I have always been curious about this restaurant and finally had the chance to try it. This place feels very homey like mom & pop shop. The service could be better but you can tell everyone is working hard and nonstop. Though there is not much seating, all Indoor tables and seats were filled during Sunday lunch hours. The mixed meats rice platter was great. Everything was seasoned well. The chicken breast was not dry. The steak was a little tough to cut but still tender to eat. The pork was a little dry. It comes with rice and salad on the side. It was a great combination. The empanada made with plantains was very interesting and worth trying. The exterior is fried plantain and the inside white filling is like a coconut cream custard. It is not too sweet. A great dessert or appetizer to try. Support local businesses and come try this place at least once!

I may not be El Salvadoran but man I love my papusas!!! And this place is legit! The masa isn't too dry or too wet and the filings are so flavorful! Ordered one of each since you can't beat the $2 and change price for one to not order one of each to try. Also their tamales were spot on. The sweet corn tamale has a good balance of sweet and savory. Horchata was refreshing but their tres leches cake needs some help, it was dry and tasted a bit fridge burned. Staff is super friendly. My lunch date spoke Spanish but the waitress didn't speak much English but was still very accommodating with a lot of pointing, head nodding and giggling. The Manager came over to see how we were doing and thankfully he spoke English so you have options people! Don't let a little thing like language barrier keep you away from fantastic food!

This place is amazing! I got the breaded chicken lunch special (Pechuga empanizada) and Mixtas Pupusas (with chicharron, cheese, beans, and loroco) and both were incredibly delicious. Prices were excellent, ~$15 for all of that, with soda and sides of beans and extra pupusa included. Will definitely be returning here again!

Decided to check this Salvadorian eatery today. As soon as we walked in, there was a strong scent of pork in the air? Suddenly, i was salivating without even looking at the menu. As a Native Salvadorian, i am also a pupusa connosour. When i was ordering, i requested chicharron pupusas and i was immediately told they do not make them. Well im my book, that's - 1 star out of 5. So i had to settle for pupusas revueltas. While we waited, i had an orchata which turned out to be very sweet which is a shame. ($3 wasted) so it took 15 minutes to wait for 2 cheese pupusas and 2 revueltas. While waiting the waitress set us up with a plate of fresh made tortilla chips and salsa. Overall the place was very clean, no loud music, but service was slow. Prices were on the up, pupusas start at $2 and other types of pupusas are $2.25. The curtido was very tasty. There was a good mix of curtido options, a regular curtido and the other with purple cabbage and jalapenos which had a nice kick. 2 kinds of sauces, while the cheese pupusa was very cheese and oozing with a great mixture of cheese. The pupusa revuelta (half pork & half cheese) left me with one though in mind; Where is the PORK? I am telling you, there was no PORK there. So it was dissapointing. While they get a star for clean ambiance, a great cheese pupusa, i am highly dissapointed that they do not make chicharron pupusas. While i admit i am not a lover of the cheese pupusa, this place has changed my mind. However, i still want to try the rest of the menu.

El Salvadorian comfort food spot in queens. Food was pretty good. Anything on their menu is a good choice. The pork skin with plantains was good. Only thing is that their service was poor. They didn't give us water until we asked and it was hard to get their attention.

We've frequented this location a few times since the pandemic and overall had good experiences with takeout. We typically ordered the Combo #3 because the kids like the salchipapas but this time we decided to try the lunch specials. We ordered 2 lunch specials (Roasted Chicken and Beef Stew) and a Weekend Special (Stuffed Bread) sandwich. The lunch specials come with Rice, Soup and Beans / Salad. I had asked for beans and both came with salad which made me sad because I really like their beans. Calling in my order, they said 25 minutes and it ended up being about 30 minutes but everything was very fresh. The beef stew was a bit tougher than I would have liked. The sandwich had shredded chicken and was really wet. By the time I got home (less then 10 minute drive), the entire bottom half of the bread was completely soggy. It still tasted good but next time I'll ask if they can remove some of the liquid before adding the meat. Total came out to $27 cash. If using credit card, they charge a 2% convenience fee. They had an area out front for dine in that was busy when I picked up my food.

First ! Found this Restuarant on Yelp. Wouldn't be able to find it with out Yelp. Me and the man were in the mood for amazing food. The waiter was so nice she accommodated everything to our needs. Which was great ! Also the food is banging !!! You will not be disappointed. Will be back soon for maybe a 2nd or 3rd time and bring some friends

The food was really bad, as a Spanish person myself I can say this is NOT ethnic food. Even the rice tasted like it was boxed rice. The pupusas were decent but I have had better. The place is really small but the prices are fair. The food turned me off though, never again. read more

This Salvadoran option provides a nice respite to the predominantly Korean restaurants on 162nd street. My take-out order of 6 papusas, tripe soup, their most popular steak entree, shrimp scampi, and enchiladas comfortably fed a family of 5. Tasty homestyle dishes that delivered the right amount of seasoning and well packaged for the drive. A ton of choices and large portions. Extremely cheap. My girlfriend and I each got a full meal, a glass of horchata, and dessert and paid $20 including tip. Highly inconsistent. I ordered the same thing twice and the first time it was burnt, the second time they mixed up our order and it tastes completely different (worse than the first time). Also we had to wait extra long to pick up the food because they told us 10 extra minutes. I guess they used the extra time to burn our food. Also they are extremely slow if you order on seamless! read more

This was a delivery order...I had a Sopa de Mondogo and two pupusas. As a Salvadoran myself my perspective is a bit biased. The soup was deplorable, the price is a steal. But the soup itself was nasty. It tasted really old and I honestly felt like I was taking shots of pig oil. It had two big slices of cabbage and yucca that was barely cooked and NO vegetables. I do not reccomend this soup. The pupusas made up for the soup, they were good. Just good. read more

Upon walking in, I was greeted immediately. I wanted take out and the staff was very friendly and helpful in deciding what to order. I got tamales, pupusas and tripe soup. All of it was very good, large portions and definitely worth the cost. The only downside to what I got was the rice, which was bland and a little over cooked. Overall, I will definitely be coming back to this place and trying more things from their menu. read more

Recently found out that this place delivers so I ordered a bunch of papusas and plantain empanadas. First, the papusas were delicious! I can eat them all day, everyday for the rest of my life. They were hot, moist and slightly crisp. This was my first time trying plantain empanadas and now I always have to order them with my meal. The delivery is always fast and the delivery man is a great friendly guy. Love this place! read more

The restuarant has a very nice home like feel so the i would imagine my mom cooking food, ans who could beat a mothers cooking right? this is the second time i came here. very welcoming. since i dont know much about the dish, the gentlemen offered me many varietys of sauces that came with my order which is the plantains. im very satisfied. read more

Tasty dishes.. I ordered the carne asada which came with steak, guacamole, queso, rice with beans. Portion was smaller than expected (see photo posted by another Yelper) but the taste and freshness was exceptional. The lunch special is now $9.50 (was $8.50) but they have not updated their menus or advertising for the new price. read more

I'm not very much of a storyteller in writing a review. There will not be a 3 or 4 paragraph descriptive, with that being said lets get to it. Delicious. Absolutely delicious. Ordered through Grubhub, our food was delivered exactly within the timeframe we were given. Our food was packed plentifully and properly. Nothing was spilling, lopsided, nor cracking. Salvadorean food, is quite tasty and comforting. Will reorder from Grubhub again, and definitely will visit when in the neighborhood. read more

After reading all these 5 star Yelp reviews, I decided to run down to El Vincentino to give it a try. I had a major hankering for authentic tamales, and I was really looking forward to eating their food. When I walked in, the counter girl was barely alive ... not totally inattentive, but not really welcoming a customer either She took my order with a grunt and without much acknowledgement. Ok. Not a good start. I ordered the Carne Deshilada as other posters had suggested as well as two tamales ... $15.51. Not quite the bargain I was expecting. I took the order to go, and was still looking forward to eating a good meal when I got home. Let's just say I was quite underwhelmed. I was expecting a container overflowing with great food, when instead, it was barely half filled. The food wasn't terrible, but not quite the delicious plata everyone on Yelp was hollering about. The carne was ok, and the rice didn't stand out from any other Latin food place. The tamales were runny and soggy, and left a qweezy feeling in my stomach. Maybe if the place really was the inexpensive value that Yelp suggests, I wouldn't complain so much. But the price didn't match the perceived value. There are many Latin places in Queens and the Bronx which offer more food, better taste, and for half the price of El Vincentino. Good luck to them. I gave it a try, and won't be coming back. read more

Sauce bar is $2 a person - which might be shocking for some to know they charge it, but it's pretty much the norm at a higher end hot pot place in big cities.
