. The chicken in my enchilada was far from shredded. Or fresh. Pretty dry. The sour cream made them moist enough to chew followed with some water. My son ate my enchiladas. Kind of. The rice was old. Like it had been cooked a few days prior then reheated and cooled a time or two more and reheated in the microwave one more time before reaching our plates. It was another 20 minutes before any other employee emerged from the kitchen. We asked for our waitress. She showed up, asked if everything was ok. We told her what was wrong with the food. Asked if we could have the items we wouldn't eat taken off the bill. And to have the check. "sure. No problem." that's all she would say. It's not that she didn't speak English. She just wasn't that personable. Or just didn't care. She disappears into the back and again we wait another ten minutes. I asked my wife to get the kids in the car while I waited for her. I see another employee and ask for our waitress. Still no one. I put enough money on the table to cover the 2 meals that were eaten and left. I have no problem tipping. I've spent my adult life working in the food industry. I employee people that depend on their tips. I advocate treating your server with respect. I also believe that server should earn and deserve that tip. I will never blame a server for the food being prepared incorrectly. That's not their fault. But when there is an empty restaurant there's no reason for shitty service. This was by far the worst experience in any restaurant I've ever had. The food, the environment, and the service all of it sucked. To me it's clear the management there simply doesn't care. Attitude reflects leadership. The attitude at this restaurant was more than lacking. If you want a place with shitty food, shitty service, and could leave without paying. Probably get behind the bar without being noticed too. This is the place for you. Taco Bell at 3Am has better food. read more

Stopped by on Tuesday the 8 of August. Had the Taco-Tuesday special for a 1.00 a piece. Wouldn't be bad if the Server also served more than just one drink with the meal!! Had to ask the other waitress for our drinks. My guest went to use the ladies room only to find out that it was flooded, from the toilet overflow!! I had a horrible experience at the El Toro in Huber. I love their food so I decided to try a different location. I am glad I did. This location is 1000xs better than Huber. Food is excellent. Service was excellent. Not one server was on their phone. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Food was perfect and delicious. I wish I could tell the owners of el Toro that they need to retrain the staff of the Huber location by the staff of this location! I've said it before no matter how good the food is if the service sucks it's not worth it!!! The Harshman Road El Toro gets my recommendation. The service is excellent and the food is excellent. After moving to the area and looking for a place that served good Mexican food, not tex mex, I was very happy to find El Toro. There is one particular waitress who will go above and beyond to make your dinner enjoyable. The food is all great, avoid the combination menu and get the good stuff. I highly recommend the Beans with chorizo appetizer. You won't be disappointed there. Their chicken is always tasty and rarely dry. Steak is tender, sauces are all great and the Salsa is one of the best arouns. Dan Pablo, Abuelos and Rancho Grande have got nothing on El Toro. read more

6-12 months ago I said I would never come back because of the poor service and lack of Management. I came back about 3 months to give it another try and it has changed 180. Today I came in and had great service and saw the manager go above and beyond to help a costumer that had trouble walking and even walked him to his car. That has made this a very pleasant visit and I will definitely come back to this place now. read more

Just got back from lunch at this restaurant. There was only one other gentleman in the restaurant when we came in. We ordered our food at 11:10 and after seeing several people that came in after us get their food and we hadn't received ours, I asked the waitress about our order and she said "I asked about your food, but they misplaced the order in the kitchen" . Still, 20 minutes later, we got our food. The waitress said as she gave us our food, "we are giving 10% off your bill".... I am not out for a free meal, but it seems that a table with employees out for lunch and having to go way past their lunch hour, should have been handled differently. I called the restaurant when I got back and spoke with someone who said he was the manager. After being called "man" a couple of times, I told him I would be writing a review on social media and none of us would be back to the restaurant. I hate spending my money where they don't care if we are there or not! I am going to be getting hold of the corporate office and letting them know how this stores manager handles issues with customers. read more

I do not want to waste more of my time on this place by writing this review but it is necessary. First off it was Cinco de Mayo, so some slack is given. It was full with a wait of 20 minutes. We said we would wait at the bar. While at the bar we found there is no one who can make any type of Margarita. It was all batched with Jose Cuervo as the tequila - "We will add strawberry flavoring if you want a strawberry marg". We got draft beers. Pathetic. After no table for about 45 mins, we checked back and they had forgotten us. 15 more mins and we got the table. From here on out it just got worse. Horrible service, in all ways, the entire time. The food was the most awful version of Mexican I have EVER experienced. The plates were smothered in iceburg lettuce, topped with a glob of sour cream with an anemic tomato slice stuck in the middle. After digging through to find our food, we found everything to be of the most minimum quality with a lot of process and/or canned items. The ground beef which was in and on everything was like thick Skyline chili. Very fine texture and greasy. Whether it was an enchilada, taco, chili rolleno or burrito - everything flat out sucked!!! I am not going to describe every suckie thing, it all sucked. We asked to at least have two of the really slimy plates taken off the bill, but they would not do that. I rarely tip zero, but this place ranked that kind of response. Do not ever go here!! As well, by the looks of all the clientele I can see why there are fairly good ratings for this place. If you don't care about yourself; this appears to be good food and finer dining to you. May I add - the most authentic Mexican food BY FAR in Dayton is served at the cafe inside the Michoacana Market on Troy. Burritos are gigantic and prices very reasonable. And you can pull any Mexican or American beer out of the cooler. If you like pork rinds, their deli has the real deal, homemade. read more

we went to the el Toro on Miamisburg/Centerville rd. last night, which is always fantastic. we ordered the combination plates #20and #29...with shredded chicken./..that's what we got.....tacos and burritos and enchiladas with dry, unseasoned, plain chicken. No onions,or tomato salsa mixed with it. just dry hunks of shredded chicken, not to our same expecttions. read more
