I ended up making an OpenTable reservation at YOLO while waiting for someone to land at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and the location couldn't have been more convenient. It's just a short drive from the airport, and there are several parking garages nearby. I reserved parking ahead of time through ParkWhiz, which saved me a little money and made everything hassle-free. I had a 4:00 p.m. reservation but arrived a little early, which worked out perfectly because happy hour was still going on. Instead of waiting for my table, I grabbed a seat at the bar--and as an espresso martini girl, I was pleasantly surprised to find they were only $5 during happy hour instead of the regular $16. That alone made it worth arriving early. The happy hour food special was also a great value: pick any three items from the menu for $23. We ordered the coconut shrimp, which came with three large, flavorful shrimp; the spicy salmon cannolis, which were like crispy fried sushi cannolis topped with a creamy avocado spread (two per order); and the Szechuan calamari. The calamari was a generous portion with great flavor, although it came with quite a bit of sauce. If you eat it right away while it's still crispy, it's excellent, but it can get a little soggy if it sits too long. The atmosphere was trendy and comfortable. It was nice and cool inside initially, although once they opened the bar windows it warmed up enough to become a little uncomfortable. Still, the service was good, the food was flavorful, and the happy hour pricing was one of the best values I've found in the area. The only thing I'd love to see is a military discount, as they don't currently offer one. Overall, I'd definitely come back--especially if I'm looking for a great happy hour or need a convenient place to eat before picking someone up from the Fort Lauderdale airport. read more

My first time dining at YOLO. I tagged along to my fiancée's bunch reservation with her friends and the experience was nicer than what I expected. They have nicely decorated interior and covered patios, as well as outdoor seating. We had a reservation for seven people at 11:30am. The hostess informed us that we can't be seated until at least 6 of the 7 people arrive. Even though the restaurant was very empty, we waited out of respect to the company's policy. After half an hour wait time, the shift manager(?) came out and said she can seat our party but this would be a one time accommodation. After being led out onto the patio, our server came to take our drink orders, appetizers, and entrees. He was professional and efficient, just didn't seem too friendly. (He did bring out a birthday dessert for us so maybe he was just shy to smile and seem happy). The food was better than what I have imagined. For starters we ordered Margherita flat bread and Szechuan calamari, and I highly recommend both to everyone to try at least once. For entrees everyone got different ones, but for me, I ordered the YOLO Churrasco with two sides. My friend ordered the truffle mac and cheese and let me tell you, the flavor is strong on the truffle side but it's one of the better truffle mac and cheese I have tasted in a long time. Props to the YOLO chefs. If this is what girls do when they go out for girls date for brunch, us men have been missing out on life. The bartender told me this was her favorite item on the menu after I ordered it, and it did not disappoint. I would come back here daily for this steak salad if I moved back to Fort Lauderdale. I came here for the first time for an event with my amazing peers from "Black in HR". I appreciated that they had valet parking for one. As I do not like to struggle looking for parking just to visit a good place. The ambiance of the restaurant was awesome. We also had great service, which accommodating Ed when it started to rain and we needed to move under the roof area. The food was delicious as well. My favorite was the steak and asparagus. I also loved my drink, "Our Little Secret". It was a sweet drink with a spicy kick to it. This place has good music and gets lit. We ordered the calamari, which was ok. It was more crisps than anything else and not very flavorful without the sauce. I tried the Greek Salad, which was okay. We went to YOLO for Happy Hour around 4:30pm on a Friday and were very happy to get seats at the bar. The server immediately gave us menus and service was quick and attentive all throughout. It is definitely a non-traditional take, but well executed and flavorful, and I enjoyed it thoroughly once I adjusted my expectations. I also ordered a cocktail (unfortunately I cannot recall the exact name, but it was something along the lines of a "Caribbean...") and it was excellent. Last Thursday, Five of us had dinner at Yolo It's our first visit since they remodeled. The service was ok. Our issue was with the food 3 of us ordered spicy rigatoni with lobster. The lever of spicy was ridiculous. I assumed there was lobster mixed in, but there was no way I could taste it. The only thing I was able to taste was the spice. We had calamari which was excellent with a touch of spice. One flatbread was excellent I look forward to their favorite bread pudding, which is no longer on the menu. We did have a delicious chocolate cake. We left our car with valet. When we left the restaurant it took 40 minutes to get our car back. The valet had no system, just a bunch of people hanging around the valet stand, trying to get their car. There was no first come first serve. I saw people cutting in front of other people the whole 40 minutes we were standing there. The valet issue is enough for us not to return couple of that with the spice level of the food. This was my second time visiting YOLO. The first time I came was for a girls' brunch on a Sunday, where we enjoyed the bottomless mimosas. I remember having the fried shrimp, which was served with guacamole, and I really enjoyed it. We sat on the patio, which was nicely shaded and had fans to keep us cool. Yesterday we went for happy hour and also sat on the patio. Although it was pretty hot outside, the shade and fans kept it comfortable. They have a happy hour menu from 4:30 to 6:30 PM with some really good options. We started with the spicy tuna roll, which comes with four pieces, and the seafood ceviche. The ceviche was served with white fish and shrimp, and I really enjoyed the sauce it came with as well as the crispy taro chips. We also ordered the Hamachi Crudo and the tuna tartare. I definitely recommend the tuna tartare. It tasted so fresh I could have eaten a whole other plate. It usually comes with rice cake chips, but I swapped them for taro chips. We didn't indulge in any cocktails this time, but their happy hour cocktail menu is great, with drinks starting at only eight dollars. I was surprised the location wasn't busier during happy hour because they really do have excellent options. The crispy shrimp I had on my first visit is also available during happy hour, which I would have loved to try again, but we were already very full. There is street parking or valet, though I'm not sure of the price. The restaurant is toward the end of Las Olas, tucked in a corner, so there is some street traffic noise, but it didn't bother us. Our service was good; our server was attentive, kept the table clean, and refilled drinks promptly. All of the food was pretty tasty here and the outdoor patio was such a vibe!! This is such a busy place so make sure to make a reservation, especially for big groups. Even with our reservation, we had to wait around 30-40 minutes for our table to be ready. The only other negative I have is that they were constantly bringing stuff to our table that we didn't order & getting annoyed when we said it wasn't ours. I made sure it wasn't on the bill at the end because it happened so many times, it seemed intentional. Now for more positives-- the yolo cosmo was the perfect cocktail I loved it so much!! The food is delicious. I can't get the taste of their Szechuan Calamari out of my head. They also serve several dishes with black truffle which is my favorite. This restaurant is a popular for business meetings as well as a date spot or to celebrate a birthday or another special occasion. It's also a good place to meet a sugar daddy, if that's what you're into. They have valet parking. The restaurant has an upscale modern vibe with lots of outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating as well. For happy hour you have to sit outside, that was fine with us since we wanted to sit outside. The server was nice and knowledgeable and helped us make decisions on what to get. For drinks I got an Old Fashioned and my wife got a Lychee martini, my drink was good but here's was awesome!! For food we got couple of sushi rolls, a flatbread, and ceviche. The ceviche was amazing!! The flatbread was delicious but bigger and heavier than we were expecting. The sushi was very fresh and flavorful. Came here for one of my best friends birthday after never coming before. She had made a reservation for 16 and they sat us a long table right next to the bar that was only set for 14 people. We told the hostess that it was 16 and not 14 and there was a lot of back and forth about it. We ultimately had to squish someone on the booths and then the manager brought over a chair for the other end of the table that my fiance sat on but the chair was much higher than the other chairs so he looked down on the table and his back hurt from it. The drinks were good, I think everyone enjoyed theirs. The food was okay. I liked the calamari and the flatbread a lot. I thought the meatballs were a little plain. My best friend (the bday girl) ordered the allá vodka pasta and she thought it was bland with no flavor and then wound up finding a chicken bone in it. She sent it back and asked for the lobster rigatoni instead but it was taking so long and most people were done eating that she just wound up getting it to go. The place was very loud and the bar was SO crowded that people were literally standing over our table while we ate or bumping into us. It wasn't a great idea to have such a large party right next to the bar. I had not been to YOLO in quite some time and I realized how much I missed it. The food was very good. The reservation system is a little of putting when there is not a human to speak to, just Ai. When we showed up, we were given a choice to sit inside or on the driveway patio. We had a nice booth inside near the bar and the noise level at lunch was not too loud. Our server seemed to be a little new and had a few minor slip ups but did well. All our food was delivered corre tly just not all at one time. The lunch special menu is perfect for a lunch with many great options. I started with the Dragon sushi roll which had 4 pieces served cold and fresh. The Mediterranean Bowl was a nice portion of peppers, tomatoes, red onion and marinated chick peas surrounding fresh greens in a big bowl. My husband had the Grilled Snapper Sandwich with a choice of side. The French fries were hand cut and perfectly cooked. A little crispy and well seasoned. The ambiance inside was a little dark like a bistro but pretty and the bar area is both inside and outside. Totally surprised by the quality of the food here, totally unexpected. Everything we ordered was really good. We came in for an early dinner before a show at Broward Center. Had the meatballs - delicious, but it was a big portion for just two people (three giant meatballs). Pizza was good, but the star of the show was the salmon. I couldn't tell if it was roasted or baked, but damn, that was the best salmon I've ever had, I don't know how they made it thoroughly cooked (which is the way I like it), but not at all dried out. If I could only figure out how to cook salmon like that at home, I'd be happy. Service was friendly. There's a self-park garage around the corner if you don't want to valet. Incredible experience and meal at YOLO. This was my second time here, as I haven't been in years (I live in IL) and I was thoroughly impressed. The food is fantastic and cooked to perfection. The octopus appetizer is the best octopus I have ever had. Tuna tartare is also another one of our favorites. The service was amazing, even on a busy Thursday night. This is a cute date spot! I went here with my date for her birthday. The ambiance, the service, food presentation, and the overall flavor gives YOLO a 4 star! We got there at the tail end of happy hour and ended up ordering a bunch of different items. Majority were on the HH menu. Items included : spicy salmon cannoli, dragon sushi, coconut shrimp, short rib slider, hamachi app, and octopus. My favorite was the short rib slider and the hamachi app! The hamachi was served like a parfait and had this citrus ice on top. It was really interesting- but a fun experience. The short rib slider was very flavorful and had a good meat to bread ratio. The coconut shrimp and octopus had the best presentations. Both came out as a "show". These were fun to get for that reason alone. Mt least favorite was the salmon cannoli. It was too bland. The drinks were good too. Would definitely come back so I can try some of the other menu options! But it will be tough to beat the happy hour deals. read more
