We had an outside table on a warm Sunday evening. The service was bad, needed more water, etc. The salads were fine, but the pizza was awful. It was barely lukewarm when we got it, doughy, undercooked and lacking in toppings. The Potato one was supposed to have rosemary but none was detected. Elemental pizza is a restaurant in U Village... It's located where Zao noodles used to be... They feature all types of pizzas from classic cheese to flavorful eclectic blends. My wife had the curried chicken and I went for the marguerita.. And a Caesar salad with anchovies... Everything was fresh, served fast and delicious... My simple tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil pizza was heavenly and the crust was crispy and chewy at the same time... Forget the big chains... Just the typical pizza place. Small menu, OK facility. I ordered the shrimp linguine, the portion was large and good. The pizzas looked a little burnt. Convenient when shopping around. What a difference a second time around makes! When last I reviewed this place, it had just opened and the staff was all over the place...except at our table. We didn't have a great time and didn't intend on going back--especially since it can be a little pricey. Steve R. (co-founder) encouraged us to go back and it only took us three months to do it! We were invited warmly, the service was prompt and efficient, and every person from the line cook to the host was cheerful and responded to any questions we had with a positive attitude. Enough about politics, the food...OMG the food here is to DIE for. Seriously, do not eat a THING before coming here. In fact, fast all day and then come here to eat. We had "The Elemental" *yum* and "The Carnivorous" **yumyum*--I also had the fire roasted broccolini as well as a salad with roasted pine nuts and arugula. I washed all that down with a pint of cider and when I thought I couldn't eat another bite, I order a cookie sandwich with brownie cookie and salted caramel gelato. I hope your mouth is watering right now! As a side note, I was particularly moved when I looked over and saw a little boy rolling out some pizza dough on a plate. He rolled it into a shape and the cook baked it in the oven for him. He was so cute, and the cook happily gave dough to two other boys soon after. What a treat for kids! Based on a recommendation from a friend we stopped in for a lunch post Christmas. Sat at the counter, the service was prompt and courteous, we saw our pizza's being made moments after ordering. Guys making pizza answered my questions about the flour (you need a fine ground high gluten for a good crust). The prosciutto & arugula is almost as good as what I consider the best pizza locally (Evviva in Edmonds), the difference being the crust. I love this place. I drive from Kenmore at least once a week for the Yukon Gold (olive oil, rosemary, the perfect amount of cheese and delicately chewy thin-sliced potatoes). Ohmygod. Potatoes on a pizza, you say? Just try it. You won't be disappointed. The crust is yummy and soft with a bit of crunch--but be aware, this is wood fired! A little char is normal and adds a rustic numminess (that's a word). Bonus, my nephew loves watching the pizza get tossed up, and he gets his own dough to play with. I read the positive reviews and decided to give this place a try. We ordered the Prosciutto, Classic Pepperoni, and Carnivorous. The Prosciutto was so salty; no amount of water chugging could satiate my thirst. As for the Pepperoni, there was too much cheese and not enough pepperoni (you might as well order a Cheese with a side of pepperoni). The Carnivorous was equally disappointing. All three pizzas were overly burnt. There's a fine line between properly crisped crust (or even slightly charred) and one that's so burnt that the acrid flavor overpowers the other ingredients. All told, the only dish on our table that we enjoyed was the caesar salad. read more

Update to my previous review. Steve, the owner, contacted me after my review and felt very badly. He went over the re-training he did based on the events that occured and invited us back in for another shot. He even let me bring in more than our original parties as our group had grown for this event. We had a great time, the food was good, and the service was excellent. The manager personally apologized while we were there as well. I would give this place a shot and I hope the changes are sustained as I love wood fired pizza. read more

Very impressed with the fresh, home-made taste of these pizzas! They are "personal" sized (no other size options), but it's the perfect amount for two people if you decide to start with a salad. Speaking of which, the house salad, while fresh and tart, is covered in a lemon vinaigrette which is SUPER sour. I would ask for dressing on the side next time. read more

I made a reservation yesterday to come in, and I had to wait additional 20-30 minutes after I arrived even though I came in at the time they told me to come.. Anyways we were seated and ordered our food. I ordered a Lemon Shrimp Linguine and Carnivorous pizza.. As for the Pasta,, I am a Pasta Lover, wherever I go I always order pasta.. But I was seriously disappointed on How terrible this tasted.. The noodles were so soggy that It felt like I was eating a dump of nasty soup.. The sauce itself was not bad but it was so bland that I had to pour a whole lot of crushed pepper into the sauce... And as for the Carnivorous Pizza... Honestly I could of gotten the same pizza at Costco for a whole lot less and more amount... The overall experience was just too less for that kind of pricing... I also did try the Prosciutto & Arugula from my friend's order but it was so salty... The Truffled Mushroom pizza might of been the only decent pizza there. The pizza was okay, nothing too spectacular. It's definitely thin crust. The toppings are unique, however, I think I prefer Ballard Pizza Co. The service, on the other hand, was horrendous. We had a female server, Rex, and we must have waited 15-20 minutes before she approached us. One of the chefs saw us and was asking if we were visited. Fortunately, Rex came by 5 minutes later. Staff could use some training on how to greet costumers at the door. We were approached by 3 different servers and each one told us that the other person would be helping us. I noticed that this also happened to the people that were behind us which was quite confusing. Went here for the first time last night, and was glad to see that there might be a restaurant that will stand the test of time in UVillage. We sat at the bar, since there was a wait for tables. The Quatro Formaggio pizza was very good, although could've been hotter. I am anxious to try the cookies and gelato dessert next time. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

Looks like there might a back up option for Tutta Bella! Thin crust - yes; good toppings - yes; tasty - yes! Worth a visit to Elemental, if you like wood fired, think crust pizza. This place is nothing special. The pizzas are unremarkable and a bit expensive. I had a pulled pork sandwich on their "home-baked" bread. It was bland and the bread was soggy. My youngest had mac'n cheese which was also very bland. He didn't eat much of it (and usually he is not picky when it comes to that dish) The worst part was the service. Even though there were plenty of open tables, they didn't seat us for 20 minutes (which was just in time for happy hour to be over). After that, it took another 15 minutes for a server to notice us. I love this place. I had an amazing waiter, he was so kind, really good with kids, had an amazing smile. He even offered my little brother some pizza dough to play with. I had an amazing time there. But on Friday I went, It wasn't busy at all. There were lots of tables open, while we were seated, our waitress looked tired and uninterested. They took forever to get our order down. They forgot we ordered a kids mac and cheese and a salad but kindly gave us the mac and cheese for free. She then proceeded to ask us if we still wanted the salad and we said yes. But then our bill came and we weren't charged for the salad. The salad took so long to arrive we just left right after we paid the bill. It was just not a good day. read more

I love the food at this place but the service is not good at all. I am currently a server so I understand the industry and I have a lot of grace for servers making little mistakes but when I went in last it took forever to get food, the men in the kitchen were texting, I asked for Parmesan and they said they didn't have any because they had already put it away, and then the server dropped the bill right when we got our food. I get that they wanted to leave but if someone is in your restaurant at 9 pm you should serve them the exact same way you would serve someone who came in at opening. Lastly, they were putting the chairs up on the tables while we were still eating and that tipped me over the edge. The lack of hospitality is ridiculous. So great pizza but horrible service! Elemental Pizza hits on all marks. A fantastic decor is just the beginning of a great dining experience. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to meet every request we had despite being on a small wait. The pizzas we tried were the perfect balance between comfort food and culinary art. Excellent food! Had the flying Hawaiian pizza it was fantastic. Service was fast and there is outside eating which was very enjoyable. The service was allright, the ambiance was fine but the food left much to be desired. We ordered the Big Chopped Salad for $11 and it was awful. The lettuce was bitter, the dressing was mediocre and the salad wasn't really chopped. I asked for bread, which in most restaurants are served with a salad and I was charged $1 for three small pieces of toasted italian bread.
