    Seating Area at Jae's Deli

We took lunch at this deli while visiting a partner company. They took us here because the day was busy and it was in the same complex as their office. This is clearly one of those establishments set up to primarily cater to the clientele in or around their little business campus. It opens for breakfast, closes by 3:30 PM and is not open on weekends. So the hours give a clue with regard to its target market. It was starting to get busy when we walked in. The exterior appearance fit into the development of which it was a part. The interior was relatively plain in appearance but it was clean. There was only limited seating available and we were fortunate to find a couple of free tables at which the six of us could sit. It took good timing as we got our food when a couple of other parties were leaving. The menu was what you would expect of a deli. As one would anticipate, it was a walk-up-and-order format. The person waiting on us behind the counter was polite and efficient. I had the Power Salad with Grilled Chicken. It was actually a solidly good salad. My colleagues also all seemed satisfied with their choices. The prices were reasonable as most items were under $10. Overall, for what it is, this place is a pretty good choice for lunch if you happen to be in the area. It is nothing elegant but you can get some basic choices that are common midday fare. The atmosphere is pretty utilitarian as most of the patrons come within walking distance for a quick noon break. The prices seem quite reasonable so it is a decent bargain. I think it would be well described as a convenient choice for a quick in-and-out meal that won't be memorable. However, at the same time, it won't leave you hungry and won't break the bank.

Very clean and lots of seating! Very busy during lunch hour however they were preparing each order very quickly and it was arriving hot and fresh! When I walked inside 2 ladies were at cash register taking customers orders and 3 ladies plus a man were preparing and cooking orders! I believe this deli owned by nice asian people! My 8" Philly Cheese Steak Sub Combo was $7.99 plus Tax ($8.46 after Tax) which is very reasonable for the quality of their sandwich and amount of Fries and Medium sized fountain drink! I will come back to try other foods they have on their menu!

So I hate to be the Debbi downer of Columbia's business park, but I would say that the food quality of Jae's deli is average at best. Their breakfast sandwiches appear to use the absolute cheapest ingredients that are available. It's almost as if they searched for the cheapest bread they could find. The reason why everyone is so excited about this place, isn't because of the quality or the service, it's simply because they exist. If you feel like abusing your arteries before 9:00 am on a Friday to make yourself feel incrementally better about your life, Jae's exists. If you're swamped with meetings all day and can't afford to take more than a 15 minute lunch break, Jae's exists. What bothers me about this establishment is that they take full advantage of their small monopoly. Having no competition in the immediate area has resulted in an uninspired menu that takes every single shortcut possible. Instead of taking pride in the food they are serving their community, Jae's has opted to sling greasy, mediocre food at it's guests.. but hey, at least they do it with a smile and at least they exist.

Tip: pack your patience…read more I've been wanting to try Cafe Columbia since I heard they have the option to add ice cream to the crepe. Ice cream with crepes are one of my favorite type of crepes, and that's exactly what I ordered; a crepe with ice cream. I walked in and the cafe was bustling with people enjoying their meal, and the workers preparing meals. It was a full house, however, I was able to grab a table for two. French Toast Crepe: this simple yet tasty crepe fit the bill. It had cinnamon flavor with whipped cream and I opted for a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It didn't come with fruit which I will add next time (yes, there will be a next time). Belgium Waffle: another simple item yet the batter was better than I expected. It didn't come with toppings. It came with a lite dusting of powdered sugar and came with room temperature butter. Chai Latte: this was good on the first sip. It seemed watered down and I would have preferred more flavor. Then again, I'm not a regular drinker of chai latte, and my daughter seemed to enjoy it. So don't count this out. When we ordered the staff gave us a disclaimer the crepe would take about 25 minutes. I didn't mind at the time. It took longer than that; however, I could see the workers constantly working on preparing meals so it didn't bother me. We got the waffle about 25 minutes later so we decided to share both the waffle and crepe. The crepe came out about 20 minutes later. The cafe has a well thought out layout. It has tables on each side, a reading area, and an area with complimentary water next to the coffee/tea station. The little station has water, cups, sugar, napkins and creamer (not pictured because it was packed and constantly occupied). On the other side you'll find more tables, the restrooms, and an ostracized nook that had someone in there occupying the chairs for what seemed like quiet time. Customer service is good. Parking is free in a huge parking lot for the business building. The cafe is located at the front of a shared business building. The menu has a variety of waffles with and without fruit options; crepes made either savory or sweet; and coffee drink options. There is an ice cream bar for scoops of ice cream or milkshakes; and lastly some fruit cups. Overall, I enjoyed the cafe and plan to add it to my list of favorites.

Then enjoyed a delicious crepe. The staff is friendly, especially to regulars. 'Hmmmm, do I want to become a regular'? Eggspectation - Merriweather District…read more My first visit to Eggspectation and it made a strong first impression. Located in the ever-growing Merriweather District, parking can be a bit of a mixed bag. There's a nearby surface lot that fills up quickly, but a larger parking garage within easy walking distance that makes things manageable--and a bonus for EV drivers, with multiple charging stations that are available. Just plan ahead, especially on weekends or when events are happening at Merriweather Post Pavilion. The space itself is modern and thoughtfully designed. One side of the dining room features floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light and offers peaceful views of Symphony Woods--a perfect backdrop for a relaxed meal or a little people-watching. There's also a covered outdoor patio that looks especially appealing for warmer days. Service during our lunch visit was excellent. Ethan struck that ideal balance--friendly, attentive, and accommodating without hovering. He handled menu questions with ease and was happy to make a few substitutions without hesitation. A seasonal spring menu is currently available, but the full menu being offered all day is a nice plus. We started with the Ginger Zinger--refreshing with just the right amount of zing. I went with the veggie omelette, customized to my liking, and it delivered: perfectly cooked and packed with fresh mushrooms, spinach, and asparagus. The Lyonnaise potatoes were flavorful, and the lightly dressed salad rounded out the plate nicely. My friends both ordered the Eggspectation breakfast sandwich, stacked high with thick-cut bacon and presented beautifully. Portions across the board were generous--we expected leftovers, but between the good food and even better conversation, most plates were nearly cleared. Prices lean toward the moderately expensive side, but that's fairly standard for this area--and the quality justifies it. If you're looking for a quieter experience, weekdays are your best bet. It's also a great spot to unwind after a walk around the nearby lakes or wooded paths. While there is ongoing construction in the area, the restaurant itself is well insulated from the noise. Overall, a very solid first visit. I'd gladly return to explore more of the menu.

The service was not as good as I'd like for a slow busy morning. We were set pretty quickly but our server was disinterested and didn't allow us to finish our individual orders without repeatedly asking if "that will be all". No. The food looked really good and was mostly delicious. My wife and I both ordered a meal with grits and though our orders were given to use 5 minutes apart both servings were cool, barley room temperature. 1 party member asked for thier beacon to be cooked a little longer after their received their meal. My meal was ordered at the same time as the other 6 meals but for whatever reason wasn't prepared. To avoid the same issue as the other guest I asked for the same doneness for my becaon. Intentionally they added his cooked bacon to my meal and didnt tell us. When we asked the server said "they out it on your plate" huh.... Ill come back to give it another shot at some point.

The food is consistently exceptional, the drinks are always on point, and the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between lively and welcoming. Whenever friends or family visit from out of town, this is my go-to spot because I know they'll leave impressed. Most recently, I visited for brunch on Saturday and ordered the short rib gnocchi. It was absolutely delicious... rich, flavorful, and incredibly filling. I paired it with the bubbles flight, which featured an assortment of four sparkling wines and was the perfect complement to the meal. Every visit reminds me why I keep coming back. The truffle popcorn was excellent, our child enjoyed the shrimp and fries, and the fresh tuna appetizer was flavorful, although overly sauced. Unfortunately, the scallops with risotto were unacceptable. Both entrees had a strong ammonia-like taste from the first bite, which was immediately noticeable to both of us. We were unable to get much attention from our server due to how busy the restaurant was, but the dishes were left mostly untouched for a reason. For a $40 entrée, we expected much better quality and execution. Sadly, The Food Market did not deliver.
