Nice atmosphere to eat bougie southern food. Instead of chicken and waffles they serve duck with a sweet potato waffle--I honestly couldn't detect the sweet potato flavor, but it was good nevertheless. The duck could have been a tad crispier, but it was decent. The creme brûlée was good, and is prepared table-side. The guy prepping mine got a little carried away and kinda scorched a section of it, but it was still tasty. The drinks are generously poured--I had the elderflower-champagne concoction that was pretty good if you like sweet. It's cozy-feeling inside, so it seems like it is a good date spot. read more

NOT IMPRESSED!! We would celebrate holidays here often before COVID and wanted to give it a try for Valentine's Day as we have started to go out again. They advertised a special Valentines menu that wasn't even available. Items described on the menu did not come to the table the way they were described. The manager quit wearing his mask about halfway through our meal. We had to ask for refills of water and tea. The restroom floor and toilet was covered in urine and I never saw anyone go clean it after I alerted them. Multiple dogs walked through the dining room to get to the back patio. I think the only good thing was the beignets. I can say without a shadow of doubt we will never support a Charleston Hospitality Group restaurant again. Let's be honest, Charleston Hospitality Group doesn't have the best reputation to begin with. This restaurant does not fit the expectation for a restaurant that's supposed to be fine dining. read more

I feel bad about this review because the food was more than excellent. The service. Ugh, it was some of the worst I've experienced in Charleston. The waiter was a very nice guy, just incompetent. I won't bore you with the details, but amateurish errors right from the start when we sat down to when we paid the check. Again, a really nice guy, but he may be better off working at Chipotle. You expect much more from a Charleston restaurant. Its too bad when poor service throws a wet blanket over an otherwise fantastic meal. Really, I would have preferred to go to the bar and pick up my food, myself. Having said that, I would go back and try it again. But because of the experience, it won't be on top of my list. But the food... A delicious take on Shrimp and Grits. My wife had the salmon. It was done very well, but she didn't feel as though she got her money's worth. The size of the protein was fine, I think the sides were a bit on the small side so it made the meal seem as though it was skimpy. Unfortunate. This place looked promising based on reviews and had seating open. Struggle bus though. Waiting 20 minutes to be seated with tables open all over the restaurant. Then once seated it was another 1.5 hours before the food arrived. Adjacent tables were not bussed, the served a Cappuccino that was practically clear and the food was only mediocre when it arrived. My husband and I visited Eli's Table for the first time on Saturday night. It was our first dinner out together since our son was born, so we wanted to go somewhere nice and I had heard good things about this place! It did not disappoint. Our server, Carey, was friendly and attentive without being overbearing or stuffy. He brought us several treats during our meal (a champagne toast and an extra dessert - really very thoughtful!) that made the evening feel special. My husband ordered a glass of red wine that he enjoyed enough to have a second, and I ordered the Jet Fuel (I don't drink and I was falling asleep, so coffee before dinner seemed appropriate!) My drink was delicious. Carey suggested the Fried Green Tomato Napolean app and said it had won an award for best fried green tomatoes on the east coast, so we decided to start with that. Delicious! The batter was nice and crispy, the tomatoes were firm but not too tough, and the sauce on the bottom was perfectly tomato-y and fresh. My only complaint is that a woman came and took the plate away while I was still eating the last of the dish on my own little plate - I would have eaten more of the sauce! My husband ordered the duck w/ waffles and I ordered the fresh catch (mahi mahi that night, on a bed of red rice risotto). My husband cleaned his plate. My dish was actually quite large and I couldn't finish it all. I do wish there had been a bit more of the cream sauce and I would have added salt BUT I add salt to almost everything, so that's more of a comment about me than about the dish. We ended with the Key Lime pie (more of a mouse! very light and fluffy) and the Creme Brulee (a nice touch by Carey). Both were absolutely delicious, and the creme brulee was carmelized table-side, which was a nice touch. Service and food were pretty excellent. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that the inside (esp. the bathroom) could use a little face lift (if I'm paying $175 for a meal, I want the surroundings to be nice!) and b/c I really wanted the rest of that sauce on the fried green tomatoes!! Don't take the plate if someone is still eating! We'll be back. read more

We ate at Eli's Table tonight for the first time. We have come to Charleston many times just to get a fine meal and Eli's Table didn't disappoint. We had two waiters both named Brice and they were fantastic- gave us wonderful suggestions. I had their shrimp and grits with a roasted beet salad and my husband had a cup if she-crab soup and roasted duck over a sweet potato waffle with grilled Brussels sprouts!! It was the best!! Had a great experience here. Just wanted to stop off and have a quick lunch. I ordered the Ham and Brie sandwich while my parents ordered the ABLT (avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato), and the house burger. Large portions, tasty, and attentive service by our waiter Paul K. He made suggestions without being pushy, was on top of refills, and checked on us to make sure we enjoyed everything we received. Just an all around pleasant experience. We found this place on a whim when we came early in the week to celebrate our Valentine's Day. We were from out of town and my gf has only been to Charleston a couple of times, so I wanted to show her a taste of the cuisine in the area. After getting drinks at Husk, we came here for dinner since there was open availability for dinner. Definitely a great choice! White table cloth, experienced staff, and the options on the menu were all great! My steak was cooked to perfection, and my gf got the chef special that was a little spicy(which she loves)but very flavorful. Great choices for wine too. Our server, Paul K., was very informative and helped us make the right choices for dinner. Even though we stayed a little after they had closed for service, we were not pushed out the door. They allowed us to enjoy the rest of our wine with no issues. We even got to see the cutest pup! Long story short, great service,great food, and we will be back when we are in town. read more

While on a bachelorette party in Charleston we chose this restaurant as one of our morning brunch destinations. The girl who was "in charge" of the party had made a reservation here for the ten of us which was nice but not necessary as it wasn't busy. But since she told them we were there for a bachelorette party they were very attentive and excited for us. The manager even brought us all champagne. We were all very impressed. As for the food, it was amazing! Everything was so perfectly balanced. I got the low country Benedict which came with fried oysters. They were divine! The hollandaise sauce was not a traditional lemon butter sauce but a more like a gravy with ham in it. It was great! I really enjoy trying food that is common to an area, and it was a very delightful experience. The other girls got dishes ranging from French toast to Eli's traditional breakfast. Of course we all got drinks. They had a drink, the European tour,that was champagne with elderflower liquor served in a martini glass that was amazing. I had two! read more

Customer Service (Hostess Andrea) here is horrible, we thought we were the only ones that felt that way until we were waiting outside and a gentlemen set next to us and stated "I employee 400 personnel and that hostess couldnt work for me with that attitude!", he to was upset with her attitude. When we arrived the hostess was very snarly, she told my wife, "You didnt tell me that before", with a super smart mouth. After my wife said it three times. Then she seated us right in the isle and smiled ehen she did it, knowing it was a terrible seat. Keep in mind the dining room was half full. The service and food was great! Very much enjoyed the Bacon Bloody Mary and the Red Bean Rice Hash. But if cleanliness is next to godliness then this place is Hell! Everything I was given - my menu, salt and pepper shakers, hot sauce, syrup dispenser, even the folder with our bill was dirty and sticky. I'm not a germaphob but when trying to eat and you keep winding up with sticky crap on you hands it's an unpleasant experience. Even the glasses with out water didn't look properly clean. I was excited to try this place for brunch because it was close to our hotel and had great reviews. What a disappointment! The food is terrible. We ordered the beignets to start and they were dense and chewy....not what they should be. I ordered the Eli's breakfast with poached eggs and sausage. My eggs were undercooked and there was a shell in them, and the little bowl the eggs came in was filled with water. The sausage was inedible, and the biscuit tasted like it was from Popeyes. My husband has the avocado toast egg sandwich and he said it was bad. The avocado was barely a smear and it was dried and brown. The only good thing I have to say about this place is that the service was friendly. But this is Charleston, everyone is friendly. read more

Came there last week during the cold snap. Had two dogs, so were seated outside. We ordered coffees to keep us warm and ordered a steak sandwich and grill cheese with a cup of soup. This is the reason for 3 stars. It took us an hour to get our food! I drank 2 whole cups of coffee during the wait. They didn't seem very busy, so I'm not sure why we waited that long. I didn't think my grilled cheese was that great. $10 cheese sandwich would be more memorable, in my opinion. We'll def try to come back when we are in town and give the place another shot as my husband thought the steak sandwich was delicious. read more

So my family came down to viSit. Walked around the town and show some. I book a reservation about 3 hours prior to getting there. We showed up aNd there was no reservation. Showed my conformation email and then they seated us. Not to many people in there when we first show up. We order our apps and other food and the apps toook about 30-40 minutes to come out. Then after we ate the apps the dinner took over an hour to come out. People that came in before us ate and left before we even ate dinner. If the food wasn't sooo good tHey would of gotten and 1-2 starts from me. I'll try this place again at some point but they need to manage the food tickets better to serve people better. read more

Eli's is pretty average. I think its location is one of the reasons it's frequented so often. They don't do anything that's the best I've ever had. Their menu is pretty average, save for the names of the items. It's not too pricey at lunch and that's the only time I'd go. Service is okay as well. I'm not a fan of the seating layout, but I guess it's all they have to work with. You're either in the room off to the left and cramped, one one of the handful of tables in the room the bar is in, or outside. Bottom line: You won't come here for the best meal of your life, but it certainly won't be the worst either. read more

Delicious brunch with our two kids. Went during lunch hours on a Thursday. I had the crab & eggs and my husband had the green eggs & ham. Both cooked exactly how we requested. I don't like poached eggs so they fried my egg over hard. Paintings all around the restaurant very nice to see. The reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was we only got one cup of coffee as our waiter didn't come back to check on us after our food arrived. We could have used one more cup of their delicious hot coffee. And the hostess wasn't very welcoming or friendly. She did get us the two high chairs we needed so I give her kiddos for taking care of that. read more

Waited 20 mins before we got a drink order in which we were thinking maybe we should leave but stayed. I never send food back, but after not being able to get past my first three bites of my egg white omelet because all you tasted was salt I sent it back for another and it came back with less grits and still a salty white egg omelet that I couldn't eat. We had to go get our check because the waiter never came to check on us and of course they still charged us for something that was inedible. Wow! I made a reservation, but I don't think you need one during the week, and the person who took the call was friendly, thankful and nice. They have music that starts at 7 on Thursday, Friday and Sat., but it started early, so we enjoyed him from the moment we got there at 6:45. The singer, Tim Hockenberry, Is very good, he was a finalist on America's Got Talent. Our server Sam was amiable and warm, offered us a nice champagne, very nice service. Happy to oblige with any menu adjustments my friend wanted. I didn't want any changes. I had the duck and waffles with a maple and bacon "sauce" and brussel sprouts. Very disappointing service. We passed by and saw this cute little place and saw the reviews so we decided to drop in. Unfortunately we waited 45 minutes for our first plates to arrive. That's right not everyone at our table received their food at the same time. Once some of the food arrived there really wasn't anything special about our food other than the spectacular order of fries. The servers kept placing blame on the last shift for things not running smooth and there were quite a few tables that were also upset with the service. I definitely do not recommend coming here at 3pm (change of crew). read more
