I had a meeting at Elemental, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of other items outside of coffee. I'm used to going to coffee shops and having my options be some super sugary drink, guaranteed to keep me up for three days, or hot chocolate. Suffice it to say, I'm not usually impressed. My iced chai latte here, however, was delicious. The service was quick and friendly, and the place was crowded, even mid-day on a weekday. I did notice a lack of seating, which I've seen at a lot of coffee shops in general. It's unfortunate, as so many people grab a table and don't leave for 5-6 hours at a time, so even if you're only there for an hour, you might have a tough time finding a good spot. Overall though, great beverages, nice staff, and it's a beautiful space for a meeting. read more

Business is booming at Elemental! Here's why: - The best coffee in the city*. Hear me out: I regularly drink a latte, which may seem like sacrilege to purists (who should flock to the siphon bar on Saturday afternoons and perhaps scan some other aficionados' reviews). Nonetheless, some milk and sugar in the raw doesn't preclude the ability to recognize superior coffee. I crave Elemental's latte; it has depth and flavor like none other. Any time it makes sense to swing by- whether to sit and drink or take with-, I will. When I'm unable to make it to Elemental, and see my friends check in there, I (momentarily) tinge chartreuse with envy. I've often thought about asking the team at Elemental to plant a coffee truck outside my work so that I can swing downstairs for therapy/ an IV drip. - The new menu. Elemental used to turn out sweet and savory crepes, but their new menu is more broad. I hope the crepes come back on occasion. Still, breakfast and lunch plates are so wholesome and lovely that the crepe sacrifice is rather okay. The menu changes, though there are certain plates that turn up again and again. Of these, I am especially fond of the tacos (on Tuesdays, with one of the most delicious salsas I've ever enjoyed) and the PCP quesadilla. I've heard tell that the biscuits and gravy is a gobsmacker of a breakfast. Generally, I've found the plated dishes stronger than baked goods and ready-made items like the wrapped sandwiches, but I've had some fantastic scones and bars, too (Try the "It's a Date Bar"). The best advice I can give you is to go with what sounds good to you; chances are, you'll be very happy. - The new space. Now that the menu is on the reg, the evolution of space is particularly important. In short, there are more places to sit than before. You can dine near the roaster, at the bar, seated at one of the community tables, or when Oklahoma weather is forgivingly mild and pleasant, on the patio out front. Inside, Elemental is easy on the eyes, with open space and plenty of natural light. So too are the patrons; I'd much rather people watch here than inside some run-of-the-mill franchise. - The team. Solid baristas and more. I'm not sure what everyone's job is, but I am sure that this small, local business works as a team. They are roasters, cooks, artists, marketers, and god knows what else. Together they have steadily evolved Elemental from a small, sparsely populated coffee house to a buzzing, thriving community player. H&8th Night Market, course-side refreshments for local bike races such as OKC Pro-Am Classic, and tents set up at events such as Wiggle Out Loud are testament to the team's community presence. Elemental Coffee Roasters is a local business to boast about, cheer on, and visit repeatedly. Or more simply, to enjoy. Stop by and get to know it. *Other contenders for best coffee, to separate the wheat from the chaff, include Coffee Slingers, Mariposa, Leaf + Bean, Evoke, and Stumptown (available at Syrup). I've also had pretty good lattes at All About Cha (though not consistently, and not with the depth of flavor that makes me swoon). Of these, Elemental is my clear favorite. I came to this coffee house because of all the rave reviews and I was pretty disappointed. There were oodles of photos with wonderful latte art and I get my drink and nothing. The taste was interesting and enjoyable, but presentation was lackluster. The choices were very limited for the coffee and although, I'm typically a no muss no fuss kinda gal I do like having the option to dress up or dress down my coffee. There were more food items than coffee options and they did look very good. I would classify this place as more of a cafe than a coffeeshop. I was there from 7:45-9:45am working and it was pretty crowded and loud. The decor is nice and I really loved the local artist showcased on the walls. Staff was rushed and not very warm when spoken to due to the high volume of customers. Personally I'd recommend going to a less popular spot if you are meeting or making telephone calls. read more

The other day I found myself in a rush to get some food and coffee before heading up an all day event. I found myself at Elemental with the hope of getting some breakfast in addition to some great coffee. The staff was super and when I explain I couldn't decide what I wanted to grab to eat but needed something that would last me awhile since I was working an event that day, they offered me a homemade parfait. And it was super yummy. Would I normally pay several dollars for a parfait? No. Was this one completely worth it? Hell yes. Not only did it taste great, but the staff was right on about it sustaining me through the morning to my late lunch. I also had wonderful coffee that they provided in a to-go cup for me. I absolutely love the staff here and will come back as often as my budget will allow. The coffee house itself is a converted gas station (or at least that's what it looks like it used to be). The inside has communal bench seating, which was a little strange to me, but after experiencing it a few times now I've gotten used to it and enjoy the friendly atmosphere it creates. If you are a coffee lover, I highly recommend trying Elemental out. read more

Elemental seems to be a favorite among locals and I can see why with it's friendly service, on-site bean roasting and modern decor. However, I just don't think I'm enough of a coffee snob to appreciate Elemental Coffee Roasters. I like syrup with my latte and lots of sugar with my coffee. They claimed they had neither syrup or sugar because their coffee is so good that they don't need it. I had several cups of coffee over my 2 days in OKC and there was something missing...syrup and sugar! I actually found myself wishing I had a starbucks in my hand instead. Gasp. I did however enjoy my yogurt and granola very much. The communal seating at Elemental Coffee Roasters may look nice, but I found it to be a bit uncomfortable. If you're really into coffee you'll probably be quite satisfied at Elemental. However, if you drink coffee with the purpose of staying awake like I do you're likely to have an A-OK experience here like I did. read more

Oklahoma City is having a revival of sorts. There are many interesting businesses popping up and this is one of them. This place has potential. The coffee was decent but the service was so snobby that it ruined the experience for me. I wanted cream for my coffee but had to ask a barista for it because they don't keep it out for customers to use. When finished using the cream, I asked if I was supposed to put it on the condiment bar for other customers to use and she said with attitude, "oh no, it doesn't go there". She said it as if I was doing something wrong by putting cream in my coffee. I love quality coffee and enjoy shops that take coffee seriously. This store should visit Intelligentsia in Chicago and take a few lessons from them. They serve extremely high quality coffee with friendly service AND they are customer-oriented. They have a condiment bar with cream, sugar, and artificial sugar. At Elemental, it seems to be all about the people who work there, not about the customers. disclaimer: I don't drink coffee and I don't care to drink it unless I'm studying for finals. But I am a fan of good customer service. I think they roast their own coffee which is cool. I wish I could say more about their coffee but I can't. I've been here a handful of times now and the service is always really pleasant, even on busy mornings. The vibe is pretty hipsterish. It's loud in there great natural lighting. It's a dog friendly coffee shop! They have a dog bowl on their COVERED patio. One of the few places I can take Luna on a rainy day. They let me in with her, just to order, which is nice so I didn't have to sit outside staring longingly for service through their window. Disclaimer: Normally I'm a Starbucks addict. I know, I know... unfortunately I don't get to live downtown near cool places like this. Starbucks is convenient, comfortable, and what I know and love. But I'm still open to trying out the local coffee places when I'm in the area, and I'm very glad I tried Elemental. I ordered a simple latte. I felt a little silly asking what their flavors are (and made it obvious that I'm too spoiled by Starbucks) because all they can do is mocha. Thankfully, the cashier wasn't snobby, and politely informed me of the options. I wasn't in the mood for mocha, so plain latte it is. Little did I realize that the latte needed NO flavoring at all! In fact, it would have taken away from the experience of enjoying such a wonderful drink. My taste buds had been saturated with sugary Starbucks goop for so long that drinking this latte wakened them up to the real meaning of coffee again! I was reminded of the beauty in simple things. It's so much more than *just* a latte. I also had the C'est La Brie sandwich for lunch. It was a delicious combination of brie, ham, and jam. I think I go here 1-2x week. It's an all round great coffee shop with a solid bakery and solid food menu. My favorite thing to eat is their quiche. It's perfect. So fluffy. I wish I could replicate it. But I can't. Therefore, I will just continue to go to Elemental. Plus, they make a smooth latte, their scones are a perfect and their new maple brown sugar cookies are addicting. Also helps they are 7 minute drive from my place. read more

Unfortunately for me, it seems that their menu isn't particularly built for my tastes. Many of their items have a decidedly vegan theme. This place happens to be the most sought after meeting spot I've ever known. Almost every before-noon meeting I've scheduled or been a part of, has been here and it really is the perfect place for that. You'll always run into someone you know but it is also good for extended periods of time of just catching up on emails on one of their farmhouse style tables. Love the minimal atmosphere of this place. As a non-coffee drinker, tea selections are important and I so wish there were more options but I do like that the tea options can sometimes be seasonal, making it easy for me to still try something new and the staff has always been helpful in my decision-making. I'm also so happy that they offer little treats and gourmet chocolates. Especially good for breakfast meetings when you don't want to start going nuts from caffeine but still need a little pick me up. The most top-notch thing about Elemental is their community involvement. Their passion for the neighborhood and the city is really obvious and makes me want to go there all the more. I give Elemental Coffee a solid 3.8 stars. The coffee is good in a third wave sort of way. They are minimalist with coffee choices--- espresso, latte, cappuccino, pour over, etc. If you like a skinny, nonfat, caramel macchiato with sweetener, this place probably isn't for you. We tried the rocky road brownie. I was drawn to the brownie because it was the size of my hand--- it was dry. I like a coffee shop to have a good dessert selection and I was disappointed in this. Also, the staff was not very personable. I didn't get the "Hi, I work at a coffee shop and like it vibe." They don't have to chat me up, but there were a lot of serious vibes going on. The shop is nicely appointed with long tables and benches--- also a lovely outdoor seating area. If you don't feel communal, there are seats and a bar with very uncomfortable stools. I think we will be back, but this isn't "our" coffee shop. read more

I enjoy my coffee to be drinkable, like this was, not scolding like the barista is trying to reinvent magma. The building is very contemporary in its bare industrial look. Spending this weekend rejuvenating, slowing things down, and treating myself to some me-time, and toast, before the week days begin again. This toast is what toast dreams are made of. Avocado toast with avocado, radish, toasted sesame seeds, lemon zest, alder wood smoked salt, on @escavitae multi-grain toast with a fried egg on top, upon request. They even so graciously held off on the cilantro for me (one of the two foods my tastebuds do not agree with in any way, shape, or form). Is it right to describe a toast as glorious? Well, if not, then that's a shame because that's what this toast is. I could eat like 5. But, I'll refrain, and instead reminisce on it's deliciousness as I savor the rest of my first cup of coffee before shamelessly approaching the counter for a second cup. The smoked salmon toast was equally just as salivatingly delicious. Every experience here that I've had has been marvelous. Delicious coffee. 100% quality food and ingredients. Always a great study spot and place to get work done! Their tables usually fill pretty quickly, but they are consistently nice and also really involved in the community. As a student, the only hesitancy I have is when I have a lot of studying to do or when I know I will be there for a long time -- their seating is a little uncomfortable, with the exception of a small couch and two cushioned seats. BUT for anyone who is just looking for a non-lengthy visit, this is a great place to go! read more

Really great coffee and an excellent variety of drinks. Their Cold Brew Bitter Lemon is delicious and refreshing. Very well-balanced summer drink. They make their own baked goods and stuff too. The raw chocolate tart was too tasty - it's a good thing they only had two left or I would've eaten them to the brink of self-loathing. Absolutely incredible. People behind the counter were laid back and friendly. I trust their recommendations. I bought beans to take back with me (out of state) and happily enjoyed the roast they suggested.
