Professional and reasonable electrical work at prices you can afford. Really nice guy, too - a pleasure to work with.

The challenge: the line had to penetrate a shear wall into the garage -- already packed with HVAC, gas lines, and existing electrical -- and then find its way to the laundry room in the center of the house. We fully expected to be patching sheetrock on at least one wall when it was all over. Ed Electric surprised us completely. Not only did they identify a far simpler and smarter route into the house that we never would have thought of, but they ran the line in a way that is completely hidden yet fully accessible -- and not a single piece of sheetrock was touched. The finished result looks clean and professional, as if it had always been there. Their quote was fair, and they showed up to start the work the very next day. No waiting around, no runaround. What truly made the experience stand out was the owner taking time after the job to have a genuine conversation with me about how someone I know might pursue a career as a licensed electrician, and the state of the profession in the Bay Area. That kind of generosity -- going beyond the job to be helpful as a person -- is something you don't forget. Ed Electric is exactly the kind of local contractor San Rafael is lucky to have. Highly, highly recommended.

There is always something that needs to be done when you own your home. For me it was these light…read moresensors in my bathrooms. They have a mind of their own. It is supposed to turn the lights on and off when it senses you walk in and out. The universe had other plans. It tuned on and off when the wind blew, when I sneezed, when the dog barked. It didn't turn on when I went into the dark bathroom at night. It liked to turn off when I was in the shower ...at night. I couldn't stand it anymore. I was afraid it would be expensive. I faced that fear because I just couldn't take it. I used a yelps handy dandy helper for someone to come. Someone licensed and professional. Out of the replies this one stood out so I scheduled the same day appointment. Within 30 minutes my switches were replaced. I was happy and the fee was so reasonable. My only regret was not doing this sooner! Omar was the electrician who came into my home, wore a mask (I am immunocompromised), and did the work neatly, efficiently, and professionally. If you need an electrician, this one is the one I am so glad I chose. Bookmark it especially if you own your home because you know, you'll eventually need this. Fiver for perfection. Thanks Omar!

Rigo did a great job with the 3 things I had done: replacing an electrical panel, replacing 2 light fixtures, and installing a smoke alarm. He was on time, knowledgable, and efficient. I don't think it is necessarily the cheapest option around but with something like this, quality and experience matters and they did a great job and handle permits and such. They did exactly what I asked them to do and were responsive over email and able to ask the exact questions they needed which made things seamless. This is not necessarily a bad thing but they could have probably done some kind of "walk through" around the place and found some additional work for me. Upselling is obviously not always a great practice but in my case, there were some things that I wish I had done and I think they could have suggested them and left it up to me to say yes/no to during the initial inspection. For example my kitchen could definitely use at least 1 additional outlet, I should have probably replaced a 3rd light, and so on. I do respect that they don't try to take you on a ride but since it is probably efficient to do things all at once, may have been helpful to discuss (this was also my bad for not noticing these things before). Rigo did a bunch of smaller things that made a big difference too like taking out the packaging for the lights and the old ones as well as the old electrical panel, clearly labeling all the switches very neatly which was not well done before, answering my questions and explaining things in a way that I (someone with little knowledge about most of this stuff) would understand.

Told us we wouldn't be charged for his time but we got a $400 bill for "diagnostics and troubleshooting." On top of this, communication was a mess. Manager called me at 6pm on a Friday and couldn't get two words together, not sure if he was high or just exhausted but it was a super unprofessional call and left me with more questions than answers. Finally got some clarity in an email, but jeez what a mess. Maybe their work quality is good, but I won't be sticking around to find out. I'll be working with someone who is more up front about their work, better at communicating, and doesn't charge so much.
