It's an old school diner feel - box cereal, pies in a cooler, cooks busting out great meal after meal. Takes you right back to the 90's. My first time here and brought my parents. We all loved it. Dined for $115 with tip and we all had an omelette with a protein, side of bacon, and coffees. I got the Spartan omelette. It was recommended and right up my alley with mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and feta cheese. I also added bacon and it was delicious! I was able to get it with a cut banana and it was perfectly ripe. My husband got the Denver omelette which is also know as a Western- ham, onion, bell pepper, and American cheese. I'm glad this place close. This place was a joke. The cooks like eating food straight from the grill into their mouths then you can watch them make your plate of food without washing hands or wearing gloves. They Charge extra for potatoes with your breakfast and use lowest quality products. Picked up my partner at O'Hare and decided to have a birthday breakfast! We get in the old diner style restaurant, get seated at the bar and our waitress is ALREADY there with water and ready to take our order. I was impressed by that alone. We order eggs Benedict and the Mac wrap. They are out in less than 10 minutes. I give her and the cook props for the timing and the cook jokes, "all out of a microwave." HA! We knew that was not true. Looking at the menu, the ham off the bone looks like their specialty so we both were sure to get meals with that! We split the burrito and the Benedict. Both were lacking salt in my opinion but I understand under salting for the masses so us salt lovers can add our own with reckless abandon. Please note this is CASH ONLY! This place is a great small, quick local diner! Hit it up on the way to the airport and was so glad to have stopped. Seated quickly at the counter where all the action happened. Watched the cooks and expediter speed through tickets with a system that would impress anyone! Less than 30 minutes from walking in the door, being seated (got lucky with counter seat and bypassed those waiting for booths), orders, food, and payment. The food is basic diner food but cooked perfectly-scrambled eggs fluffy, the toasted set to medium brown, the bacon crispy but not burnt, and the hashbrowns were crispy as advertised. The crew is flying the entire time, polite and friendly. Really enjoyed watching the expediter and main line cook interact! Will 100% be back next time I'm in Chicago! read more

Very classic style diner for breakfast and lunch. They have their own parking in the back. It's also conveniently located if you decide to walk from a hotel that you are staying at like I did. As you enter, there is an ATM machine. They only accept cash. So bring $20 or more for your food plus tax and tip. The owner and waitresses are very friendly. They serve the food fairly quick. Visiting Chicago, Nov' 23. Stopped by Mac's restaurant for breakfast / brunch. Had the dish with Ham and egg and hash browns. And toast and jam (not pictured). I don't remember name of the dish. Food was great tasting, ham had right amount of salt and sodium. Nothing was spicy and food was rather bland, but it was tasty enough and I'll give it a pass. Solid breakfast spot. The one negative, they accept cash only; and I was lucky that I had a 20 dolla bill stashed just in case. Because I don't imagine they woulda been happy if I only had card no cash. Came into town for a meeting and was here for a couple hours. My friend suggested we have lunch here, and I am very glad we did! It's right off the exit near O'Hare, but if you don't know about this spot, chances are you drive by without getting the benefit of their fantastic offerings! We were greeted by Nick (owner/GM?), and Beth was our server. Everyone was super friendly and helpful- offering advice, getting refills, making sure we were completely satisfied with the meal. The diner has parking on the side and in the back lot, plenty to accommodate everyone if they drove separately. Diners are still going strong in Chicagoland, but now that I'm in GA, I don't have as many options where I live. I usually get an omelette (ham and Swiss) but I changed my order up and went with do red beef hash, a short stack of pancakes, and a side of loaded home fries (Swiss cheese, bacon, onions and potatoes, all cooked to the highest level of crispiness. Nick told me that they make their own salsa, and that people love it. I got a side to try with my loaded home fries- I can get into some serious trouble if I still lived in town here! You can tell they are making this fresh, onions and tomatoes, seasoning, hot peppers, everything is cut nicely into even pieces so you are getting the best of everything when you get into a bite- I loved it! They had two soups today, cream of potato and beef barley. I have been up for almost two days, flying on a redeye from Vegas to ATL, then over to O'Hare for the meeting today. As soon as I get home I am going to sleep for hours! You simply must come in and meet the team that's crushing it out here in Park Ridge. Nick and Beth were the two names I remembered since my brain is operating at low performance from a lack of sleep. I will tell you that it's probably impossible to get out of here without being completely satisfied. They have a personal touch on everything that's obvious in every bite you take. While, I ate here on Vacation, this is a spot for locals. I heard the couple working (who I'm assuming to be the owners) call people by name. The energy in the place was good. The decor was plain but clean. The place was small and full of people. I ordered the Western Omelet and a fountain drink. To which, our waitress replied "are hash browns okay?" Yes. "You like sweet?" Yes. "You want 1 piece of pecan fresh toast?" Ok. "You like spicy?" Yes. "I'll bring you homemade Salsa, let me know if you like it?" Ok. Now, understand that many restaurants (where I live) include hash browns and toast (with a pancake option for a small, up charge). So, I thought I was buying a meal. One meal. I though the waitress was being nice and helpful. When the bill came, everything was its own separate charge. The boyfriend and I's two $12 to $15 omelet "meals" with pop where somehow $64 dollars . While everything tasted good, I will not be returning, that is too much money for breakfast food in such a simple looking place. To top it off when my boyfriend went to pay, they don't take debt or credit cards (only cash) in 2025. There was no sign or menu note ahead of time, warning of cash only. There was an ATM in the entryway with a $3 fee for his bank. They then took the $3 fee off our final bill. I was however charged for sausage that I never received (it was supposed to be (an add on) inside the omelet. read more

During my visit to the Midwest, I craved diner food after a workout. I did a yelp search and came across Mac's. Totally legit diner experience! I sat at the counter and was immediately offered coffee and water. After I ordered, I was handed a newspaper so I could read up on the goings-on in Chicago. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet - YUM and great portion size. The homemade salsa that came with the dish was amazing - nice heat. They should package it up for sale. The skillet comes with a side of toast. I couldn't decide on the toast, so the fabulous server (whose name I should have asked) recommended a piece of their glazed pecan French toast. I am not a sweet breakfast person [pancakes, waffles, crepes, etc.], but this particular French toast was other-worldly. It was not too sweet, plus the toasted pecans gave great texture and a wonderful nuttiness. It did not need maple syrup, though I added a few drops. This comes w/sausage, bacon & ham over potatoes w/eggs. As always I asked for my potatoes cooked well & crispy (excellent perfectly done) & my eggs over easy (once again perfectly done over east w/a nice gooey yolk). Just the way I like my potatoes & eggs. The one exception I had was do I want 2 or 3 eggs, of course I asked for 3. I'm a little bit surprised by a $3.00 add for an egg? We stopped here after dropping off some friends at the Ohare airport, this breakfast place is located conveniently only 10 minutes away and opens at 7 am. The stand outs of the meal were the blueberry pancakes (super fluffy and delicious and full of berries), as well as the fast and efficient service. We also tried the two egg breakfast with bacon, and hash browns added on the side, which we thought was good, but overall could have been more flavorful in my opinion. I did really enjoy the super crispy bacon, which tasted somewhat like chicharron in my opinion, if you've ever had that before. Oh! Really good breakfast! I had more than an hour to kill for my flight, so I decided to try a local spot instead of airport food. It is set up as an old time dinner with counter seating and booths. The line was long, but they move you thru pretty quick. My waitress was really nice and took the time to tell me the menu. I had the corned beef hash, eggs over easy and hash-browns. Place seems to be a "fave" for locals and the tables turn pretty quickly. The establishment is on the smaller side but the servers are hustling!
