I must have accidentally worn my invisible suit today.
I found this salon by accident. Yesterday I was in Skokie for work and I decided that I wanted to find a salon closer to work then home because I work long hours & can only go to my usual manicure salon on the weekends. Google presented Elegant Nail Salon first with a 4.9 star review. As I pulled up their website & looked under services, much to my surprise, they listed scalp massage/treatments at a special price. What a great deal, I thought. I called them immediately & made a 1pm appointment for today.
I live in the city, but, as I always do, out of curtesy, I arrived about 5 minutes early. As I walked in, there was no receptionist, just 3 women doing nails for other clients. I stood at the reception desk for several minutes but no one looked up, greeted me or even acknowledged my existence. I decided to sit down & wait since I knew I was early. I distracted myself with my cellphone. Two other ladies eventually walked in with their adorable little girl. They were sweet as pie to the new party & asked them to pick their colors. They still did not acknowledge me. I then walked up to the technician doing a pedicure & said excuse me twice before she looked up. I told her that I had a one pm for a scalp treatment. She said, ok, someone will be with you soon. No apology, no asking my name, nothing. I sat back down & told myself that I would give them another 10 minutes, but then I would leave. Another lady (technician) came from out of the back with her hands in her apron. She talked to the other ladies but in a different language so I have no idea what was said but still, I waited. 9 minutes in & I grabbed my keys from my purse. 10 minutes & I got up & walked out. Almost at my car, the pedicure technician ran out & called after me (I couldn't understand her). At that point I was already upset at the lack of acknowledgment, lack of apology & simply, lack of communication. I left feeling pretty pissed.
Now, admittedly, the ladies receiving services seemed to be getting exceptional treatments. They have received excellent reviews. I understand that things happen & sometimes people run late. I don't however, condone ignoring guests. A simple hello, what can i do for you & a basic apology or explanation that they were running late would have kept me there. I received none of those things. I was a first time customer & I also work in sales/customer service. I typically work 60+ hour weeks. I just wanted a little relaxation to treat myself. I don't like feeling invisible & frankly, I don't know anyone who does.
What an utter disappointment. Zero stars. read more
