Thought we would give this place another try since it is so close to our house. We went in around 2pm today (an hour before close). There was no friendly greeting at all. Our waitress, Kaylee, was probably the most unfriendly we have ever had. It was clear that she did not want to be there. We waited a long time for our drinks. I ordered a mimosa and asked for the juice on the side (they usually make them way too sweet). The first mimosa came with the juice in it. I didn't say anything. There were 3 of us. 2 plates of food came out first and we had to wait about 5 minutes for our daughter's plate to come out. My hashbrowns were cold and chewy (not good at all). Kaylee did not offer to replace them. My omelet was wonderful and piping hot. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak which was soggy (clearly had been sitting under the heating lamp). Our daughter ordered the pancakes and asked for some chocolate chips and blueberries on top. Kaylee ended up charging us an extra $4.50 for that request without telling us. She never checked to see if the food was good. In fact, she basically ignored us while we were there and they were not busy. I ordered more mimosas and asked again, for the juice to be on the side so it wouldn't be so sweet. This time she brought it the way I had asked. She was quite possibly the worst waitress we have ever had. I didn't touch my hashbrowns because they were disgusting. She cleared my plate and asked if I wanted a box for them. I said no because they were not good. No comment from her. My husband also left a third of his chicken fried steak because it was soggy. Again, Kaylee could not be bothered to address anything. When she brought our check, I noticed she also upcharged us on the mimosas. They are $6 on the menu and she charged us $4 over that. When I asked her, she said that I got more champagne because I asked for the juice on the side so she was charging me extra for that. Um, ok. But you should have told me that upfront. Aren't all of these upcharges something that you should mention to your customer?? Terrible service. I tipped her 20% because waiting tables is not an easy job. She charged my card without showing me a receipt. Then I heard her offer a receipt to the neighboring table so I had to ask her for mine. That was when I saw all of the extra charges. We blame management for not training the staff .. it was so bad that our waitress not only took so long to come get our drink order at least since we were outside and it was hot but also she kept forgetting the necessary things like a side dish,orange juice,fork .. syrup.. It was so disappointing when I asked for a glass of ice to help me cool down and she said they were out .. really!!! They have great customer service, vast selection of food, there is something for everyone and it is all so stinkin delicious! Stopped in for breakfast twice on our recent trip to Phoenix and both times we were pleased with the food and service. With a wide ranging menu and good prices Elly's is a worthwhile stop, especially for breakfast. The food is served hot and fast. For the adults the omelette, frittatas, and hash are recommended AND they come with pancakes instead of toast. For the kids the French toast is really tasty and honestly enough to feed an adult! We recently visited this place, service was quick and friendly. We ordered the kids mini mouse pancakes, migas frittata, and the chilaquiles verdes. Everything was good except the chilaquiles, the salsa didn't really have flavor, was very salty, and too watery. I took a couple bites and I just could not eat it. I asked our server Kirk, I believe his name was, if I can order something different please and his comment to me was "oh I thought you had these before" and I replied of course I have and these are not how they should taste. He brought me a menu and I just ordered a waffle. It was okay nothing special obviously but when we were paying I was finishing putting a tip when I finished signing he rudely snatch his hand held device from me and walked away. I've been wanting to try Elly's since moving to this area, and we finally had a chance to go a few weeks ago! One of my favorite aspects was the atmosphere and the way it looks inside. It kind of reminded me of some of the popular breakfast places in Ocean Beach, which automatically put me in a good mood :) We sat out on the patio, which was decorated in a very cute way as well. It seems like a very family- and pet-friendly place, it was great! The service was also excellent; our waiter was super nice and competent, considering it was pretty busy while we were there, too. For breakfast I had the Brioche French Toast (plain, no fruit) and it was the best French toast I've had in a while. Simple, but delicious. read more

We really enjoyed our breakfast here on two separate occasions. The menu is plentiful with sweet and Savory breakfast options and several gluten free options as well. First time trying Elly's. We both ordered the morning star omelet. I got banana nutella pancakes with mine, my husband got toast. He asked for 2 orders of toast. When the food arrived he received 2 slices of toast and I asked for his 2nd order and the waitress said that is 2 orders. I knew she was lying, what will I do? Argue about toast. I looked at other yelp pictures, every one received 2 slices with their order. So 2 +2=4?? Why lie? Just say, oh let me go get the other toast. Anyway. As for the food- Everything tasted really well made and delicious. Everything was well priced for what you get. We went on a busy Sunday for brunch. There was a wait of 45 minutes but then said it would be more due to the kitchen taking longer with food. The hostess was not nice and they did not have a waitlist app so people were writing their names on a notebook and the hostess would shout it out. At one point, she told the other host who was helping with tables "You can clean them they don't pay me to do that". We finally were seated and ordered right away. My extremely hungry, and very pregnant friend, ordered eggs w/ hash browns and strawberry crepes. Unfortunately, after waiting nearly 2 hrs for our food and checking to confirm that the order stated no onions, in the eggs, the meal arrived w/ onions. We arrived at 11, were seated at 12p and got our food at 1:45p. We left around 2:30. The wait was unexpected and absolutely insane. I'm sad to say we will never go there again. read more

This seemed like a very promising opportunity to dine in while visiting Arizona. We picked this location due to how close it was to our destination and for the style of food we were looking for. When we first walked in everything was well and were welcomed and sat right away from the hostess. This is where things began to get interesting we were given a menu that had crayon on the menu and looked as if it was not cleaned.We then proceeded to wait over 10 minutes before we got our server. We order our drinks for a party of four with three coffees and one Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was subpar and lacked anything that makes it appetizing even though they had it on their chalkboard outside. I have attached a photo of it, the mix was very simple and decoration was only a piece of lime and a celery stick. There was no sense taste of spice and felt more like a tomato base that anything else. When we finally order our food I went with the Meat Lovers skillet. The skillet was well cooked and had no major issues there was a bit of taste missing from it to make it stand out. Salt and pepper had to be added to make it more enjoy full along with hot sauce. This was paired with two pancakes which turned out to be the highlight of this location and one of the few things that I enjoyed right from the start. I Will probably not be returning to this location due to the the dirty menu and long wait times which seems to be a trend in this location based on other reviews. TLDR: Was sat right away was presented with at dirty menu and had to wait over 10 minutes before a server approached us. The drinks were basic and nothing to rave about the food was pretty bland and need it more flavoring. The only redeeming quality of this location was the two pancakes. Long waits times and lapse in cleanliness makes it a hard decision to dine here again. read more

I went a few years ago and ordered "scambled eggs and lox." I've been ordering this dish for years -- eggs scrambled with onions and lox. What I got was a sad side order of eggs and COLD slices of lox. When I mentioned to the server that this wasn't what I was expecting, she said, "Yeah, a lot of people say that." She left without offering to bring me something that would, you know, actually taste good. So, of course, I never went back. Well, my son and daughter-in-law had had a good experience and so we went yesterday. My co-mother-in-law wanted scrambled eggs, but did not want them fluffy. She just wanted them flat, as if one were making an omelette, but without actually making an omelette. (Maybe it's a Swiss thing?) The server said she could do it. But later came back and said, "um, my cook says the only way I can do that it so charge you for an omelette instead of the breakfast special." OK, fine. So we paid the difference. When my son asked if he could substitute pancakes for the hash browns, he was told "no." When the food came, the hash browns were undercooked. When we pointed this out the server, he said, "Yeah, a lot of people say that." On the bright side, our server did come through on one thing. When he was taking our drink order, I told him that I was going to order an omelette and asked if he could put in the side of pancakes early because my two year old grandson would behave better if he got the food earlier than everyone else. Checked out this place for the first time. They are located in the Uptown Plaza at Central and Camelback, tucked away in the corner near West Elm and Creamistry. The patio and interior are decorated nicely and the staff was friendly. As I waited at the coffee center, more than once I was asked if I had been helped. I appreciate the attentiveness. I asked if they had any coffee drinks that could be made iced and was told that any of them can be made iced. I ordered the Mint White Chocolate in the 12 oz size along with a pastry for their grab and go special. The barista allowed me to sample the drink that is usually made hot to see if it was to my liking. It was creamy and minty and a nice spring green color. I agreed that it was great and got my pastry and left. It wasnt until I arrived at work and was reviewing their to-go menu that what I ordered and what was on the menu listed an 12 oz or 16 oz drink. What I received was more like an 8 oz cup that was 1/2 to 3/4 of the way full. Other than the sip I had taken in the restaurant to taste, I had not consumed any more of the beverage. I dont know if this size was for the grab and go special as it didnt indicate a size on the sign that I noticed. I enjoyed the drink, althought I would have liked more of it. The pastry, an almond covered croissant, was generous in size and was fresh and flavorful. Outside of the drink mishap, I think I will return to try lunch. read more

We visited the Elly's Uptown location (100 E Camelback Road Suite 166 Phoenix, AZ 85012 on April 23, 2021. The 1st thing we noticed is that none of the staff had mask's or gloves on, so if that is a deciding factor on where you dine, this may not be the place for you. I don't know if a mask is required to be seated, but if the staff isn't required to wear one, diners probably are not required either. Usually, we love Elly's...this was about our 6th visit...we always come for breakfast. On this visit. Our servers name was Brittany. I ordered a Mocha no whip cream...when the server (not Brittany) brought my drink, he said here's your latte...I asked is this a Mocha...he said "Yes". I tasted it and it tasted like a latte...stirred it to see if there was chocolate residue on the bottom (there wasn't)...had my dining partner taste it as well-who also confirmed it did not taste like a Mocha. When I brought this to Brittany's attention, she commented that she didn't really "know coffee" and the Mocha/Latte button was the same on her terminal....she kept calling my drink a mocha latte and I had to explain that a mocha and a latte are two separate drinks. A mocha is espresso/chocolate/milk-a latte is espresso/milk I can understand if my server doesn't know the difference (although, they should learn). My breakfast companion offered to keep the "latte" and we ordered another mocha (which Brittany had to come back and confirm how I wanted the drink made). Brittany returned with my drink and says "He says this is correct".....kind of a passive aggressive way of saying "wasn't my fault-hope this is right"....How I think it should have been handled is to simply apologize for the mix-up and ask how my new drink was before darting away..... It arrived and did have the chocolate this time, but I can't be sure if there was any espresso in it...it didn't taste like it, but I wasn't sending it back. On my breakfast order-I asked for two servings of butter with my toast and saw Brittany specifically write it on her order ticket with a red pen as she looked me in the eyes and repeated my order. My breakfast only came with one serving of butter...not the end of the world, but also, not what I ordered..... The last time we were there....at least 5 people said said a form of "Thank You"/"Bye"/"Have a nice day".....today only one person (it was the server outside). An "off day" at Elly's? Maybe..... P.S. The playlist here is garbage--it's like a person in their 40s googled "trendy music for young people." To make matters worse, the god awful playlist never ends, seems spotty on the speakers, and keeps intermittently blaring for no reason. Do you like listening to Imagine Dragons at 9am? Seems chronically understaffed which, to me, suggests they aren't paying employees enough to incentivize new ones to come along--thus giving me an ethical complex about giving this business my money, which I probably will not again. I have to say breakfast is my 1st favorite meal. So let us begin this journey of food description. Coffee- bomb so flavorful dark and needs no cream, no sugar and after the 4th cup I was convinced. Then they customized my omelette to a meal lovers. And being a lover of meat it has my stamp of approval. The hash browns yummy I could describe it with crunch and seasoned so good. But I choose yummy. The pancakes they are not the pancake house but they knocked it out of the park. Service- Gillian was so fun cool and helpful. Glasses always full. (Ex. 4 cups of coffee) Price- one phrase "Hell yes". For the amount of food, the flavor of food, and how fast the food came. Can't beat it. Took an hour to get our full order out. We had a few substitutions on our omelettes and the kitchen couldn't get it right. Missing ingredients, side orders made wrong twice...waited for what seemed like forever. The server was super nice and apologized. He was attentive throughout. After everything management offered a 10% discount. We ate here on Memorial Day and we enjoyed the server, Amber. She was attentive and since we appreciate anyone who gives great service I have to mention her...she gets 5 stars. The food was OK. I had crepes with strawberries, the crepes were tough and not hot and the strawberries were cold, like right out of the refrigerator cold so they didn't help with the toughness of the crepes. I also had a side of bacon which was fine but it was not hot and personally a little overcooked, I think bacon should have some give to it, not be crackly. Probably the worst restaurant experience we've had in a long time. We sat and ordered drinks with very little strife. Half an hour later, no drinks. So he goes up and brings an OJ (right) and a latte (not right). I let him know I want a cappuccino, he goes back and brings me another latte claiming it is a cappuccino, with latte art and no foam. Our food comes (we got biscuits and gravy and the steak and wild mushroom skillet), and it was poorly prepared (undercooked veg, over cooked steak, gravy tasted like flour) and massively under seasoned. Our waiter comes back and asks how the food is and I tell him exactly that. His response was "I'm sorry let me know if you want anything else" and he just walks away. Made literally no attempt to make it right. We paid the check in full having eaten nothing but half a pancake and the sides of fruit and bacon we had gotten. Latte that was not a cappuccino still sitting on the table. Now we're headed somewhere else to get breakfast for real this time. Don't waste your time or money with this place. read more
