I wanted to leave an honest review regarding the kids club/daycare experience at the Vista location…read moreof LA Fitness. One evening when I went to pick up my 2-year-old daughter, I saw a male employee walking out of the daycare area. He was not carrying custodial equipment or anything identifying him as maintenance staff, which immediately concerned me because when I originally signed up, I specifically asked whether anyone besides the childcare workers entered the daycare area and was told no. When I walked in, one of the daycare workers looked visibly startled, and when I asked where my daughter was, she initially believed my daughter was cornered behind large play equipment with an older boy significantly bigger and older than her. Thankfully, my daughter was actually under the front desk near the computer/wiring area, which raised a completely separate safety concern. This situation alone made me uncomfortable with the level of supervision happening in the childcare room. There are often only two workers present with multiple children of very different ages, and the environment can feel chaotic and understaffed. After this experience, my daughter became extremely distressed whenever I mentioned going to the gym. She went from adjusting normally to refusing to enter and having major tantrums before we even left the house. As a mother, that change was alarming to me. I later called management to express my concerns and was told the male employee was "most likely custodial," but again, he was not visibly performing custodial work when I saw him leaving the daycare area. I also had issues with misinformation regarding my membership. I was specifically told during signup that I would have access to multiple locations, including Oceanside. I successfully used the Oceanside location once, but later was told my membership was restricted and then was immediately pitched an upgraded membership during a promotion. That experience felt misleading and frustrating. At the end of the day, this is a very low-cost gym membership, and the childcare reflects that reality. Parents should simply understand what they are signing up for and have realistic expectations regarding supervision and staffing levels. Personally, after my experience, I would not recommend this childcare setup for very young children who cannot fully communicate or advocate for themselves yet.
