Kenta Bond, the owner of this shop is a man of high integrity. He also is a master of customer service. I call him a dinosaur because, even though he is a rather young person, he provides "old time" customer service. His pricing is extremely competitive - better than many - and he truly cares about his customers. The other day he stayed late to make sure my car repair was complete. It was not a simple repair. The car needed an axle. The parts supply house was very late getting him the needed part so Mr. Bond actually got in his car and went to the supply house and picked up the part himself. That pushed the repair completion time back. However, Mr. Bond stayed about an hour past usual closing time to get the job done for me. He does high quality work and is an absolute pleasure to deal with. Please help support this small local business. He needs the support far more than the big chain repair shops in the area and his price markups are far less than theirs!

In addition to doing a great job replacing my vehicle's oil, they also replaced my corroded battery. While replacing the corroded battery, one of the bolts snapped off, which was no fault of their own. Because the bolt was a special Honda part and was needed to install the new battery (making it so I was unable to leave without it), member of their team had to drive to 3 different auto parts stores to find the specific bolt to get my vehicle up and running again. This put them almost 2 hours post closing time. The whole time they were really kind hearted about it, had an amazing attitude, and were telling me jokes to help the time pass by while we waited for their team member to find the part, purchase it, and bring it back. I was really blown away by the level of customer service - you really hardly ever see it as this extraordinary level. I then returned a few days later to complete an inspection, and that process was also amazing and painless. I recommend this Valvoline to anyone and everyone. These guys should receive a huge award!

District Manager (Rich) said he'd get back to me on this request (within the day) but it's been almost 3 weeks, and I have heard nothing from him. As we were loading into our cars Monday morning my wife got a call saying that the only person who could do inspections that day (in an hour, no less) had called in and we had to cancel. We had rearranged our schedule to drop her car off so it was very inconvenient. After talking on the phone with them later in the week, we rescheduled for the next Monday morning. The Sunday before, we were dropping off the car when an employee came out and told us that they didn't do NYS inspections on Mondays. Huh? We had booked an appointment with a real person there and they screwed it up again? We were literally seconds from dropping the keys off through the door and leaving. We were told they fired someone and that was the cause of the problem. But TWICE we had planned our schedules to drop off her car and twice were were given VERY last minute cancellations. I don't know what to say, except don't come here for inspections on Mondays even if they tell you they will do them. I am very disappointed in this place.

I had called the "local" number and spoke to a man about a state inspection for my truck. He told me (at 10:30 AM) that his inspection guy was there till 12. I said I could be there in 15 to 20 minutes. would that be OK. He said yes, and there was currently a 20 minute wait. I asked him if he was actually at the location, because it sounded like a call center. He said yes this is the Maple Avenue location. He was lying and I wasted my time going there because when I arrived, I was told there was no one available that day to do inspections, and they had not received any calls yet that day. Thank God I didn't drive a half hour to get there, and was able to go to Jiffy Lube to get my inspection. I will never use Valvoline again.

The owner Timm Baldauf, however, told me that you usually need to call for an appointment a week ahead. Second problem. OK, I came back in a week. Left the car with them. They charged me for the repairs I did not authorize: rotating tires, replacing cabin filter and engine air filter - for the total of $150. They also charged me $174 for the just "diagnosis" of engine light, which takes all of 5 minutes. The owner Timm Baldauf claimed it takes him 1.5 hours to "diagnose" engine light. Third problem. They still did not repair the exhaust shield. In the beginning, they could not find the place where it fell off. Then they found the place, but could not repair it the same day. They told me they will give me a quote next day, but never called. A day later, when I called them to ask about the overcharging, they still did not know the price of the exhaust shield. The owner Timm Baldauf claimed, "he is waiting for the quote from Toyota"; I think he was lying because nowadays you can get the price online in minutes. After my request conversation, Timm Baldauf agreed to refund $100 in unauthorized repairs but refused to refund $174 for the "diagnosis" of the engine light claiming this to be the correct charge because it takes him 1.5 hour at $115 to diagnose the engine light.

I called the next day and Kirby, the mastermind, asked me all sorts of questions about it. He did a thorough inspection and got back to me with all of the apparent problems, possible problems, and the costs the very next day. And even though I ended up junking the car, they never charged me for the inspection. Once you go to Advanced Auto Repair, you can't go back. They're a breath of fresh air in service most people don't trust. Kudos! Five stars.
