My husband and I came here for the first time recently because we needed to fill some time before a doctor's appointment, and overall, we were content with the experience. I also ordered bacon on the side (3 for $4.25). The egg sandwich was okay, but the bagel tasted like those cheap bagels you would get at a hotel during their complimentary breakfast that come from a bag. The sandwich didn't have anything on it other than exactly what they called it on the menu: a bagel, sausage links cut in half, an egg, and cheese. Nothing on the sandwich was seasoned or flavorful. My husband enjoyed his food much more than I did, and he ordered the Big Texas Breakfast ($12.95). This came with country-fried steak with sausage gravy on top, 2 eggs your way, and hash brown potatoes. He also ordered sausage links on the side (3 for $4.25). The service was friendly, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time, which worked well for us since we were on a bit of a tight schedule. I liked that they offered an opportunity to check the wait times. We were a party of 2 and were seated immediately. The restaurant is smaller and has an old fashioned diner feel with their decor. My family and I love this place. The food is always good and the waitresses are very courteous. Although, the woman at the front register could use some classes on how to be more polite. But other than that, this place is always in our rotation when we decide to go out for breakfast. You gotta try a "Nest". Not too many other places have this option. read more

Great diner ambience. They offer anything from omlettes to skillet to pancakes and waffles. What makes them stand out as they also offers Swedish pancakes. My omelette was standard, but I upgraded to shredded hashbrowns and French toast, which were amazing. It's the first time I've ordered to have it delivered to my house. It was very greasy food. I had to absorb some of the grease with a paper towel before I could even think of eating it. I asked for Denver omelette with cheese. Well, they obviously forgot because the cheese was inside the omelette but all the other stuff that was put on top barely cooked. It's never been made that way before because I've eaten there several times. And I believe the side of sausage I ordered was not fully cooked and my husband thought that also. And none of the food was really hot. I've eaten at the restaurant several times and really enjoyed it. that's why I decided to try and order from there, but that won't happen again. read more

Was looking for a breakfast place near my doctor's office, post check up. Saw the many positive reviews for Lola's and headed there, stat. There was lots to examine on the menu...plenty of options to make my mouth water and pulse race. After careful diagnosis, decided on a Denver omelette. Delicious. My dining companion ordered the Italian skillet. She enjoyed the fresh, quality ingredients, but lamented her platter wasn't running much of a fever...it wasn't hot. She wished it was served on a hot, sizzling metal platter. I also read reviews of the ham and prescribed a slice on the side. Glad I did. The ham was tender and tasty. Enjoyed consultation over the table. The bill came. Insurance wouldn't cover, but that's okay because it was quite reasonable. If you're looking for a great breakfast diner, I refer you to Lola's. read more

I haven't been to Lola's Diner in close to 10 years since I moved from Park Ridge. It still had the same vibe as I remember. Friendly staff and great service. I was with a group of maybe 25 to 30 ladies, Jose was very efficient and accommodating to everyone. I had the 2 x2x2 breakfast and took the chopped salad to go. I don't get all the super-positive reviews for a place that has an ordinary diner menu and pleasant but unremarkable dining room. I came with my wife for lunch before a flight at O'Hare. I got a cheeseburger with a diet coke, she got pancakes and poached eggs. Based on past yelp reviews where customers had their burgers burned to a crisp, I emphasized wanting a "medium" burger and fries. Instead it came "well-done", a thin patty that looked like the frozen stack I buy at Costco with crinkle-cur fries that were nothing special. The eggs were perfect and the pancakes were ordinary with a bottle of cheap, food-service syrup. The ketchup on the table was also obviously not Heinz. The men's room was disgusting with urine all over the floor. Indeed the best thing about the experience was the service which was attentive and the Diet Coke which came with free refills. read more

My experience is definitely colored by the Pokemon card vending machine in the front served me a shiny rare card, but I did enjoy my wrap and all of my compatriots liked the breakfast and lunch options. Choosing some lighter fare, my tuna salad wrap was very tasty and really hit the spot. Love the kettle chips and I started with a side salad. The salad was not remarkable, but always great getting some greens. The hash brown nests are the real draw here. My companion had a sausage with eggs breakfast all wrapped up in crispy griddle hash browns - I mean, what about that doesnt sound amazing? The coffee kept flowing and they offered to go cups for us! Lola's is the BEST! It's our favorite breakfast place in Park Ridge by far. It's almost always open (even on some holidays) and it's usually pretty busy in a good way. There's so much seating that the wait doesn't usually take long except occasionally on Sundays after church. The parking lot is a bit tight but you can also street park. The staff is incredible, so nice, and always busy! The outside is such a cute little diner appearance and the inside is a clean turquoise/white/black diner. It is so cute and authentic and always very clean- even the small restrooms. Every inside detail is very well thought out. Now, the food is incredible. The servings are giant and priced very fairly. Always check out their special menu- they're always so great and for a great price. I order the eggs for a nice sized meal, fruit cheese blintzes for something sweet or unique, and eggs benedict for a yummy classic. The skillets are also amazing. I almost always have extra leftovers to bring home because it's so much food. You can't go wrong with any breakfast meal here. read more

Pass this place often and finally had to stop in on a Sunday for brunch. Typical diner;fast paced and efficient. We got seated quickly. Waitress was kind and prompt, a lot of things on the menu and I do think everything is moderately priced. They also offer sandwiches and other lunch items but we scurried our eyes to their breakfast items. We got the Italian skillet and traditional egg Benedict - both were great! Both came with 3 eggs so get your appetite ready! Restaurant was full and bustling, everything that came out of the kitchen looked good. I have been a customer of Lola's Diner for more than a decade and I have to say the last few times I have come to eat in or ordered out the service and food has been sub-par at best. Today I order my mom and I breakfast to go and I ordered ahead so not to wait too long. I waited 20 minutes for my to go order and when I got home the order was wrong. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich with scrambled eggs, and I got fried eggs and no cheese that I paid extra for. I called to alert them of the issue and all I got was so sorry I let the owner know. Disappointed and Lola's needs to do better. Don't mean to be a baby about it but I hate fried eggs and I expect to get what I pay for and should be able to eat it as well. I'm hungry. read more

This was a great find whilst out house hunting nearby. When they say "diner", they're right because telling into true place elicits just about whatever you would think of when you you think diner: counter seating; bright blue booths; Formica tables. It's not a huge establishment by any means but they do what they do well. When we entered, the staff (manager?) was super thoughtful in finding us a table that would work well for a stroller. I ordered a Nest and it was so good. I love when places have something that's a little more unique than at other restaurants, something besides just an omelet and toast or what have you, and the Nest is a new one; it's kind of like a skillet without the skillet, as it's made with eggs, your choice of meat, cheese, onion, all wrapped up in hash browns. The Nest is delicious, truly, and I'm really glad I chose this. They cooked the bacon well through which is always a surprise to me when I go to a breakfast place because usually I need to order bacon well done to make sure it's not still too uncooked/fatty. The Nest comes with toast or pancakes as a side as well, so it's a lot. Since it's October, they had as a special pumpkin pancakes, and I had those for an added $2.50. The pancakes were great too. I've had sweet potato pancakes once or twice, but other than that just "regular" pancakes so I wasn't sure what I'd think of these, but they were really good so I am happy with my choice. I did see they had specials when we came in, and had planned to get something from that menu, but it could have been easy to miss and the server didn't even mention specials at all nor was there a menu that listed them besides the board behind the host station. That's probably the suggestion I'd make--that the serving staff either mention the specials or that they have a daily menu they pass out with them listed. They don't have an incredibly large parking lot--unless there are a bunch of spaces behind the restaurant. There are a dozen or so along the side of the place, but on the weekend they also have parking at the Metra station I think. I'd happily return for breakfast. read more

I don't have an issue w the food or the service. Food is good at a fair price. The servers, worked very hard on a busy Sunday morning. I have an issue w the hostess. I had made a reservation for 11:00 on a Sunday. At 10:57, I received a phone call from Lola's. I called backed promptly at 10:58, to say we we almost there. She thanked me for confirming. When we arrived. We had no table for our party of 14, which consisted of 7 adults and 7 children. We were told we would need to split up our party or go on the waiting list. The not very helpful hostess was rude and told me she left me a phone message at 9 to confirm my reservation. I pulled out my phone, and showed her that I did not receive such a call. And she said, Well, I called the number you gave me. Curious how the phone call at 10:57 went through but not the one at 9:00. I suspect she was lying. We will not go back to Lola's because of her deception and rudeness. The loss of 14 Park Ridge customers. Way to go. By the way, we were celebrating a 5 year old birthday. I love chilaqulies and these were right on in terms of texture and the rest and the eggs were great. They said the greens sauce was more mild, but it was so hot. I could not take more than 2 to 3 bites despite using all of the sour cream in the small container that was given to me. Everything was great except for that spice level because it was definitely not mild. I was with six other people who loved everything else, but it was just a blowout for my taste buds. I had the chicken tortilla soup before, so it was fine that I didn't eat my entrée and some of the people with me took it home. Otherwise, everybody else had great food and it looks fantastic. We always enjoy our meals at Lola's! It's set up like a fifty's diner. So cute! Staff is always personable and kind. Burgers are yummy and cooked perfectly to our satisfaction. Pancakes and egg dishes are good as well. My only issue was with Lola's fruit crepes. Loved that I had the choice of fresh fruit or compote. However the crepes were thicker than I'm used to and they were dark. A brownish color that I think was due to cinnamon and perhaps nutmeg that was a little too flavored for me. Cute retro diner. Loved the vibe and decor of this place. Very very long menu so you can pretty much get whatever you want for brunch and it will surely please whoever you're with. From typical brunch options like omelets and skillets to Swedish pancakes and sandwiches, they've got it all. Amazing value with huge portions, and they're all done pretty well too.
