    Double cheeseburger and fries

I was working in Wheatland for a week and I'm so glad that I decided to try Elkins. The ordering was fast and the burgers were good! I must say that the coated fries were especially delicious! I sat in the dining room where music was playing and some local kids were having conversation. The buns were fresh and also the lettuce, tomatoes , onions and pickles, I did get a double cheeseburger, I now know why the outside sign says," best burger in town" I would have to agree! Very friendly folks that are working here Next time I'm in Wheatland, I'll look forward to eating here again! Highly recommend

Hair and not a care in the world

I'm taking the time to update this review. Since the last review I swore I'd never eat here again but tonight it got the vote from family we had in town and the difference is night and day from what it used to be. The quality is a complete 180 and it seems there's finally some actual customer service. Definitely will be going back

Chocolate shake in front of Elkin's Frosty banner outside the restaurant.

Kept it simple... ordered their standard cheeseburger (add onions) with fries, and a chocolate shake. The cheeseburger tasted great and the roll was nice and soft/fresh. Fries were decent too. The chocolate shake was absolutely amazing. If I drove by here on a regular basis I'd be stopping by to get one all the time. Friendly staff and a great experience with the food and shake.

FOOD - Pastrami Burger: cheeseburger with pastrami. The burger was good except the cheese was a little burnt. The burger was pretty big. 3.5/5 SERVICE: The young lady who took our order was friendly. Though service was a little slow even though there was only one other family dining. 3/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would come back to try other items.

We let him know it was our first time there, and he made us feel welcome. I got the cheeseburger and really enjoyed it. I especially liked the Hawaiian roll bun. I was worried it might be overwhelmingly sweet, but it wasn't at all. The sweet pickles were also a nice touch. My husband got the Swole' Chick breakfast burrito, which has a whopping 80g of protein! He enjoyed it, although it wasn't his favorite thing we ordered. The fries, though--SO good. The regular fries were crispy, stood up instead of being limp or soggy, and had the perfect amount of salt. We also tried the chili cheese fries and those were bomb! I thought the prices were very reasonable for the portions and quality. The cheeseburger was $11.99, the Swole' Chick was $14.99, regular fries were $3.99, and the chili cheese fries were $7.49. We definitely got a good amount of food for what we paid. There's plenty of seating inside and a bar at the front. My only real complaint was the fountain drinks. They don't carry Coke or Pepsi products and instead have RC Cola, which I had never tried before. I'd heard it was supposed to taste similar to Coke or Pepsi, but to me it oddly tasted more like root beer. The diet Dr Pepper was also out--it came out extremely light brown and mostly water. The ice machine also ran out of ice while we were there, but when we mentioned it to Joe, he immediately came over and refilled it, which I appreciated. Overall, we had a good first experience. The food was really good, prices were reasonable, and Joe was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The fountain drink situation could definitely use some improvement, but the food--especially those fries--would bring us back!

I won't go there the hour before they close anymore because the staff that works that shift gives off an energy like you are in their way of going home. They put the catsup and mustard bottles away AN HOUR before close! When I ask for ketsup, they tell me to get it from the fridge myself! LOL It reminds me of the 'no soup for you' episode , but not quite that bad. I went there yesterday for lunch and the check out girl forgot to give me my cup for my combo and just goes and fills some sauce cups and it broke and spilled everywhere, all the while, I'm still waiting for my cup, I ask the other lady who's doing all the work and she said 'sorry, here you go'. I had to wait 10 minutes for 1 polish hotdog. And it wasn't busy. The guy behind me got his dog before me. I have no idea who all these hot dogs were going to cuz I didn't see them get served, just cooked. I didn't know it takes 10 minutes to make 1 hot dog! They have their work Flo messed up. One persons doing all the work making the food and the other person is a dumbass not doing anything useful. Then you bite into the hot dog and the anger goes down and you remember why you went there. It would be nice if they made the cheese melt on the hot dog though, not just stay unmelted, it's not quite the same experience. They really need to do some training on customer service and workflow and put their ketsup away 10 minutes before close. If you can have patients to deal with all that, the dogs are good. I like the decor, but sometimes, I get so annoyed with the lack of customer service, I eat outside just to separate myself from them! LOL

John and his team have your hot dogs covered for your dining pleasure in western Placer County. It's mid afternoon, Saturday, June 07, 2025, and I'm enjoying the Rocklin Brewfest 2025 and I'm in the mood for a delicious hot dog. I've come to the right place, as Doggiestyle Hot Dogs was on site, and serving hot dogs for all to enjoy. This is a pop-up restaurant that servers hot dogs at events all over western Placer County. I went with a "Quarter Pound Nathan Dog," How can you beat that for a great hot dog? The dog began with a quarter pound Nathan's Hot Dog, which was grilled to perfection by hot dog chef John, on site, at the Rocklin Brewfest. The dog was simply perfect, and fitted perfectly with the large, fresh bun, which was a start for an amazing lunch. On to the condiments! The trip to the nearby condiment bar was worthwhile, as I added a cornucopia of condiments, including mustard, mayonnaise, dill pickle relish, chopped white onion, sauerkraut and especially peperoncini, which is a rare treat for hot dogs. I suppose you could call my hot dog loaded? No ketchup whatsoever, as I never desecrate a hot dog by adding ketchup. Not to mention... may I say my dog was loaded with delicious condiments? One bite into the dog I was rewarded with a refreshing "snap," thanks to the natural casing on Nathan's Hot Dog, which made the hot dog both worthwhile and simply delicious. The condiments I added simply enhanced the dog, and didn't take anything away from the amazing hot dog, and the fresh bun. Such a delicious hot dog! Chef John knows how to grill a hot dog, and the Nathan's Hot Dog he grills are as good as it gets. I tip my cowboy hat to chef John, and his delicious hot dogs! Five star dining for all of you who love a delicious hot dog.

Maybe on the pricey side but I think it was very fair for the quality they serve. On a Sunday afternoon it was a constant stream of customers, but they have some indoor seating and plenty of covered outdoor seating with misters. Ketchup and water dispenser available along with packaged condiments like more ketchup, mustard, mayo, and even malt vinegar. Names are called on the speaker and they have several windows to pick up at. Orders are placed inside or outside at the window. It's pretty neat and makes for a perfect blend of updated/nice with great old school charm. I ordered the Guido (pastrami burger), halfsies (family size of fries and onion rings, opted for waffle fries), and a vanilla twisty with heath bar. The Guido is excellent, but you have to know what you're in for. With the pastrami and the deli mustard, it tastes overwhelmingly like a pastrami sandwich and less like a burger. But the patty, cheese, and veggies do add something to it. It's also very messy, but it was delicious. The onion rings were excellent. They have that smooth batter style, sorta kinda like tempura. My wife prefers the panko style so she was more into the fries. For the fries, they were good but I'd probably opt for normal fries next time instead of waffle fries. I was expecting something somewhat similar to chick fil a, but these were a little on the thicker side and almost had the texture of potato wedges. I'm also not a big fry seasoning guy, and these were well seasoned. But that's a me thing. We still ate them all and you know when I come back I'm not leaving here without fries. The twisty was really good. I might be the only one, but I'm such a sucker for heath bar when I saw it on the menu I had to order it. The ice cream was really good quality. Had a great texture and taste. They were generous with the heath bar. I'm aware I took down a disgusting amount of food, but I think if I could change one thing I'd get the larger size of the twisty next time. It was really good. Wish they had a location closer than 30 mins up the hill, but that won't stop me. Note that my wife asked about the black bean patty and it has cheese in it so it is vegetarian but not dairy free or vegan. So if you go that way, there's that. Not much for you besides fries and dole whip.

A Great Burger, a Little Nostalgia, and a 20-Minute Test of Patience…read more I've been bringing my family to this location for years--back when it was a Foster Freeze. This place has some history for me. Many a Friday night, when I was the Defensive Coordinator for Lincoln High School, I'd find myself here. And on those hot summer days, my wife and I would stop in with our son Jonathan before heading off to watch Lincoln play Nevada City. So, yes... I have a little emotional investment in this place. Fast-forward to today, and I'm happy to report that the burgers are still worth talking about. The buns were soft, the meat was flavorful, and the whole burger experience hit the spot. And, of course, my family gave the milkshakes their official seal of approval--which, in my household, is basically a Michelin star. The menu has plenty of good options, there's outdoor seating, and the staff is genuinely working hard. They're multitasking like their lives depend on it, so every once in a while you may need to repeat your order. But honestly, I'd rather see people working hard and trying to take care of everyone than standing around looking bored. Parking can be a bit challenging, too. Consider it part of the dining experience--your appetizer is finding a parking space. So why only four stars? The wait. We waited about 20 minutes for our food. It wasn't terrible, but when you're hungry enough to start considering whether ketchup packets are technically a meal, 20 minutes feels like a lifetime. That said, the food was really good, the staff was friendly, and there's a genuine sense that people are working hard to make this place successful. Bottom line: Great burgers, excellent milkshakes, a solid menu, friendly people, and a little nostalgia thrown in for free. I'd absolutely recommend giving this place a try. Just remember: bring your appetite, a little patience, and maybe say your order twice. Four stars--and I'll definitely be back.
