I normally do not write negative reviews about dealerships or businesses, but in this case, I feel compelled to share my experience. Like many people, I have gone through some difficult life circumstances, including a divorce and an active Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Over time, I received multiple advertisements from Kunes claiming they specialize in helping customers with previous or ongoing bankruptcies obtain vehicle financing. Based on those advertisements, I decided to contact them and schedule a visit. Before going to the dealership, I clearly explained my expectations and financial situation. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. The vehicle they presented was a used Nissan priced at approximately $24,000. They informed me that I would need to put down $8,000 and make monthly payments of around $1,200. I found those terms completely unrealistic and far outside what I had discussed beforehand. I was also told that I only had a couple of vehicle options available to me, despite the dealership having many vehicles on the lot. The entire experience felt like a waste of time, especially considering the dealership markets itself as a specialist for individuals dealing with bankruptcy. Afterward, I contacted my bankruptcy attorney, who suggested that I explore other dealerships in the greater Milwaukee area. I followed that advice and reached out to CarMax in Waukesha. The difference was night and day. Their team quickly located a vehicle within their extensive inventory and arranged to have it shipped from Indiana to Wisconsin. I ultimately purchased a fully loaded 2024 Hyundai Tucson that I absolutely love. The vehicle was much newer and in excellent condition. Even better, I only needed to put down $551, and my monthly payment is approximately $651. While the interest rate is higher than I would prefer, the financing terms were far more reasonable than what I was offered elsewhere. What bothered me most about my experience with Kunes was not just the proposed financing terms, but how I felt treated throughout the process. I often felt like a second-class customer because of my bankruptcy status. Calls were not returned promptly, and I was told that customers with stronger credit profiles required more immediate attention. Whether intended or not, it left me feeling dismissed and undervalued. My advice to anyone in a similar financial situation is to shop around and explore every available option before signing anything. My personal experience with Kunes was frustrating, time-consuming, and disappointing. In contrast, CarMax provided a professional, respectful, and efficient buying experience that resulted in a vehicle and payment plan that worked for my situation. Everyone's experience may differ, but based on my own experience, I would not recommend Kunes to individuals dealing with bankruptcy or credit challenges. read more

My friend bought a 2025 Jeep Sahara 4XE recently. She didn't know that you had to plug in the hybrid. When we looked for the charging cord, it was missing. My friend went to talk to the sales rep, Jeremiah, and he lied about it not being included with the vehicle. The cord is standard equipment for all 4XE vehicles-a simple search on the internet is all that's required to find this out. Even the sales manager came out and repeated the lie! Meanwhile, her battery is at less than 1% and is affecting the operation of the vehicle. They sent her on a wild goose chase to NAPA to try and get a charging cord. Instead of being customer oriented and helping her solve this problem, they gave her a line and sent her on her way. It is utterly shameful that these people play games with Greg Kunes' integrity. I sincerely hope Mr. Kunes reads this review and finds out the nonsense that his employees are doing in his name. read more

Explained my situation to salesman. Was assured he would help us. When I test drove the vehicle, I mentioned an issue in the front end. He blew it off as rust on the rotors. I brought this to his attention three times. Ended up having to take it in and the rotors were warped. What a joke. He lied right to my face. My experience with Kunes in Elkhorn was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Despite confirming my appointment over 10 times via text, the last one being 15 min before I arrived, the vehicle I came to see was not even on the lot--it had been loaned out. To make matters worse, the online price was not accurate, and they initially attempted to charge me an additional $2,000. When they ultimately "honored" the posted price, it was presented as though they were doing me a favor. The salesman I worked with, Luis, was rude and condescending throughout the process. The sales manager, Andrew, in contrast, seemed polite and accommodating at first. However, once the sale was completed, I never heard from him again despite multiple attempts to follow up. I had to request several versions of quotes because they repeatedly tried to sneak in extra charges (theft protection) falsely claiming they were required. The vehicle was brought to me as a courtesy (though this was used against me later on) as I had not been able to see it at my appointment. It was filthy, missing mats and a key fob and the staff who delivered it had not even been told that I would be test-driving it. On top of that, the sales contract contained the wrong amount three separate times, trying to include the theft protection. This forced me to make over a dozen calls in a single hour to Luis just to correct his continuous mistakes. This dealership treated me unprofessionally and demonstrated little honesty or competence. After the sale, communication was nearly impossible. There are already several reviews online warning people to stay away from this dealership for these exact issues, and unfortunately, they are absolutely true. Hands down the most unpleasant sales experience I have been involved with. read more

This is the most unprofessional used car business that I have ever come across! The sales person ( Matt) lied to me on several occasion's. First, i was tol that the car had been serviced just like All the inventory that was available and had previously had an oil change. Absolutely everything works he says. Well, two days after purchase when I finally figured out how to access all the vehicles information that is stored vis the console, the oil life was 8%. The keyless start has never worked! The rear tires sensors were not even connected. Furthermore, I have not been contacted by the company one time after I was told by the GM Jesse and the finance person Teala to do anything. I even offered to work for them and was told that my application would get an honest review because I told Jesse that his staff were all sitting around instead of cold calling and just waiting for people to stumble in. Unprofessional!!! I was told that I could not trade the vehicle for another unless I started over and would be about 4 grand upside down even though I paid a $1000 downpayment on a $12250 car (2018) Chevrolet Traverse. The gm never gave my resume a chance. I served this country for 19 years with multiple tours of combat in Afganist and Iraq. This company is evidently made up of crooks and liars who only care about a buck! Overall, it's a nice place, but I had a less-than-ideal experience. I found a car online for my daughter and called to inquire. The price was a bit higher than she wanted, so I asked for the best price. I was told the online price was fixed but that they could assist better if I came in person. I scheduled an appointment and, leading up to it, received 6 text messages and 3 phone calls. When I arrived on time, I was told the car was in the detailing bay having a crack fixed, and I could see it in three hours. As a trucker, I was exhausted from driving all night and couldn't wait that long. To make matters worse, the price in person was the same as it was online. If I had known this beforehand, I could've discussed it with my daughter and possibly purchased it right then. Now, I'll be away for a couple of weeks, and if she's still interested, the car may be sold. My suggestion would be to be upfront about the price over the phone and avoid having the vehicle in the shop during the customer's appointment time. Follow up: Kunes responded to my post asking to contact them to further discuss the issus. I responded to the email provided and never heard from them again. Apparently the response to my post was just to create the appearance that they care. read more

Be advised of the offers of extended warranty, do not take warranty and then try to cancel. Once you have paid the warranty, the bank will not refund the money. This is a warning for out of states buyers to look elsewhere. Like a lot of dealerships these guys try and sneak junk into deals. They tell you things like DealerDoc is required when it's not federally required. All these system are designed to take more money out of your pocket with the promise of returning it. They also employ the old school tactics of dragging feet and wearing you down, so that you'll jump into a bad deal. Specifically this dealer was unable to verify whether a truck was damaged in a recent hail storm. They weren't willing to sign legal documents saying the truck wasn't involved and damaged. So I love the car. BUT. They said they did detailing, there were these very visible stains that I could start to get out with a literal hand wipe. I am a young adult, I don't know if it was that, the fact that I'm female, or something else, but Chad treated me like I was irrelevant. I ended up having to go back due to a check engine light from mainly a cylinder misfire. This time Chad was flat out rude. Only good thing was Kim from service. She was wonderful. I bought a '16 GMC SIERRA 1500 with 120K miles here a week ago and the battery goes out a few days later. I replace it because I'm told the warranty does not cover battery replacements. After a few days of giving it some thought and after consulting with my family, I decide to seek a refund for something that should have been caught before it was sold or at least recompensed for. After speaking to the General Manager, Jesse Jaramillo, the guy dares to lie and say that initially I stated the battery was $100, and he could not refund entirely and that I should've spoke up a bit sooner and he would've got me a battery for $100 and better. Claiming the price I paid was too much (a trained mind would recognize that's a lie). And then offers a 60% refund and an oil change. If he can offer me $100 battery and an oil change worth $100 he could fulfill my battery refund request of $160 - negotiation was done when I signed the contract. The critical battery is not a negotiation matter. I will be escalating the issue to corporate and filing a complaint with the BBB until this is resolved according to the customer standard and NOT Mr. Jesse's. Now I know part of the reason for the lack of 5 stars at this place, and I'm just getting started. After working a few minutes with this guy, it's easy to confuse him for a grumpy old salesperson, I didn't recognize the GENERAL MANAGER in him. I was already manipulated by the Finance lady and the total loan amount I agreed to, and choose the path of peace and let that one go (I made a verbal agreement of 23k and signed for 27k because I was told that's what's she told me when she didn't). I didn't expect that to continue up top. I guess surprises come in many different ways in todays world. It was too good to be true. I'm not a guy that loves to toyed with. Despising of my youth is the last thing they should've done. To whom it may concern, please sit down with the above mentioned, listen in on the recorded lines, from the purchase date to the phone call yesterday, December 7th and the emails, and let them know what their mistake was and what should be expected next time. But please let that happen after I'm refunded the $160, until then this review (and Apple Maps and YELP) and my complaint with the BBB will NOT be removed. I'm tired of this kind of treatment. I brought my car in for an inspection to have fluids checks, breaks, transmission, hoses, tires, breaks. Your typical yearly. I was told all looked good but that I would soon need to have breaks replaced for $900. . They were rated a 3, so he said. I asked what the 3 meant and he stated the breaks were 1/2 way through their life. . I was told this inspection would cost $129. I proceed to have to pay a $165 bill due to a credit card usage fee, an admin fee and of course tax. I proceeded out of the service center with my paperwork, reviewed it in my car and went back into the service station because the transmission portion of the inspection wasn't checked off. The service writer asked the service tech if he check the transmission fluid, and he said yes. A week later I went to Jiffy Lube because my car was starting to jerk and hesitate only to find out that the transmission dipstick didn't register any fluid on it. So, the service guy at Kunes Chevy never checked my transmission oil. Very frustrating! Unfortunately, I will not return. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. My partner & I found a Ford Limited F-150 last night online at this dealership. We called ahead this morning to confirm it's availability, we get the word it's a go. My partner takes the day off, We leave the house right away and make the 2 hour trek it takes to get here. The truck is pulled up for us, we are told all vehicles go through a "125 point inspection" we get in the truck and we notice it wasn't driving correctly and had major lag between Pressing the petal and acceleration, also did I mention the check engine light was on? This should been caught in your "125 point" Inspection or at a minimum when it was pulled around for us. They said it could be the cam or timing chain or nothing at all, so they planned to reset the check engine light ((((ALARMING)))) Anyway we are understanding and even pivot to other options since we are there and Emma our sales girl was so polite. We end up finding a Raptor within the dealership at a satellite lot a few minutes away. I inform them we're not going to be buyers at the asking pricing but we're very interested. Emma speaks to the GM Jessie, they tell us to go get food and take the Raptor, they would have something worked out when we got back. We come back & we're greeted with Jessie hitting us with "are we ready to sign papers" he NEVER came up with any kind of deal or offer and here we are again having our time WASTED. He attempted to inform me that he wasn't coming down that this truck was the best priced in the market nationwide. I let him know that actually I have found a handful with 1/2 the miles for less money, so once again I wasn't interested in making a deal at the current price. HERES WHERE IT GETS EVEN MORE SLIMY, He runs off and prints "comparable cars" he bold faced told us these are similar trucks at auction meaning at their cost before delivery, inspection and repair he said "in the auction right now" he hands us a sheet with www.VAuto.com this is a dealership CRM used to help sell cars!!! These trucks are in fact not comparable at auction trucks. Emma & Jessie try to convince me that pricing on car gurus wouldn't actually be the pricing when you get there upon arrival, " That that almost never happens" when in fact I have bought several cars from finding them off of car gurus from the dealership at the same listed price. The lies, the no apologies for wasting our time, day, gas & trouble to get there was alarming. NOTHING WAS DONE to make things right. We were more than fair and open minded to pivoting in to other trucks but was met with nothing more than LIES, TIME WASTING, SKETCHY & STRANGE sales tactics. Think of buying a car from Matilda's dad & that was Jessie the GM. Also have another mechanic look at the vehicle before you commit to purchase, we noticed several mechanical issues in the vehicles we drove that should've been spotted in the "inspections." Also asked for a carfax report and they gave us an auto check report not the same thing and auto check doesn't have as accurate reports. read more

FIRST OFF DONT GO HERE I PROMISE YOU WILL REGRET IT, My husband and I had filled out all paperwork needed for credit checks and what not needed to buy a car prior to going to our appointment to be approved and we had been in contact with the person we were having our meeting with days prier and he kept saying "everything is good, you are approved for this this and that, just come in to test drive and you will leave with the truck you want!" (filled out everything again when we arrived) We drove an hour to meet with some man who first off smelled like a teenage boy and who didn't even sit by us for 5 mins periods because he kept getting up due to helping another woman at the same time while other salespeople stood around cracking jokes with each other. finally, after 2 hours he comes back and says "here let's go grab a car for you" at this point we were DONE! We asked for our car key back since he was using our car as a trade, and he walked away not saying a word. 10mins later at woman comes out talking about how we needed to come back when we get our taxes (WHILE THE GUY WAS BEHIND THE COUNTER NOT GIVING US OUR KEY BACK) we kept saying we wanted to leave but they wouldn't give us our key back or stop talking! Thankfully my friend called me telling me to go to her car guy and within an hour we walked out with a new GMC Denali! read more

They always had some excuse. Never heard back. The Jeep smells like cigarette smoke and I was concerned about that. Terrible customer service. It is such a shame because it's a local business for me. Took my vehicle in to get an estimate on changing the water pump out due to it leaking coolant. Waited a reasonable amount of time till I heard back from the Service Rep. , somehow they priced the 4 hours of labor and parts at 1,200 dollars. Didn't really trust that considering the GM part cost 1/6th of what they were charging me, took it for a second estimate to a competitor and it was priced at 550 dollars, not really sure where they got 1,200 dollars for a water pump replacement. I should also mention they tried to charged me an 80 dollar diagnostic fee, which I had to argue and confront the Service Rep. about since I had told them the issue before hand and really just needed an estimate. Obviously trying to nickel and dime you. They ended up waiving it at least. All in all, take your car somewhere else if you need a service or a differently managed dealership where they actually have competition and don't try to steal from you. read more

the sales man that helped me name was Michael and i admit I came when they were closing so I explain to him that I already had one car note and that I can only afford a certain amount of money so he told me that my car now would be 300 and something dollars a month and I said OK so when I called the credit union to find out how much the payment was, they told me that my payment was $775 a month and I'm already paying $305 for another vehicle plus $1295 a month in rent plus my phone bill line gas bill cable bill car insurance $275 a month gas in my truck back-and-forth to work $$275 a month $500 a month in food plus paying off my credit cards and not only that then I had the nerve to put my interest rate at 20.2% that is very high. I wouldn't suggest anybody to get a car from them because they are lying in your face, I am it I did not read majority of the paperwork because he was rushing me, and I'm not gonna lie. just so everybody that reads this knows the 1 star is given only because I couldn't give them zero.. here is the story on how we got totally ripped off by this dealer. my nephew goes in to look at a Subaru WRX and is pressured to buy it that night, his trade is not running with a bad clutch but according to the salesman, no problem "well pick it up" so they have pictures of the car and they are fully aware it needs a clutch. they give him a price and we make the deal. the day after he gets it, the check engine light is on. the dealer sends a wrecker to pick up his trade, and he tells them the check engine light is on . so they tell us to come back to the dealer, we are then told that they can't accept the trade because the car needs to much work. in the mean time, they can't figure out what's wrong with the car he bought so they say we are stuck with it. the genius of a sales manager tell's us to "just let the bank repossess it" so I called the general manager who tells me "we can't take that car in trade because it's Modified " I asked him if he was aware that car he sold us was more modified than the car we traded in. he had no credible answer. so finally I did get my deposit back ( I was the co signer for loan) they brought his car back ( and after their pick up driver delivered it back did more damage to the front spoiler) lost a key and kept the plates. also I asked for the original sales contract and I was told that they had deleted it. what they did was criminal, they were in such a hurry to sell the car, they appraised the car too high, and when they underestimated the repair costs, they tried to cover their ass, and the car they tried to sell us wasn't even inspected and it would have cost them too much to fix. in 39 years of buying cars, in my opinion, this place is a good place to avoid read more

I've been a customer since I purchased my 2002 trailblazer new. Service was always good and thought out. Continued to take my newer envoy there for service even though I didn't purchase there. After getting spark plugs changed and rear door handles replaced for $1500.00 I was content until it rained. The car started miss firing and running terrible. I took it back in and was told I would need six new coils and thermostat for additional 1k. Something didn't feel right so I picked up and took apart in my garage. The fifth coil was full of water since the coil pack was not tightened down all the way after changing out the spark plugs. Too make it more insulting I realized my plugs had been changed out the previous year and were also probably fine. Ugh. Car is running great after I dried out the coil area. Use caution and a bit of common sense when using any service department. The guys at the desk are solid, but they are not the ones wrenching on your vehicle. read more

This is one of the worst experiences I have had purchasing a vehicle. I purchased the 2017 vehicle on 3/3/23, and not even 6 weeks later I have had to pay $2500 out of pocket for major repairs. When speaking to the manager he was very condescending and told me "Well you were offered a warranty, so I don't know what you want me to do"? The repairs needed for the vehicle were existing issues that the dealership chose not to repair prior to sale, knowing they were selling a car with flawed parts. Having a technician assess, the vehicle, the repairs were preexisting issues prior to purchasing. Serpentine belt, spark plugs, and catalytic converter all conveniently malfunction at the same time?! For spending $19,000 CASH on the vehicle, you would expect to have something that is more reliable than what I now have. And like most car salesmen, nice as can be when trying to make a sale, soon as they do could care less about anything you have to say. Putting your faith in someone to sell you a decent car for a fairly high cost was apparently not the right choice made at Kune's. VERY DISAPPOINTED with Kune's and the vehicle I now have. read more

I looked at the web site again and saw the car was at another dealership 200 miles away. How could he have it ready to test drive in an hour? Obviously, this dealership is a bunch of crooks. Just for the hell of it, I chatted with a representative on the web site and he gave me the same line of shit, come in and see a car that's not here. I found the exact white Trailblazer on the Kunes website, called to find that it was actually available! Drove down immediately to find out that it was at another Kunes location. Karl took care of getting it immediately, way over the top service!!! Fell in love with the car, made the purchase with Karl's help and others at the dealership.
