Purchased the package pictured in February for a trip to NYC in May. Paid for 4 hours of service. I was notified the day before the nail tech was injured and no one else was available but they would 'make it up to us'. Ok, disappointing, but accidents happen, etc. Arrived at the spa. Had to wait while a previous customer complained about their services and charges (Red Flag!). When it was my turn I was told "Oh, we can't do the sugar scrub, we don't have a shower here".....And the massage therapist was late "He always shows up". I was promised a 90 minute massage but didn't get it since he was late and other clients were waiting. The massage was strange - fast and not a lot of pressure. I get massages at home regularly - this was unusual. And, I was dressed and out of the room in exactly 1 hour. I got a facial with 5 mins of microderm abrasion and an excessive use of Kleenex on my face - I was peeling kleenex residue off as we left the building. After those 2 services = 2 hours, the staff argued that the charges still equaled $315 (with tax). The prices on their wall did not add up. "Those just haven't been updated". They called the owner (doesn't live in NYC - I believe they said she was out of state). The owner confirmed and insisted on the same pricing. Can only pay cash or venmo. When I paid cash they couldn't make change until I told them there was NO WAY I was giving a 35% tip. Then they suddenly found some cash. FYI, the same package with the brown sugar scrub is STILL on their website today. Terrible experience. Total scam. read more

Even while they are under renovation, they still do an amazing job and regardless, once they start giving you the deep tissue, you'll see paradise. You won't even realize the renovations. 4 surgeries, 10 years of bodybuilding, approaching my 40th birthday, I'm old and beat up. The deep tissue here is amazing. They also offer some unique treatment--something called an ayurvedic chakra fusion-whatever, I couldn't pronounce it, but it is fantastic, worth the money, and def. a once in a lifetime experience. I know nothing about this stuff, but it had me like spaghetti when I was finished. Finally, pedicures. My feet are terrible. The only attention they get are from my dog who licks them all day. They give amazing pedicures. Not only was the lady brave enough to touch these hoofs, which it was clear she earned her tip, but she made these talons look pretty decent. Try it for yourself. My 8 year old daughter wanted a spa day in NYC, and this day spa was within walking distance of our hotel. I checked with them to make sure that they were okay with doing a mani pedi, hair trim, and deep conditioning treatment on a child, and they were so welcoming. I have been receiving massages and spa services for over 20 years. I am going to go out on a limb and say this is the worst massage I have ever had or will ever have in the future. Why was the place so bad? 1) The booking experience was very positive, and it actually caught me off guard that the service was so poor. The owner was extremely communicative and polite during the booking process. 2) When we arrived for the appointment, we announced that we had 90-minute massage appointments. The woman working at the desk was not one of the employees booked to do the massage, so, in an angry tone, she says, "No, you don't have an appointment for 90-minutes; I am about to go home!" Where is talking to a customer like that, okay? So the other employee chimes in and said, "It's okay; she's not expected to stay someone else is coming." She looks very annoyed. 3) The second massage therapist arrives 20 minutes later, and the first massage therapist sends me into a room to get a massage. The two of them start talking loudly behind the curtain. The second massage therapist says, "Are you going to give her a massage? Why did you send her into your room? I would rather give her a massage than the other one. You give the other one a massage. The first massage therapist agrees to switch and massage my friend. Everything about this encounter was disrespectful. She didn't want to give my friend a massage, and she made that super obvious. I believe we should have walked out then and canceled the whole thing. So, they have me to put my shoes and clothes back on to switch rooms. If they were half as smart as they thought they were, the massage therapist would have switched rooms and kept the argument to themselves, and we wouldn't have known anything. 4) I get this message, which was completely horrible. For the first 11-15 minutes of the massage, she gently took her hand and rubbed it back and forth on my calf and back. I had no idea that was supposed to be the massage. She's constantly drinking water and coughing loudly because she's sick. She doesn't massage my shoulders while I am laying on my stomach. She tells me to sit up on the table. While sitting up, she rubs my shoulders, and it was the most awkward thing. I have never had someone tell me to sit up for a shoulder massage. When it's time for me to roll over, I ask if she has a neck pillow, and she says, "No, sorry, no neck pillow." She awkwardly places my arm across my body in an uncomfortable stretch that made it feel like a muscle in my lower back was being pulled. She applied little to no pressure on my muscles, but when she massaged the more sensitive parts of my body, like my inner thigh, she pressed her knuckles into it, which hurt badly. I thought there was no way she would do this twice. She did the same exact thing to my left side that I complained hurt on my right side. Why would anyone put so much pressure between bones and on softer tissue with less muscle but gently rub the muscle portion of the body? I tipped, we left without complaining and I was grateful that the massage was over. The next day bruises started forming on my inner and outer thigh areas. I have never had a massage this terrible in my life. Anything that she could have possibly done wrong she did. I would never try this place again. From the weak massage to the overly aggressive knuckling of my legs and bones on top of my feet, this place is a hard and firm NO for me! read more

I hate to write this review at less than 5 stars because I really think this is a great spa, staffed by great people, using terrible products. The space itself is wide open and inviting, with large windows and a large floor plan for the manicure and hair stations. The pedicure area is a notch in the hallway and there are private rooms further back for massages and waxing. The music is calming. I got a regular French mani-pedi for the Groupon price (I opted for French rather than a gel manicure, price wise). I called for an appointment and got one for the next day at 11:00am. It was just Nancy and I for about an hour. She was friendly, an expert at nail care, and gave a wonderful pedicure massage. I would bet serious money her massages are to die for. Among other things, I asked for thicker white tips and she delivered. She's also a workhouse, so you'll likely see her if you go - I'd ask for Nancy specifically! She's a rockstar! At the end, my thumb had a bubble on it and even though they became slammed, Nancy fixed it very quickly and it looked amazing. That I felt comfortable asking her to look at it alone speaks to how good her customer service skills are. The workers all understand English very well and can communicate about the services and pricing. They have a regular VIP program where I'm guessing you can earn free or discounted services. UNFORTUNATELY, not even two hours later, after doing absolutely nothing except taking the subway home and sitting on a couch, four of my nails were chipping at the tips or even in the center. Nancy had used a strong top coat, we dried them for 20+ minutes, and she used a finishing spray, so I know they were taken care of to the best of her ability. For $65, I was really unhappy with this development. I called the next day and was able to get in to have them fixed. The manager was very sweet about it. However, the fixing was... okay. (I really appreciate the technician for staying to do it despite leaving 20 minutes late as a result, though.) And my nails were all chipping after another day even after they had been fixed. Again, for $65 - now $71 with the extra subway there and back - a manicure should last AT LEAST a week, even if it's not gel. I was told I would receive a $5 off coupon which I did not, but I don't mind because unfortunately the prices are just too high for me to swing when I can't trust that I'll even get a day without my nails being ruined. I'm guessing the gel polish is much more worth it, which I would have done but couldn't justify the extra cost to get French tips. [[looking back, it would have been pretty much the same since I had to subway there and back to get the regular fixed... sigh.]] PROS: Nancy is a nail care expert and an asset to any company. You feel pampered here. The atmosphere is clean, open, and relaxing. The staff and management are friendly and knowledgeable. The pedicure is phenomenal. Sterile, clean tools. Great late hours for after-work treats. CONS: Pricier than other spa and nail treatments you'll find in the city, but not terrible for midtown, extra charge for cards, absolutely horrible regular nail polish that chips within two hours of manicure. read more

I was unhappy with the services. I called Mara and asked if they did silk wrap an she told me yes. When I called the night before to ask for the address, she told me they had to cancel because they didn't have all the product. I asked her why did she not call me because it takes me 1.5 hrs to get there from the Bronx. then I made an appointment that I had to cancel and called with enough time. I called again and we made an appointment for Wednesday. I happened to call Tuesday night because I lost the paper with the address and she said that the person did not know that Nancy, the one who apparently was an expert at doing silk wrap, doesn't work that day. So we made it for Thursday. After traveling for 1.5 hrs I got there and I asked the girl at the front desk that I have an appointment for my silk wrap and if she is the girl that will be doing it. She tells me that she told her boss that she isn't comfortable doing a whole set. She can only do a few nails because it takes her to long. I told her that I didn't understand what she was talking about. I called Mara and she told me that she can do it that she has confidence that she can do it. I told Mara that she didn't want to them. Mara then tells me that she will be there at 11.15 and the other person, the one that didn't do them that well will do my nails. I was very angry. I told Nancy if she could at least fix the four nail that needed fixing since she was only comfortable doing a couple at a time and she said ok. That is when I turn around and noticed that the chair for the pedicare was a chair like a lazy boy and then she put out a big bin for my feet. I told her what happened to a chair that has massage and she said that they didn't have one. Ok so now I'm getting my nails done and when we go to get the color I get one for the gel, which I never did because I've been doing silk wrap for 17 years, and a matching color for my toes. Nancy is there with me. As soon as she finishes my nails I get up to go to the chair and she tells me that she can't do my feet because she has another appointment at 12. I told her that I wasn't leaving without getting my feet done. At this time, I realize that she took so much time with my nails that I really didn't have time to do my feet. I told her that she needed to just clean my feet and change the polish. By the way, I didn't mention that I had to wake up at 7.30 am to get there at 10.15 because I live so far away. Then she wanted to charge me $25 to soak and I told her that it only takes about 10 minutes. She said that it would take about 45 mins. When I got there I showed her how to take it out in 10 minutes. When Mara got there she offered a bag of brownie brittle. I told her that I didn't want anything but a discount for the bad service and if she didn't I was just going to walk out without paying. She charged me only 10 for the soak and only silk fo 3 nails. I did tip Nancy because she was not at fault. I always give reviews because I think that it's important for a business. Unfortunately, I had to knock off a few stars because of how the manicure and pedicure held up. I received a special as a new customer. $59 for a gel manicure and regular pedicure including taxes. It's $10 to remove existing gel, and $0 if you come back as a repeat customer. They said if I were to return, I would be able to receive the same special on Mondays and Tuesdays. For those of you who work in the area, you would know that this is great price point! Which is why I was so bummed at the end result. My last nail place was $55 including a gel removal and my gel mani would last 2-3 weeks just growing out. My new favorite place! I've been getting powder acrylics for ages! I was in desperate need for a fill-in but it is nearly impossible to get powder acrylics in the city so I was not too shocked when they said they didn't offer them here. I decided to go and just try the gel shellac in stead as my nails were already a decent length from the acrylics. I was able to walk in and get taken care of right away. The lady soaked my nails to get the acrylics off and worked so hard (I felt absolutely terrible) filing and soaking to get them off without any pain. I've ripped my acrylics off before and was honestly about to offer to do that but she was smiling and happy throughout the whole tedious and gruesome process lol. She did such a wonderful job on my nails I could not be happier! I workout and lmao volleyball everyday and over a week later they are still in PERFECT condition! I literally cannot wait to go back but with this quality it may be another week or two! Really liked this place at first. Nice and quiet, with good deals and friendly employees. However, upon my second visit today I was very disappointed. The nail tech made me bleed (happened my first time too with a different person) and didn't shape them super well. Then, when I presented my card with a deal that I had been given last time, the person managing told me that deal didn't exist and charged me $20 more. She then was rude to the nail tech who gave me the coupon and chastised her in front of the entire salon for writing something down wrong. Not happy with not the deal I was given not being honored and not happy with how my nails turned out...so will not return. read more

I had an amazing experience at Elite Day Spa with a gel manicure from Kako. I called from about 10 minutes away and they told me they could see me, and were there waiting as I came out of the elevator, having remembered our conversation. They were also happy to honor the Groupon special, which I love, since I'd rather pay the business itself than have a percentage go to Groupon. I got a simple gel manicure from Kako. She was attentive and kind, working with me to figure out what length I wanted my nails, and very carefully going over my cuticles so as not to have to cut them. Her attention to detail is phenomenal. I was happy to sit quietly at first, but then our conversation picked up towards the end of the appointment and it was delightful. I also have to confess, I overheard Ariel discussing a scheduling snafu with a disappointed client. She handled it beautifully and respectfully, which I find is rare at any operation in this neighborhood, and in the city in general. I gained even more respect for this business based on my eavesdropping. I will absolutely be going back to Elite for the detailed technicians and generous customer service. Thank you! read more
