I heard and read rave reviews of this place, so I was very excited to try it. Bacon Bloody Mary was good, but otherwise I was underwhelmed. The shrimp and grits were bland. Fried green tomatoes were ok. My husband liked his fried chicken and sweet potato waffles but said they were dense and a little bland. We also went to lunch at an off time (3pm-ish) and the staff was transitioning to dinner service, we were pretty much the only ones there. I was a waitress, I don't mind staff chatting and doing their side work, but the staff here was loudly chatting across the restaurant, dancing with each other, hooting, carrying on... I felt that we were in the way and it really detracted from our experience. Overall, I was bummed. read more

On what was turning out to be a culinary tour of Charleston, Eli's Table was a high point. The restaurant was quiet at about 9.45am as we arrived and never got busy. The few other occupants all seemed equally impressed with the standard of fare. We were persuaded to try the sweet potato pancakes - and were glad we did. They were as light as air and made for a delicious side/dessert. Main courses were Lowcountry Benedict (with crispy oyster and wilted spinach) and Shrimp Benedict, over grit cakes. Not being massive fans of grits, it was more than a pleasant surprise to discover how delicious and creamy the cakes were. The Lowcountry version was superb and plates were cleared all round. The atmosphere created by the servers is relaxed and friendly and the restaurant is clean and bright. Nothing bad to say. read more

Had a wonderful experience at Eli's Table! We shared an appetizer and a wonderful bottle of wine recommendes by Dillon. Top notch knowledgeable service and a great smile:-) The tuna tower was smoked for 12 hours and paired with fresh ingredients. This place was not even on my list of places to eat in Charleston, I ended up walking by it to find a place to eat a late lunch, as many other places were not open until later for dinner. Eli's really surprised me. At first I felt a little underdressed, but I noticed others in there in full sweat from the terrible Charleston humidity and casual clothes as well. The staff was very welcoming and sat my friend and I right away. Although I noticed walls needed touch up paint, it was pretty clean. Carey was our waiter and immediately brought us water. He was warm and welcoming, made casual conversation and first got our beverage order, which of course, with as hot as it was, an Ice Cold Beer was the best decision. When he came back he told us about their "Award Winning Fried Green Tomatoes" and really hyped it up. So naturally, when a waiter does that, you have to try it! When it came to the table, it was quite impressive! It was beautiful and SO delicious! So of course he wasn't hyping up a terrible appetizer. The tomatoes were so crispy I couldn't believe it, the sauce paired perfectly with the texture and taste of the Green Tomatoes, but what really made the difference was the Balsamic Vinaigrette drizzled around it! For lunch, I had the Pan-Seared Crab Cakes with corn and a salad. It was... delicate, but full of flavor! The Crab Cakes were fresh and the sauce they came with was something I wanted to dip everything in! I would highly recommend this place for their food! They had a back door open, so it seemed a little hot inside and there were a couple flies that were annoying, but other than that I loved it. read more

Our service was horrible. We were sat down by a very friendly host, and then waited for 15 minutes before we even got any water. Our server rushed us though our orders, and we felt rushed the entire time. Our check was brought out before we were asked if there was anything else that we would like-which we did. Found this place on yelp, the food did not disappoint. It was very hot so we sat inside with the AC. Drinks were also delicious. I ate here with my wife and daughter three days ago. I'm giving this 2 stars only because our waiter was nice. But still only 2 stars for the following reasons (and these go from bad to worst): 1) We had a reservation so got seated pretty quickly but after we placed our order it took a really long time to get our food. That was largely the case for a lot of Charleston during our visit, but the wait nonetheless was really long at over 30 minutes. 2) We all agreed our food was much too salty for such an expensive restaurant. My meal was okay but wife wife and daughter thought their food was not very good. 3) We sat under a moldy looking air conditioning vent in the ceiling and it kept dripping onto our table, including a.drop onto my wife's head and another into her water glass. Not fun. And 4) We had a light breakfast and no lunch that day hoping to be hungry for our dinner at Eli's. Well, my daughter woke up the morning after our meal there feeling terrible and has been vomiting and doing other equally unpleasant things since with what appears to be a bad case of food poisoning! Now, three days later, she is only just starting to feel better. Since she hadn't eaten much anything else all day we think it was the salmon she had at Eli's. Item number 4 we realize is probably a fluke, but even then we were disappointed with our meals and our experience at Eli's. 2 stars. read more

My friend and I are at Eli's Table for brunch when we were in Charleston a few weeks ago. I have been here before and the experience was equally as good. First, the food is delicious. This time I tried the shrimp and grits Benedict. If you are looking for something unique on your visit, this is it. It was quite rich, but so good. I'm sure it was calorie free! Our server was very sweet and attentive. The beignets were delicious they were probably the only good thing about Eli's. We had a wonderful dining experience at Eli's. It was Restaurant Week and they were featuring a 3 for $40 deal (starter, entree and dessert). My husband had the lamb shank with couscous and I had seared pork belly. Both dishes are cooked to perfection. Our server was the best. This place has very high standards when it comes to their guests, too. I noticed a host about to seat a couple at the table next to us when he realized the table setting wasn't perfect. Recommended by the staff at our hotel (The Spectator), Eli's Table provided a wonderful light, mid-afternoon Sunday lunch. The weather was spectacular and being able to sit out back in the pretty courtyard was a plus. The best playlist imaginable for two 50-somethings played at the perfect volume... Pandora Earth Wind and Fire... BeeGees, KC and the Sunshine Band, Barry White, EWF, etc. Awesome. We were having a heavy dinner 4 hours later, so each ordered a salad.... mine was the grilled chicken salad on the menu and my husband's was grilled grouper over a house salad. Both were PHENOMENAL. Frankly, we thought both dishes were better than what we had at Chez Nous or Peninsula Grill, in terms of quality and skill. A very nice culinary surprise and needed respite, after walking the streets for hours. Also of note: The incredibly warm welcome from every employee we encountered as we entered the restaurant. Eli's Table is the place to go for local specialties. Each of the dishes we ordered were delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the decor and music tasteful. Our main complaint was the service was slow (although our waiter did acknowledge this and offered a glass of wine on the house) and particularly that the staff did not adhere to COVID safety measures, hence the lower ratings. Although our waitstaff did wear masks, several did not, including the bartender and some of the kitchen staff, which made us very nervous. read more

Both were very good. The beef was tender and flavorful. It was a large portion and very shareable. It came with the most delicious fries. The beet salad was fresh and the basil ricotta not overpowering. However, IMHO, there was way too much ricotta on the plate. I would have preferred more beets and arugula. read more

And the menu is interesting and even though deliberately focused - hard to make a choice. Started with fried green tomato appetizer. Really nice. Had the special of the day which was a meaty white fish (I cannot remember the name) with a spicy red bean risotto. Very nice as well. All the flavors meshed well together. My favorite brunch place. I always bring my dog and sit outside and they are so nice and bring her water (one time they literally brought her bacon). The drinks are great, I went for brunch on my 21st and they brought me and my friends champagne.
