Ordered online and it was a 30 minute wait. It was fine since I was stuck in traffic anyways so it took an hour anyways. Took me 2 hrs after my order to get my food. Found out they ran out of chicken ‍ The counter person was on her phone the entire time and not checking online order tickets or food as it was coming out from the kitchen. She was being rude on top of it all. Sounds like they were messing up people's orders as I heard another customer put on speaker with the same girl at the front. She didn't check customer receipts for some people ahead so I'm assuming she messed up the orders. Luckily the food is solid and I'm supporting this business since they lost their one of the owners to tragic and unfortunate circumstances. Solid food! I've ordered delivery from them twice and my food arrived fresh and hot. The first time I got the 1 fish/3 wings/1 side combo with potato salad. The wings were perfection. I wish I could remember which spice level I got bc they were SO good. The fish was well seasoned and the potato salad was very good. I tasted my friends' baked beans - they were tasty as well. However, I did order an extra side of Mac n Cheese and that was hot and good. Lastly, the order comes with pickles, onions, and mustard and if you don't ask her for it they won't include it in your meal even though the menu says it's included. Freezing cold means it's a good, no, a great night for some hot chicken. Fairly close to the freeway and easy to find, I put my order in only to find out that most people call their orders in because the chicken is cooked to order. So, I ended up cooling my heels for about 30 minutes because a few other customers had called in some fairly large orders. The chicken was very good, but I think it was the hot sauce that elevated the meal. The catfish also had the sauce on it, and it was hot yet so flavorful I couldn't help but lick my fingers a time (or more). Drove past this place way too many times!!! She had the 2pc fish sandwich and I had the 3pc fish with medium spice. I walked out onto the deck and she said crack that box open, that sandwich is money! I have to agree! The fish was still really hot after the drive home. It was perfectly cooked. We also got a 12pc chicken tender with medium fixins. It was great! The chicken was also still hot and moist when we got home. Tried ranch and ketchup with it and both worked out great, but I cannot help but to think about what some white gravy would taste like with them also... She said we might have found our new go to. So after many times of venturing here with nothing but good things to say about this place it finally done bad by me :( I came here on Sunday like so many times before and ordered 2 lemon pepper combos that included fries and drink. So, Hot Stuff is a pretty good name for this place. Good thing they don't have 'fast' in their name. The food came out VERY slow. How slow? My order went in around 2:20pm today and the order was ready at 3pm. They say 20-25 minutes - but it was easy twice that amount of time. So, even if you plan on eating there - order ahead! The only thing they do different if you are ordering in or to go is put the boxes they serve the food in into a bag. However, part of the problem may have been my friend ordered the Wings which, I know, tend to take longer. I ordered the 3 Chicken Tender meal with fries. It comes out like most hot chicken does - bright red tenders on top of white bread with some pickle slices. I ordered mine with some ranch on the side. I have to say - this chicken was very, very good. You could tell the Chicken was fresh and, of course, since they make every order when you order it - it was piping hot when our number was called. The sweet fruit tea was VERY sweet. The fries were average. Seemed like any grocery store type fries - so, nothing really special. But, you aren't going here for the fries or the tea - you are going for the Hot Chicken - and I have to say - it was pretty damn good. I love spicy chicken and whenever I get chicken - I always opt for spicy if available. This has to be some of the better hot chicken I have had. However, I haven't eaten at Prince's before - mostly because I attempted to go there once and it was packed and the place looked filthy. I always call ahead with my order and they will typically tell me about 30 minutes till its ready. It is consistently much longer than that. I dont mind waiting for food to be made fresh, but if its going to be an hour, tell me it will be an hour so I can plan accordingly. Holy hotness! I was in the mood for something spicy so my boyfriend and I stopped by here completely on a whim. The first thing I noticed was the sign in the window that urged customers to call ahead. I'm a BIG fan of signage! This was obviously a hint that it may take them a while to cook my order. (I'm ok with quality food taking longer to cook) Honestly, I would much rather read a posted sign and make a decision based on the sign, than stand around like an idiot wondering where my food is or why it's taking so long. Normally, when spicy food reaches a certain hotness, you can no longer taste anything (except pain.) These tenders were perfect! The seasonings were SO delicious! There was a gentleman that came from the kitchen to ask us how everything tasted and he mentioned that they just recently adjusted their recipe. So, for anyone that may have not been impressed with this place before, it might be worth another trip. In my opinion, yes I had tears running down my face, but I could still taste those awesome seasonings. THAT is great hot chicken! My boyfriend and I will definitely be returning for more! In the spirit of Nashville's own culinary masterpiece, Hot Chicken, this place is hot stuff when it comes to the spice that is just so right. Step inside and approach the counter and you will find a friendly Order Taker ready to answer questions and lead you to making a choice from the menu that suits your wants and taste buds. Once you order, help yourself to soft-drinks or wait for the Order Taker to get you some "tea" or "lemonaid." My personal preference for Hot Chicken is mild or medium. I like to have the flavor of the pepper without numbing my mouth and/or face. Hot Stuff delivers, in about 20 minutes, a fresh, juicy breast and wing, my second favorite hot bird in town (Bolton's still has 1st place). The breading is light, leaving the skin crispy, and tasting great. The bird is, of course, dipped in the spicy covering and resting on a couple of slices of white bread with pickles placed on top. Goodness gracious this is good stuff. I've tried the wings and boneless offerings...but the breast quarter is the best in terms of flavor, juiciness, and skin! I like their store made cole slaw (cream/mayo based) to temper the spice of the bird and found their fries to be good enough. The potato salad is trucked in. Sides do matter, but the Hot Chick is the main player and captures 98% of my attention. And then there is the The Fruit Tea. This concoction of comprised of what I believe to be tea flavored powder and heavy dose of fruit flavors (probably from another powder) and sweetened to the point that it's syrup. Shew! It's good in a way that reminds me of my impoverished upbringing when orange juice was really Tang or fruit punch was Kool-Aid and Grape Juice was poured from a Grapico bottle. WARNING: the sugar high is big and so is the crash. If you don't have time for a 20 minute power nap, don't drink the Kool-Aid...tea. The ambience of the place is lame. The few Formica booths are resistent to providing any comfort and the florescent lighting is void of any flattery for skin tones. The competing stereo-symphonic internet radio speakers and TV set to Jerry Springer type shows about drives my ADHD mind crazy. It's a tough 20 minute wait, especially when I am trying to eaves-drop on all the latest Antioch crime beat update. Do I care? Not really, it's all about the Hot Chick...and it's worth the discomfort and distractions. Although Bolton's is the best, Hot Stuff is really great.
