Went to Eli's today to get so some cheesecakes and have a light lunch with my mom. The eating and buying area is very nice with plenty of cheesecakes to pick from, The lunch menu is pretty large. We split a tuna sandwich and it was very good. Prices are moderate to high, but food is fresh and yummy. My only problem was the customer service. The people at the counter did not want to be there. They seemed lifeless. The one girl who took our order acted like a little bit helps. She was so crabby I wanted to slap her. She barely spoke and did not smile. When another girl rung up our items, she was pleasant and I made a comment, at least you smile... if my mom was not with me, I would of said someth8ng to her. If she is there next time I go, I will say something to her or a manager. read more

Oh god, it's soooooo goooooood!!!! This is definitely one of our hit up places when family and friends come to town for a visit. Their tours are awesome, especially for only $3/person. You don't get to see a whole lot on the tour due to safety issues, but trust me... The tour's DEFINITELY worth it! So what could be even more awesome than a cheesecake factory with cheap tours? Well, they have tons of desserts (yes, they make more than just cheesecake) with minor cosmetic issues for dirt cheap. So disheartened by this company. Sent a cheesecake to my 90 year old uncle in Washington State but b/c of their processing methods -- he never received it! When I placed the order, they took my credit card (via website), however due to credit card fraud, my card had to be canceled 2 days later. I believed they would have processed my card immediately. However, they did not. NEVER RECEIVED AN EMAIL OR PHONE CALL TELLING ME THAT MY ORDER WAS NOT SENT, OR THAT THEY NEEDED ANOTHER FORM OF PAYMENT. I will agree 100 percent with the first reviewer. You have got to go at least once to this - it was phenomenal! I am not a cheescake connoisseur but this festival can make me into one./ The flavors were so amazing that I had not seen these in other types of desserts (pies, ice-creams, etc). We recently made our 100 mile round trip to Eli's. We ate Key lime and also Pumpkin cheesecake in the cafe and took home "salted caramel turtle cheesecake" and "New York" cheesecake. I got two large cakes for a total of only $15. What a bargain. All were yummy. I have yet to find a flavor I don't like. We highly recommend their cheesecakes. read more

I traveled across town to get here and was super excited to embark on their famous tour. To my dismay, they informed me that the factory was under construction and that there would only be a slideshow presentation in the dining area. I guess I can't complain since it was free and we got a few small free samples and a whole cheesecake was raffled off (boo, I didn't win). However, the 45 min metro ride over here probably was not worth it. I did get to learn about the history of Eli's cheesecake and all the famous celebrities that they have made cheesecakes for though. We also came on a day where small slices were on sale for $1 (originally $1.50). Mind you, these are not full size portions but frozen pre-packaged itty bitty slices. I wish I was more hungry to actually try their food and dessert here other than the cheesecake but my stomach wouldn't allow me to. All in all, waste of a morning spent in Chicago :( read more

It was my first time yesterday to visit this place and was quite surprised that it was in an industrial area. I thought it was a small cafe or bakery I didn't realize it was a factory. I didn't realize how much I love Eli's until I couldn't have any yesterday. I wanted to share our beloved cheesecake with some out-of-town guests, but I only realized after that fact that Eli's was already closed. (Biggest Eli's drawback: they close early, so if you get off of work late on a weeknight or if you drag on the weekend, you won't get any cheesecake at all after 5). So I drove to the nearest Dominick's and looked all over their freezer section. Nothing. Then I drove to Jewel (where I've bought a box or two before), but it was dominated by Sara Lee boxes and absolutely no Eli's. Argh!! I don't think the local grocery stores are selling them anymore!! Needless to say, Eli's is damn good and well worth my struggle. And if you actually get the chance to go here, it's a mecca for cheesecake lovers. Since I work till 5 today, I'll have to forfeit the visit-- but I've already sent a frantic text message to my brother to buy me a box or two, and I am pleased to say that I should have a box of divine cheesecake waiting for me when I get home. ;) If I don't, I most likely will cry like a little girl. read more

We recently have ordered three cheesecakes, Strawberry, Blackberry Sour, and a Sampler, all are/were wonderful. From past experience if something is not right, they are the first to correct it! We made the long trek from downtown to try out this cheesecake and it was well worth the trip. Good sized slices for very cheap. I tried the oreos, peanut butter, red velvet, and white chocolate. Of those, the white chocolate was my favorite followed by the peanut butter. All were yummy though and it was too bad we didn't have a refrigerator in our hotel room or we would have ordered more to take back with us. read more

I have edited this review from a one-star to a three star because after my reviews had posted, the owner of the company contacted me and was very concerned about my experience. We spent a lengthy amount of time discussing the situation. He appeared to be genuinely concerned with guest satisfaction as well as the company reputation. I can certainly respect that and appreciate his concern and attempts to resolve the issue. The original review was: I'm reviewing only the mail order part of the company. I ordered a cheesecake as a congratulatory gift for my mother. I ordered it weeks in advance to be delivered on a specific date. A couple of days before, I received an email stating that my card had been declined. I called, the expiration date was incorrect. I was told I'd be given a phone call if anything else went awry. My mother never received her cheesecake. I called and was told my card was declined a second time. I called the bank, which assured me there were no declines associated with my card. I received an email offering 10% off my order. When I called again about the declined card, the rep argued with me about not contacting me after the card was declined the second time. She said the system automatically sends one. I repeated to her the dates and times of the only emails I had received. Then she refused to read my card number to me (I was not in an area where I could say my card no. out loud) until I told her to cancel the order. She then read my card number to me stating that she wasn't responsible if I weren't authorized to use the card. The card info that she read to me was correct, she offered to run it again, this time it went through with no problems. She did not give me the 10% that had been offered and my mother received her cheesecake 5 days after the originally requested ship date. When she received it, the dry ice was gone, the bag was open and the cheesecake was warm. This was a very unpleasant experience and I don't plan on ordering from Eli's ever again. read more

Very weird and unprofessional experience. My mother and boyfriend went to Eli's on October 12, 2013 and saw a chocolate cake for purchase, my mother is planning to have a party on the 16th for my brother but decided she would come back the day before to purchase the chocolate cake (my brother's favorite.) my mother and I drove from La Grange to Eli's which was about a 30 minute drive. The whole time in car she was ranting how much she liked the place from her first visit. We arrived and noticed that there were many cakes on display but no chocolate cake so we assume there were more in the back. We asked an employee behind the counter if there was any chocolate cake in the back. The employee quickly replied "No" and continued on with whatever it was she was working on (there was no one else in the store.) I asked the same employee if she can please ask someone if we can make an order because she seemed absolutely clueless...she replied " the bakery will or will not make it, I have no clue" and then she turned her back to us. My mother and I were speechless. I do not understand why she could not walk 10 feet to the other workers who looked like they were decorating cakes and ask them a simple question about the cake. What upset me the most was a lack of communication on her part. We could not understand why an order could not be placed. We felt like we were not important customers. We purchased a tiramisu cake to go, a coffee, a slice of cake to eat there (we had a toddler with us who was getting hungry), and we bought one chocolate covered strawberry. The slice was delicious. The coffee was fine. My daughter devoured the strawberry in minutes and I went to the counter to purchase another...when I asked for another the same employee pushed the bigger strawberries to the side and served me the smallest wrinkly one and did not say a single word to me as it was handed. As we left we thought we should've spoken to a manager about the poor customer service. The slice we had was very good but I feel that the employees should be much more knowledgable as to what they are selling and how the place is run. read more

Recently I stopped by and surveyed their cheescakes . Most of them were kept frozen. Prices were attractive though, an 6" cake for $ 6.00. Can't beat that. However, as I looked on the ingredients list I was repelled with what I saw: an GMO product like corn sweetener and Canola oil, also Carrageenan, a carcinogenic known to cause digestive problems and ulcers. I wasn't delighted any more. I complained to a lady from a factory. She told me they were working on weeding out GMO products, but she could not promise they would get rid of Carrageenan because it holds cream in frozen dairy foods, and keeps it from running when defrosted. As I was squeezed for time and I needed a cake to wish a birthday to a family member so I picked one up. So, cake basically served to hold birthday candles. One or two pieces were tasted by guests, out of politeness, and the rest went to garbage. read more
