    Understated elegance outside.

This highly rated Charleston restaurant lived up my expectations. Revival has ambience which exudes classy southern charm and the service is impeccable. All of this would mean nothing if the food was not superior as well. The sour dough bread and lump crab cakes were both excellent. Cakes had no filler and was tender and tasty. The Roasted Halibut entree melted in your mouth and was full of flavor. This was my favorite restaurant out of three tried this trip.

Where to begin. Over Valentine's weekend, we decided to try Revival. Starting with the service, it was exceptional. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and wine pairings. I did lobster bisque soup as an appetizer, duck for my entrée, with lava cake for dessert. My wife had a fillet, which was cooked, perfectly, medium, rare, and lava cake as well. Definitely recommend for a special evening!

This restaurant is in the same building as the rooftop bar. It has a very elegant atmosphere with amazing service. We shared a crab cake that only had about 30% filler and the rest lump crab with a really nice presentation. I had a medium filet that was perfectly cooked and so tender. The side with it was a fried cornbread that reminded me of my home in Georgia. My husband had shrimp and grits and he said it could have used a little bit more spice. We shared a flourless chocolate cake even though he really didn't want to share it. It was delicious!!!

This spot is well known as an upscale spot to go for a good meal. Sadly, this wasn't quite the treat we had hoped for. We went with a very seasoned group of Charleston restaurant patrons. Reservations were made a good month or so in advance. All parties were present and on time. We were seated and noticed immediately that the menu was shorter than the menu online, and the waitstaff came over to let us know we would be offered a prefix menu, something like a restaurant week menu. We were told that we were informed of this change, via text at 5pm. Even if this text was known, how do you get reservations on a Saturday night at 7pm with a party of 8, especially for an upscale evening out? We politely explained to Jonathan, our server, that we would prefer to have the regular menu - he promptly brought it to us and we all ordered what we wanted. Jonathan was great throughout the evening. Venison, Chicken, and Fish entrees were ordered. The chicken was stellar and what I came for, so very pleased. But, the fish: all 4 people at the table of 8 that ordered it complained of it being dry, rendering it not edible. I tasted my husband's and agreed - and when you overcook fish, especially the whole table, it's hard to move on from that - especially when a couple is spending $200 to $300 for their evening. The wine and cocktails were delicious, I had the fig Proscuitto salad - also amazing. The Elvis was a fun dessert that we all tasted - but when the most expensive part of the meals is so-so, it's hard to want to go back.

Great drinks and food. Service was ok. I had to ask our server if she wanted us to order from the bar vs her. The table wasn't clean. Disappointed because they had a lot going on but not too much to clean the table. Lives our drinks and appetizers. Will be back. Hope they get their service together

We went here because Revival was highly ranked. For a self-proclaimed #7, we were shocked when over half the tables were empty at 7:30pm. The escargot was decent. The apple salad tasted liked it had been dressed yesterday and re-served, it was wilted and disgusting. The pirlou had undercooked, crunchy rice on the bottom. The short rib was absolutely inedible. It was fatty and gray. Short ribs are supposed to fall off the bone. I couldn't even cut mine with a knife. When the waiter saw my clearly uneaten plate, he asked if I wanted a box but never once asked us how everything was. I am assuming he did not want to hear the answer. Completely awful dining experience from start to finish. Extremely disappointing for what was supposed to have been a fine dining experience. There was obviously a reason why over half the tables were empty. Do not waste your money here.

We stopped into Revival around 5:30 on a Saturday night. There wasn't anyone else in the restaurant, so we weren't sure if it was open to the public or not. We ordered the she crab soup, the low country Pirlou and the steak. The soups was great, and the rest of our meal was good. I definitely think they charge too much for what it was. With so many other dining options in the area, I don't know if we will be back.

We had dinner here last Saturday. It was our first time here and we really enjoyed the ambiance, service, and food. The ambiance was very romantic and noise was to a minimum. I also loved all the artwork that was able to be purchased. Our two servers were on top of it and made sure we were taken care of but not overbearing. I read that the portions are small so we got two appetizers (sourdough bread and scallops) with our entrees. So happy we did because everything was delicious! My husband doesn't like mushrooms but loved the mushroom risotto with his venison. I also loved the low country piriou, lots of seafood! Sadly, we were too full for dessert but will try it next time we are in town.

Food. Was. Amazing. I was nervous based on some 1 star reviews I saw, but the kitchen was ON POINT tonight. Halibut.. Brussels... She Crab Soup... even the specialty bread. Finished strong with the velvet Elvis cake. Brook took such good care of us. Started the meal congratulating us on our anniversary and dropping off a thoughtful card. Vibe was pretty chill for a Friday night, but we were there pretty late. We closed it down! We will be back!

Hidden gem. Top five seafood meals in my life and I travel globally for fishing. Also had the grilled octopus app which was also great. This meal was complexed flavorful and had lots of different textures. The rice was the kicker for me. Give it a try or you're missing out. Was a very nice place for my birthday trip from Pa. The service was a little slow but they had two big parties there that took up most of the tables. But the meals were very nice and were very tasty to eat there!

The deviled eggs were good and the scallops were as well. Nothing exceptional, but solid choices. For entrees we had a wide variety in our party. I had the fried catfish with red rice and cabbage. The dish was well portioned and fried but the red rice was cold and hard. The cabbage was good. A For dessert had I have pecan pie and it was just ok. The fish and grits were ok. They too were bland and needed salt. A LOT of salt or any other seasoning. The okra, Lima beans and corn that come in this dish also tasted like it came out of a frozen bag. There is no seasoning in this dish whatsoever. Unfortunately this place was a miss and we won't be returning. Also the bathrooms look like a porta potty. You know the cheap plastic that porta potties are made out of? Yeah that's what the stalls are made out of. It looks so cheap and a big contrast from the rest of the restaurant. The staff was nice but they also look like they hate working here.

This time around I was dining with friends, which meant we got to order a whole bunch of dishes - a foodie's dream. We started with the Hunter Cattle Beef Tartare, topped with shoestring potatoes, smoked cheddar, and egg yolk jam. It was rich, flavorful, and while the presentation looked a bit like dog food, it was otherwise the perfect way to kick off the meal. For the table, we also shared the Roasted Carrots, served with chamomile honey, labneh, puffed rice, candied peanuts, and an olive crumble. I know, carrots aren't always a "must-order," but trust me - they were fantastic. We also couldn't pass up the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread with Broadbent bacon crumble mixed throughout. Southern comfort food!!! For my entree, I ordered the Blueberry & Corn Salad, which was anything but an ordinary salad. Between the BBQ pecans, ricotta salata, bacon fat honey mustard, and fresh seasonal ingredients, every bite was packed with flavor. One friend ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo with compressed cantaloupe, marigold, and leche de tigre. It was bright, refreshing, and beautifully plated. Our other friend opted for the South Carolina Golden Tilefish, served with Kindlewood Farms summer squash and serrano, and it, too, was a hit. For drinks, one friend enjoyed a glass of wine while I ordered the Dragoon Punch. I'll admit, I was a little disappointed to learn my beloved Primrose Path was no longer on the menu. I even asked if they could make one, but unfortunately they were missing one of the ingredients. No worries, the Dragoon Punch was delicious and a worthy replacement. Our server, Tal H., was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, informative, and guided us through the ever-changing menu with ease. Even though the restaurant was busy, we never felt rushed. I don't have any other she-crab soup to compare it to, but I can say it was absolutely delicious. Consider me a fan. After five days of enjoying Charleston's incredible food scene, we were looking for a lighter lunch since we were planning to splurge later that evening at Halls Chophouse. My wife and I split the southern tomato pie and the chicken salad wrap, and the combination was perfect.
