It's right at the corner of Las olas Blvd. and A1A. it's where the movie where the boys are was made they have live bands every day there and it's definitely a dive bar, but it's a hotspot for all the spring breakers and all the locals in town. So we are in the area for Bills Mafia take over weekend. The Buffalo Bills are playing the Miami Dolphins. Anyways, my girlfriend and I came to the opening party at the Elbo Room. I had never been here, had heard a lot about it. The place was packed early. Bills Mafia everywhere. Music downstairs and upstairs. The place was slammed. Good vibes, good drinks. People talking and enjoying themselves. As the night went on it got more crowded. We were up in the balcony enjoying the scene when a bouncer came up and yelled at my girlfriend for throwing something over the edge. Which of course she didn't. He pointed his finger right in her face and threatened to kick out. He was down right rude and mean to her in front of everyone. He yelled about stools being on the balcony. They were already there because we sat down in them when someone left. This bouncer had a downright shitty and horrible attitude and didn't need to attack her the way he did. I told him he was being an asshole about the whole thing. He said what did you say in a demeaning tone. I said why you being an asshole. He then threatened to call the cops on me, as if being called an asshole is a crime. He then decided to kick me out for calling him an asshole. This kid was on an uncalled power trip and shouldn't be in that job. We were enjoying the night and did nothing but have fun. He came over and caused an unnecessary scene. We left and went elsewhere to enjoy the rest of our night. Wasn't going to let that "asshole" ruin our fun. Do better Elbo Room. This place brings such Nostalgia back to me. I used to come here pretty often with an ex boyfriend and our friends. We always had fun here. It had been around since the 1960's or so. So much history that you can feel it when you walk in. I came here with a friend who lives out of state a little while back. We got drinks. They were weak. The quality of the juice was not great. They ID everyone who walks in which is ok. The music wasn't my vibe. They also let it get very crowded. So we left. I have some great memories of this place. A great beach vibe with no frills. One negative is the cash only policy but I mean it is a dive so it works. This has been on my list for long time to visit and glad I did. Hi there, I was a costumer yesterday Thursday 25 of December 2025 at your prestigious bar which has an internal reputation for couple of drinks and there was a female black haired bartender at the ground floor so greedy asking vehemently for non deserved tips. She told me I have to tip her because she has a family. I gave you her some and she kept asking in impolite way. I went upstairs and the service was smooth with Cassandra who is very professional. I tipped because of her nice attitude and high morals. When I went downstairs again standing to listen to music she asked white bouncer (Black haired) to kick me out without checking out if I have done any whatsoever trouble or wrong attitude. The other bouncers have seen all what happens and they told me they are gonna report to the Manager. Noon on a Monday and we were kicked out by the male bartender at the first floor bar because we were asking for waters and not ordering drinks. I advised him she was pregnant and I was sober, which he responded: you need to pay for the waters or order a drink, otherwise since we are at capacity you need to leave. The bar was dead. This is one of my new favorite bars ever. Yes, it's cash only, yes, it gets crowded, but the service was great, it was safe, the music was amazing and you cannot beat the location. The drinks are very reasonably priced and between the upstairs and downstairs there's no shortage of great tables and views. I will be going here every time I get to come out to Fr. Lauderdale. I loved this little dive bar! The twinkle lights & outdoor seating set a nice atmosphere, and the bouncer immediately set the vibe for a fun night with his jokes & banter. Bar service was quick, and the spot wasn't too crowded. They had locally brewed beer on tap which was an unfiltered wheat that I really enjoyed. Lauderdale spring break history and it holds a special place in many peoples hearts. . Originally built for a snack shop called Kaufman's, the Elbo room opened in 1938 and was popular with the WWII soldiers training in the area. The bar was rebuilt in 1956 and it featured in the seminal 1960 Ft. Lauderdale spring break movie, Where the Boys Are. After the movie came out, 5.000 students descended on Ft. Lauderdale for spring break. Connie Francis who lives in Parkland has been known to stop by on special occasions to sign autographs. In 1981 the historic business was purchased by Jack Penrod. While you can order food in most places that have a bar these days, the Elbo room keeps it old school with strictly alcohol. They have live music on the first floor and stellar views of the ocean on the second. On most days you can see the tourists sipping a drink while staring out at the ocean. You probably want a good buzz on before attempting to use the disgusting bathrooms. Aside from the restrooms I wouldn't change a thing. They really suffered from being closed during Covid so come out and support the oldest bar on the beach. You haven't experienced Ft. A first stop for my daughter and her friends while on Spring Break their Senior year. Very disheartening experience. My daughter was attacked by a dog while in this establishment in Spring 2025. The owners allowed the dog on site though signs are posted not allowing them. As a result of her injuries she required hospitalization and rabies treatments. The owners of the bar have been negligent in taking responsibility for this incident. read more

My gf and I were headed to a restaurant for early dinner but the restaurant looked dead so we decided to wait somewhere else in the meantime. We had passed by the Elbow Room and it was packed. We managed to find two seats by one of two bars. We were relatively close to the stage. DECOR/ AMBIANCE: Ugly as heck lol. It's a dive bar and it had that type of look and feel. My friend and I were wearing wedges and cute dresses and we stood out lol. It is a chill place, open to the outdoors. I think the only doors they had to the place was to the bathrooms lol. Place looks old and there's people from all ages there (21+). Everyone was at one of two bars drinking and talking. The band playing was fantastic and the singer was lively. There was a bridal party dancing in the center and I was dancing on my chair (this is how good the music was). SERVICE: The bartenders were so nice. There was one man that was in front of my gf and I and I called to him to order a drink . He wasn't even working at the time and he helped me out and was nice about it. He even offered my gf a cup of water since she didn't ordered anything. When he left a beautiful and super nice bartender took care of us and same thing... attentive and brought my friend water with ice even though she said she was good (I guess she looked parched lol). I don't drink alcohol so I tried a non-alcoholic beer. I was super surprised to see that they carried Stella Artois 0% alcoholic beer. It was good but expensive in my opinion. One bottle was $7.50. That's the problem with being right on the beach.. everything is super expensive. In conclusion, the music was great and so was the service. We had a very good time. We ended up liking it more than the restaurant we had originally planned on going to. I'll be returning with my husband and other friends. read more
