My husband and I come here frequently!! We love it. Yesterday they were EXTREMELY busy, plus they added more tables outside. We waited over 30 min for a table (totally fine, they were slammed). The male host was amazing. He ran his ass off, and kept track of all the random faces & groups waiting for a table. Some people wore masks, and some didn't (to each their own). I mention that because it's hard to remember face, let alone some masked & some maskless! The food took some time, but our server Jessica was great w coffee refills and a great attitude. Located in a high end shopping center with plenty of parking and security roaming the premises (kind of annoying actually) makes a great breakfast spot in Phoenix. I was invited to breakfast early this Saturday morning. Party of six immediately sat, think it helped that we came at 7 A.M. Ordered the meat lovers skillet with over medium eggs, came with a side of pancakes. The portions here are pretty large- served on an actual skillet. Personally, too much hash browns are served on the skillet making it kind of hard to find the meat. I'm sure they can do with only placing half the amount of hash browns on the skillet to have less waste. The pancakes themselves are pretty basic, no frills. Mine actually happened to be just a tad under done. Bonus point for providing room temperature butter so you can actually spread on to pancakes. Coffee is pretty good, I didn't see any on our table nor did I ask, but no raw sugar packets. Which is my sugar of choice. Kiddo ordered the Mickey Mouse pancake served with whipped cream, strawberries, and canned pineapple. Not sure if whipped cream was from a can or fresh, hopefully fresh whipped. Man this place was packed when we came! I wonder if they're normally like that but it was extremely busy for a Sunday for brunch. The wait was probably around 20-25 minutes for my husband and I. I ordered the banana nutella crepes and a bagel on the side. The crepes were delicious and are a pretty big portion. I also ordered one of their lattes, and their coffee is really strong! They have a pretty good size menu so there's definitely a lot of options. I'm not sure if they do reservations or not but that would be a really good idea since they get so busy. Thought we would give this place another try since it is so close to our house. We went in around 2pm today (an hour before close). There was no friendly greeting at all. Our waitress, Kaylee, was probably the most unfriendly we have ever had. It was clear that she did not want to be there. We waited a long time for our drinks. I ordered a mimosa and asked for the juice on the side (they usually make them way too sweet). The first mimosa came with the juice in it. I didn't say anything. There were 3 of us. 2 plates of food came out first and we had to wait about 5 minutes for our daughter's plate to come out. My hashbrowns were cold and chewy (not good at all). Kaylee did not offer to replace them. My omelet was wonderful and piping hot. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak which was soggy (clearly had been sitting under the heating lamp). Our daughter ordered the pancakes and asked for some chocolate chips and blueberries on top. Kaylee ended up charging us an extra $4.50 for that request without telling us. She never checked to see if the food was good. In fact, she basically ignored us while we were there and they were not busy. I ordered more mimosas and asked again, for the juice to be on the side so it wouldn't be so sweet. This time she brought it the way I had asked. She was quite possibly the worst waitress we have ever had. I didn't touch my hashbrowns because they were disgusting. She cleared my plate and asked if I wanted a box for them. I said no because they were not good. No comment from her. My husband also left a third of his chicken fried steak because it was soggy. Again, Kaylee could not be bothered to address anything. When she brought our check, I noticed she also upcharged us on the mimosas. They are $6 on the menu and she charged us $4 over that. When I asked her, she said that I got more champagne because I asked for the juice on the side so she was charging me extra for that. Um, ok. But you should have told me that upfront. Aren't all of these upcharges something that you should mention to your customer?? Terrible service. I tipped her 20% because waiting tables is not an easy job. She charged my card without showing me a receipt. Then I heard her offer a receipt to the neighboring table so I had to ask her for mine. That was when I saw all of the extra charges. I wanted the Malibu, but was told you were out of chicken breast so resorted to the chicken and waffles because I was craving chicken. Probably the worst thing I've eaten, and I'm no chicken and waffles expert. I'm sure other things are good on the menu, but I now do not want to come back and give you business after this experience. Went to Elly's this weekend with my twins and had a great time... it's in a really cool little shopping area that's great for a walk while you're waiting for your table or after eating to burn off some of the great food... Ambiance - Was a little loud but was really busy so it's to be expected... the tables were a little closer than what you'd think while we try and hold off COVID but not to where we felt unsafe Food - I had the corned beef hash and the twins had like a classic breakfast but the hash browns looked amazing and were enjoyed all around. Wait - We hit them up on a Saturday morning at like 10am... and it was about 15 minutes. No online wait list but it was acceptable given how busy they were. The menu is extensive with many different savory and sweet options to choose from and while it may seem overwhelming at first, it seems as though you could not go wrong with any choice. I ordered the migas frittata and it was delicious. It came in a skillet with melted queso fresco on top, flavorful chorizo mixed in, and cilantro and green onions to bring some freshness! The portion was also huge and I was only able to finish half of my meal. I opted for the pancakes as my side and I'm so glad I did. The pancakes are so fluffy!! My boyfriend ordered the apple cinnamon chip pancakes and he loved his dish!! The apples were cooked perfectly - they were soft and covered in a delicious cinnamon syrup that made the pancakes so flavorful! The only suggestion we had was to layer the cinnamon apples between each of the pancakes instead of just topping the whole stack with the apples! Note to Elly, I understand the need to prep the celery and olives to expedite the drinks but my celery was completely wilted and brown, inedible and took away from the experience-but the drink was excellent. P had mimosas and was content as always. I had the migas frittata; spicy chorizo, avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, etc. Sounded great on paper, on the plate, just kind of average-a little too commercial, not enough soul for me. Spicy chorizo and jalapeño screams hot and this little doll was a lukewarm poser. Completely edible and enjoyable but certainly will never be reordered. Elly's menu is incredibly large and I may go back to indulge in some carbs like crepes, pancakes, or waffles. I'd definitely recommend Elly's. We ate here on Memorial Day and we enjoyed the server, Amber. She was attentive and since we appreciate anyone who gives great service I have to mention her...she gets 5 stars. The food was OK. I had crepes with strawberries, the crepes were tough and not hot and the strawberries were cold, like right out of the refrigerator cold so they didn't help with the toughness of the crepes. I also had a side of bacon which was fine but it was not hot and personally a little overcooked, I think bacon should have some give to it, not be crackly. The food was pretty good, but not worth the service or design flaws. There are only two stalls in the bathroom when they have a HUGE room and outdoor seating as well... I had to wait in line 15 minutes just to get in the door! The staff were also super patronizing. Where the food comes out for the servers is like a long hallway going from the door straight to the bathroom. It seems like everyone thought that was the way to the bathroom (I saw others going that way to get there), so when I tried to as well, one of the servers yelled "no no no!" and then when I turned around she said "that's too dangerous for you sweetie" as if I were a child. What you have to do instead is weave around the crowded tables, get stuck behind other people moving their chairs, and then wait 15 minutes to pee. Not worth it. They also overcharge, but that's typical for the area. read more

Worst experience! Two of us placed our breakfast order, 20 minutes later the server came back and said just wanted to confirm what we ordered and another table got our order. Alittle frustrating but we ordered again. We finally got our food 20 minutes later, so a total of 40 minutes to wait for food. Server did not apologize so I asked for the manager. She came over, said it happens now and then, there was a glitch in the system, not sure why. I asked if she could at least comp some of the bill for the inconvenience, she said she could only comp our cokes and were responsible for the rest. Note: The people behind us sat after us, ate and left before we even finished. If the staff apologized I would understand but the way it was handled and whatever glitch they have and they didn't seem to work it out, I would never eat here again. I have family in town and I am giving them as many experiences as I possibly can. I decided to take them to Elly's Brunch & Café located in the AJ's shopping corner of Camelback and Central Avenue. There is a beautiful developed corner area there and Elly's is in there. So we walk right in and of course it is extremely busy but they are experts at moving customers and we were immediately seated. There was that beautiful din of happy breakfast diners that is somehow warm and comforting. They brought us very good coffee right away and took our orders. I had a very good Berry Mascarpone Crepe with Maple Syrup. Light and excellent! The service was excellent considering the high volume of diners and everyone enjoyed the experience and so will you! read more

I want to preface my review by saying that I used to LOVE Elly's. The service, the food, the atmosphere was all great. Since they've reopened post-Covid, I've had 2 absolutely regrettable experiences here. On both occasions the food took 45+ minutes (for a table of 2) to arrive at the table. Both times the food was then delivered wrong. On the last occasion the #5- the croissant sandwich, was delivered on sourdough and the server's response to a question as to the whereabouts of the croissant was, "Oh yeah, we're out of the croissants." On one the two occasions my skillet came out as an omelet and when I mentioned it to the server she argued with me and said, "No, you ordered an omelet. Look, I wrote it down," and proceeded to show me her chicken-scratched notepad. I honestly don't care what you write down. You could have written the great American novel on that notepad but it doesn't change the fact that I ordered a skillet and they messed it up. When I asked if I could have it remade as a skillet she said, "I'll try but I can't rush your order because that's not what you wanted. So you'll have to wait at least another half hour." The table of 2 next to us got up and left after waiting an hour without getting their order. The staff is overwhelmed, the kitchen is undermanned, and the level of professionalism is next-level pathetic. The one star is for the coffee, which is good. But if a guest has time to drink 8 cups of it before their food comes out and isn't even correct, it kind of loses its luster. read more

Do not order delivery from this restaurant. It's Mother's Day. The restaurant did not have 2 of my 5 breakfasts (ingredients out of stock). They did not contact me for an alternate or cancel the order on Grub Hub. The manager totally lied and said the delivery driver was responsible for contacting me. So, I have 5 people and 3 breakfasts for Mother's Day. The manager offered a credit or I could come pick up something else. I guess the other three peoples' meals can be cold when we finally get all 5 dishes and I can make a special trip to pick up my delivery. I should have been contacted by the restaurant and this resolved or order cancelled upfront. I should not have been lied to by the manager. I should not be the one to fix this while the rest of my order gets cold. I won't eat here again, and it was one of my fave spots. Too bad. read more

With no shortage of breakfast locations along Camelback, any new place has to really be impressive. Well, Elly's is! Elly's is tucked back in the corner of the Uptown Plaza on Central and Camelback (near Lou Malnatis & Creamistry). Don't let the size fool you, there is actually a lot of space inside and we have never waited more than 15 minutes for a table. The menu is fairly extensive and includes pancakes, waffles, omelettes, frittatas, sandwiches and salads. There is also a coffee/tea bar with lots of delish options. I've had the morning omelette (pictured) and the corned beef hash, both of which were phenomenal! I would say the corned beef hash was the best thing I have had. They have gluten free options as well, the pancakes were great! Someone else at our table had a frittata (also pictured) and said it was really good as well. What's even better, Elly's is one of the cheaper breakfast spots in the neighborhood and the staff is terrific! Definitely would recommend Elly's. read more

I don't write a lot of Yelp reviews, because at the end of the day I realize that most of the time I enjoy my restaurant experiences and if it goes poorly, it's just a minor mistake and not a big deal. Also, as someone who was a server for about 10 years, I understand most people working in restaurants are trying their best and mistakes happen. However, Elly's in Uptown Plaza has consistently been the worst restaurant experience I've ever had; from the food, to the service, to the value, it is consistently a negative dining experience. My first time at Elly's, my lox and bagel sandwich tasted stale and the server was in-attentive and un-friendly. I knew the bagel was stale because I could see plate after plate piling up in the window. Nobody in this restaurant runs food or has a sense of urgency, so this was not surprising. We had some OK experiences at Elly's afterwards, but then the trouble came back again. On my fourth visit, it took 20 minutes for my cortado to arrive. The server was friendly enough, but it was clear that she was the only server who cared about her tables. Everyone else was milling around the host stand, again with no sense of urgency, while this poor girl is busting her ass. Tables were unbussed (which is interesting considering there's always a wait) for forever. The fifth visit is what was the cherry on top. My girlfriend wanted to eat at Elly's, because she was willing to give it a chance, but her parents were reluctant because they have had terrible experiences previously. This was the masterpiece of Elly's complacent level of service. We waited 5 minutes to get greeted. Once again it took 20 minutes for a drink, this time my girlfriend waited to get an ICED TEA. Again, I could see plates piling up in the window while nobody ran food, instead taking the time to hang out at the host stand and stand around. I swear, there were plates of pancakes in the windows for 30 minutes. When the food finally arrived, which was at least 25 minutes, 3 out of the four orders were wrong. My Eggs Benedict tasted stale and the eggs  were no longer poached because they had gotten over cooked sitting in the expo window. When we told our server about our experience, she did not take any responsibility or apologize. She blamed the regular cooks being out on holiday and how the hosts would double seat her and it's her fourth day. We also mentioned how many bad experiences we have had before. Instead of sending a manager over or offering to take it off our checks, she told me to leave a phone number because she's "Very close with the owner" and they'll call me to make it right. Afterwards we went next door for cookie dough and the cashier mentioned, unsolicited, that she's never been impressed with Elly's food or service either. She says there's constant turnover. Honestly, I don't blame the servers or the cooks; a restaurant this bad can only be rotten from the core due to apathetic and incompetent management. As someone who was a server and in restaurants long enough to know, avoid this place like the plague. No urgency, overpriced, and no commitment or pride in their product or service. If you're looking for a trendy brunch with no substance, this is your place. Over a week later, no call from Elly's to make it right. Just the bad taste in my mouth from their food and horrendous service. read more
