My go to place for german pancakes and crab omellette. Service is good and attentive staff.

Good quality food in a relaxed family atmosphere. Good crepes are hard to find but you can't go wrong at Elmer's.

Amazing service and items on the standard breakfast dining menu were delicious. We had a large group and they were so accommodating!!

Food is about what you would expect from a casual family restaurant. Nothing to write home about -- more or less on par with a Denny's. We went early on Mother's Day (about 8 am) and they were very busy. Even so, we hardly saw the waitress. She barely checked on us and I had to ask for more coffee -- something I thought was a given from a place like this. Meh. read more

I go to Elmers specifically for German pancakes I have not been to the one here on 82nd and a very long time as I live in Troutdale. After my daughter got out of school We visited this Elmers on 82nd at 2 PM on a Monday I order the German pancake as I always do and it was just plain disgusting so I returned it and proceeded to wait another 15 minutes before I got up and left with both my daughters they were not busy they were his two other people in the restaurant and the waitress was just ignoring me. when I told the manager I was leaving she asked why and I told her. She then said oh that is too bad. I Then paid for my daughters meal which she ate and the manager let me leavelet me leave. I am so disappointed in their service and the way that dream cake looked I will not be back. read more

Had the Farmers Omelette, which was VERY good, I think I would get that again and loved the Orange Juice. And Karin (my wife) went with the German Pancake, which I had a bit of, and it was pretty good also. The service was above very good IMO, and we were seated right away, we seem to have a knack of getting in before the rush, as it got very busy from the time we sat down, till the time we left. The food was perfect, and enjoyed it,so overall, I would have to recommend any Elmers, they all seem pretty good! read more

My family has made a tradition to go to Elmers whenever it snows or just when everyone can get together and isn't working that evening. Something about sitting by the fireplace and chatting away with the family. Elmers has sort of that family feeling and is always welcoming. I usually get the golden chicken tenders because, well, THEY'RE ALWAYS GOOD! I recommend them!! We also get the big German pancake and the berry crepes. All so amazingly delicious and hot every time. The waitress/waiter is always coming up and making sure we're doing fantastic which I appreciate. I don't know about anyone else that has gone here but this specific location had always done us fantastic service. We will be back again and again! read more

Being in the mood for pancakes, knowing that Elmer's makes the best Buttermilk, my hubby and I stopped in here after he completed a medical test at the nearby hospital. It was an odd time of day to eat - about 3:30 PM - so it was fairly quiet. We saw a few other senior citizens - like ourselves - seated. What happened next is that our food server - Ashley - brought us menus + POSTIVE ENERGY. She immediately welcomed us, treating us as though she'd known us all our lives. Ignoring his menu, my husband said that he wanted only 3 breakfast items - eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. Using her detailed knowledge of the menu, Ashley proceeded to find a breakfast entree which included all three rather than charging us separately (and making it more expensive) for each item. When I told her I wanted Decaf but only if it hadn't sat around a long time, she brought a cup to me and pronounced it to have been made "27 minutes" ago. When she offered me a refill, it was not only from a fresh pot but in a new cup so the two brews wouldn't be co-mingled! We enjoyed our food (although it was slow in arriving - thus, the 4 stars instead of 5), but our food server's company even more. If you try this place, maybe you'll be lucky enough that Ashley is on duty! read more

I wish we had elmers in Sacramento. They are all good but this location is the best I've been too. Super efficient and speedy service. I had coffee and the German pancake combo and it was delicious. Me being a pancake addicted drove me here, well ghat and it's close to home and has been consistently good in service and food. There aren't that many negatives expect for the wait, amount of old people and lack of parking when it's early in the am or on weekends. read more

We do still love Elmer's, having visited others while we travel. However THIS Elmer's is not veteran friendly. The Clackamas restaurant would not honor the veteran's discount I have enjoyed at other Elmer's locations. Something to be considered when in the Clackamas area. read more

I really hate to ever write negative reviews but my hope is someone from management will see this and make some SERIOUS changes from real customer experiences. My mom and I walked into this location today and could feel the tension from the staff immediately. It was filthy. Carpets full of dirt, napkins all over, etc. Dining outside of your home is supposed to be a treat, not uncomfortable. We weren't greeted and when we were it was "do you want a booth or table or do you not care" ... and that was it. We went to be seated, the tables were so wobbly and old and after ordering some drinks a manager asked "ugh, did you get your drinks yet?! You should've had them by now" ... the vibe was just not good and we decided to get up and leave. We went across the street to Denny's and had a great breakfast. This place needs restaurant impossible asap. Perception is everything! Cleanliness matters. read more

Just discovered this PacNW breakfast place. Now a favorite for quick, well prepared meals.

I don't like giving bad reviews, but this was well deserved. The food was very underwhelming, but most importantly every server was passive aggressive to my mother and I. We got there 30 minutes before closing and they sat us, but they seemed visibly annoyed that they couldn't refuse us. If they didn't want to serve us they should have just refused us, not made us uncomfortable the entire meal. This was waste of time and money. We will never return. read more

The worst dining experience we've had in years. One German pancake came out inedible, our drinks didn't arrive, the entrees arrived 8 minutes apart and were incomplete, asked twice for a drink refill once the drinks arrived and asked twice for ketchup. Waitress was confused and slowly moved about the restaurant even though we had asked for things. The person at the front who we asked to help stared at us blankly. We used to go to Elmer's frequently and unfortunately I see the signs of times. They're yellow bowl salad used to have a little bit of everything on it and it was the most Delicious for like five bucks I am prices stay the same but now is just lettuce, a couple pieces of cucumber and little else. I'm not sure, but I believe they're using a different percentage hamburger and the last two times that I've had a burger there it's been quite gristled As well as lacking flavor. Holy crap! Literally..i write this on my phone while I sit on the toilet I've been on for hours in severe pain shouting obscenities! Had some fish and chips..who does that right? My husband and I sit in the bar, the last few times we have been I have had no complaints, good food and good drinks. We will for sure keep coming back.... so many negative reviews for the German pancake and that was the first thing I ordered after not being to an Elmer's in 6+ years. And I forgot how GOOD they were!! Last time I had the waffle with bacon, and they never fail when I ask them to make it extra crispy... it's perfect. If your looking for gourmet food... look elsewhere, but if your looking for a home cooked dining experience, then come here and sit in the bar it's so much less crowded then the dining room. OK OK I know its Elmer's but hey I still like this place. I got to enjoy the experience with my Mom and Husband in from out of town and ya know sometimes ya just gotta go eat were mom wants to eat. this would not have been my first choice but hey Mom wanted to eat here. So the best part is my wife and I had just eaten a few hours before we came and Mom and Larry wanted lunch so here we are and what to do. We don't want to be rude and just have water or a soda and watch them eat, so we decide that we will share a Fish and Chips and a Salad. now being in the business I know this can be kinda touchy with some establishments but hey we just were not that hungry. The waitress (a professional Elmer's forever employee) did not respond the way I figured. She had not a problem one with our request and actually brought us our salad in separate bowls split for us and brought an extra plate with the fish and chips. She was very engaging and fun to talk with and checked back with us in a timely manner but not obtrusive. Very good experience and would recommend this location to anyone anytime. read more

I have been taking my mom here for the last couple months and generally, the meals have been ok, nothing bad, but nothing great. That said, it's good diner food. I always and I mean I always order eggs benedict and again, while not great they did at least know the fundamentals. Well, despite assurances from the wait staff they told me they didn't get a new chef after my last experience, but I'm still not convinced. Overnight, the food changed and basic culinary knowledge and skill left. Case in point. The last three times I had to return my eggs benedict because the poached eggs were basically hard boiled. Ridiculously so. The last time was mind blowing. Again, eggs ridiculously over cooked. I sent it back. However, I've not had one bite of anything on the plate, but I did put ketchup and spice on the hash browns that I always order crispy. The waitress returns with the second attempt and what I heard, saw and tasted next was jaw dropping. Eggs still over cooked, english muffin not toasted and the worst of all. The waitress said the cook just put your hash browns in a pan while they recooked the eggs! I replied with, really! The cook thinks putting already cooked crispy hash browns back onto a cooktop with oil with my ketchup and spice on top of all things is a smart idea? Worst bite of potatoes I've ever had. He added cold oil on top while they sat and warmed. Soggy with oil and the taste I can't describe. I asked the waitress to try and she wouldn't. I had my mother try and she had to spit it out. Needless to say, I've never seen such incompetence by a so called cook in my life. Now, to be fair, the staff is always friendly and I will give them one more chance after I can get the aftertaste out of my mouth, but I really hope they change cooks--can't call whomever made my meal a chef. read more

I arrived there on Sunday around 2 pm. Was seated right away. After 15 minutes, waitress arrived at my table (solo dining) to give me a glass of water & menu. The restaurant was about 1/4 full of customers. Once I ordered, my meal arrived in about 10 minutes. The potato pancakes, egg & bacon were perfect temperature. I had requested the bacon be crisp, but arrived about 3/4 cooked. The eggs & pancakes were done nicely. It appeared that when the staff was clearing several tables, they used the same towel. It was hard to tell if they used any disinfectant or not - & they were slow in doing so. The ladies restroom is in terrible condition. One of the 2 soap containers did not have a lid, was full of liquid soap but the push button to get soap did not work at all. The paper towel dispenser took numerous tries to activate the dispensing of a towel which was very small so had to activate several times to obtain adequate paper for drying my hands. HIGHLY recommend the ladies room receive a thorough cleaning with attention to detail. This is a location that is in great need of some renovation, even some would be super great! The a/c vents also need to be cleaned & are very linty. The waitress was pleasant & checked back once after food delivery to see if I needed anything more. read more

I got the country fried steak breakfast meal, which was a disappointment. The steak was rubbery and not enjoyable, the rest of the meal was decent for diner quality food. That was the main problem. The second problem was that the cups of water were tiny, like only 6oz, with 1oz being ice and filled only 75%, giving you about 4oz to drink. This meant I was thirsty most of the meal, with only a single refill after I was "done" (leaving a quarter of my plate uneaten). The presentation looked good, but I won't post the picture since it will mislead people into thinking it was good tasting. I've had better luck with the omelets at the North Portland location, and the Shari's country fried steak is better (but still diner quality). I would not order this meal again nor would I come back to this location. read more

They do have crab Benedict, and it is excellent. My wife loved the fresh strawberry crepes. We eat out almost exclusively, across the us, this place lacks atmosphere and a cheerful staff, but the food and service is very good. We'll be back. read more

I ordered the country cousin skillet, when I stared to eat it I noticed that it had an odd flavor. I took a few more bites and it seemed ok. I started to cut it all up and mix it around. After that it was obvious some type of soap had gotten into my meal. At least that's what it tastes like. I reported it to the server she offered me another meal. By that point I was very much put off and not very trusting of what I'd get in return. She offered to give me a whole whopping 4.00 off. 4.00 off a meal I took about 6 bites of. Thats really lousy customer service if you ask me. Been a customer of the Elmer's for years and never had an issue. As much as I've given to them the one time they had the opportunity to give back to a customer that received a bad meal. They dropped the ball big time. Very displeased with my visit here. I think the management should hire some servers that actually smile and don't look so miserable. First off, I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast and when our server came and sat our plates down I was confused as I looked down at biscuits & gravy. I politely asked "is this the chicken fried steak" and she replied "no you ordered the biscuits & gravy." I then replied with "no I asked for the chicken fried steak" and she rolled her eyes and and grabbed my plate and mumbled "thats not what you said." Ive worked in the restaurant industry and I know that you NEVER talk to the customer in this manner. It was so unbelievably rude. Even my fiancé was shocked. Once she brought the right plate of food to me, she did not check on us until we were getting up to leave. She even had another waitress bring the check to us. Im in disbelief and cannot believe this is what the management is allowing and expecting of their employees. It was a simple mistake that could've been fixed so easily and instead she had a big attitude and argued with me. Will not be back. Came in with my grandpa for breakfast the other morning. Both ordered bacon and eggs over hashbrowns and coffee. Eggs were cooked per our request, hashbrowns were crispy, bacon was good quality. Coffee was nice and strong. Service was a little slow. Our waitress didn't check in quite as much as I'd expect. The restaurant was clean and quiet and friendly. Receding and waited patiently for 15 minutes to even get our drinks orders you notice another two tables that have just arrived I got drinks before we even got asked for ours. Spoke to the manager but he was of no help.
