I bought a ton of goodies from here, about 75$ worth (roughly 3 dozen) items. All of the pastries were amazing. The blueberry scones were amazingly good. I came in at about 630 and nearly wiped out the place lol. The bakery was pumping even that early in the morning. The shopping center itself is going through some renovations so a number of stalls were sectioned off for construction. The lady was very friendly and offered quick service. I will definitely have to come back and try the other items, especially the cakes. People describing the shopping center as ghetto don't know what they are talking about. read more

I absolutely LOVE their red velvet cake that my sister-in-law ordered for my baby shower last weekend. It wasn't too sweet nor was it bland, it was just right! Even those who don't have much of a sweet tooth enjoyed the cake. Cake just melted in my mouth and overall it was just perfect! I ordered the Lilikoi cake for my mom for grandparents' day at her request this weekend. Upon ordering, the lady warned me that the cake was sour and boy she was NOT kidding. I've heard of this place by word of mouth before. I think I tried a sandwich from them before. No sandwiches in site today but great looking deserts. We get the sweet bread, dinner rolls, custard donut, blue berry cream cheese scone and a brownie. Kind of pricey but everything was great. The sweet bread and rolls were for my parents, they almost ate them all in one sitting, but their wasn't that much to start with. The custard donut was just as it's name, filled with custard and tossed in sugar. Scone was something else. Tasted like a crusty pancake cooked in butter w/ prices of cream cheese and blue berries. Last but not least the brownie. Unbelievable!! Hard crust w/ a chocolate center that melts in you mouth but not in ur hand. Some organic milk and say good nite. Parking wasn't as bad as the price but all in all worth it, I guess when u use quality products u got to charge. Celebrated a birthday yesterday and was presented a gorgeous cake from Elvin's Bakery. Gosh, I didn't know too much about this place before but will definitely return! We tried the mango mousse cake...it's beautiful AND delicious. I loved the white chocolate piece they use to write the happy birthday message, it's like one of those beautiful cakes you see in Asian shows. But not only does the cake look beautiful, it tasted great! Not too sweet...just delicious. I read that it costs about 28 bucks for a cake which is a great deal considering the details that go into this cake. Definitely would come by again! read more

An asian-euro style bakery where the owners speak Mandarin and Cantonese :) I went around 7:30 AM to pick up pastries for my grams. The selection is decent with an emphasis on asian style baked goods. I picked up a blueberry cream cheese scone, red bean bun, charsiu bao, pineapple bun, pain au chocolat, ham and cheese croissant, and plain mini croissant. Heads up, the plain croissants weren't set out with the rest of the pastries but readily available from the back kitchen, just ask! Also, the plain croissants are mini-sized. Pain au chocolat: Crisp and slightly flakey outside with sugar glaze and milk chocolate sprinkles. The chocolate inside was gooey and richly sweet. Overall more than satisfying when you're craving a chocolate croissant, but not the epitome. Side note: I still haven't found the perfect croissant in Oahu... flakey, crisp outside and harboring light, airy, and buttery layers within. Recommendations anyone? Blueberry cream cheese scone: Mmm hmm, rich butter that crisps up the ends. The scone itself is mild until you hit pockets of blueberries or that yummy cream cheese :) I still prefer Diamond Head and Great Harvest. So incredibly good! Oh my gosh. I've just been coming here for breakfast. I get a little roll and some coffee. I want to try everything. Their dough is made with a little bit of heaven. It's ridiculous. Seriously, mind blowing. A little selection for a little shop, that varies slightly from day to day. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. The ham and cheese croissant is my favorite. It is the first item I'm hunting for to feed the need in my tummy. The other item I enjoy is this spam and egg in a roll. If you're a spam lover, then this is for you to try. It is the perfect breakfast on the run that makes my mouth smile. The other item I really love is Elvin's red velvet cake. The presentation is just too beautiful to eat. There's always "ooh's" and "ahh's" whenever I bring it to gatherings. And the taste is just as heavenly. Just a slice on my plate and I'm all set. i come to this place for my fix when I'm craving crown bread. OMG, its the trinity of flavor. When i travel to the outer islands, i always bring his stuff. Vietnamese baker learned French style. They have other pastries that are located in help yourself enclosed domes. However, my favorite is their Crown Bread. If you ask Elvin what time they come out, he'll let you have one after its cooled. That soft bread smothered with french custard and first press sugar..still warm, WOW! So if ever in the area, check them out, you wont be disappointed. read more

Just got a birthday cake here for my wife. It was not cheap, I think $35 for the Red Velvet cake. The cake was pretty good though. It was dense, they probably added cream cheese to the cake itself, with a nice cream cheese frosting. It was only 2 tier, so not huge. I prefer a more airy cake, but that didnt take away from the flavor. I still the CPK has one of the best Red Velvet cakes, but they dont sell whole cakes and each slice is $8. In any case, they have tons of dessert options, and all look really good. I just wish prices were a little less, but everything is still tasty. Parking can get rough, but I was told by the owner to just park in front handicap stall if too busy. Tip: Call in your cakes in advance and they can write names on white chocolate pieces, and avoid lunch hour if possible, the parking lot is a nightmare!!!!! read more

If it wasn't for the PA'I Arts and Culture Center I would never have known about Elvin's Bakery. The first two things I've tried from the bakery was the mango mousse cake and red-velvet cake. Wow! The mango mousse cake is by far the one of the best cakes I've ever had. Super moist, but not overly sweet and it makes you smile. There are quite a lot of baked good that you should try. The chocolate croissant is awesome. The chocolate muffins are awesome. The double chocolate brownie is awesome. Yes, all the chocolate baked goods are awesome!!! But, my new favorite baked good from here is the coconut tart. It's made just like a custard tart, but with a lot of coconut! If you like coconut and custard, then this is definitely worth trying. Elvin's Bakery is now the ONLY place I go to for cakes. They're so beautifully done, and they taste better than it looks. I love red velvet cake, and while they're delicious everywhere, I don't think I fell in love with red velvet until I tried the one from Elvin's Bakery. First of all, the cake is SO moist and and melts in your mouth, and it just matched so perfectly with the sweet (but not OVERLY sweet) cream cheese frosting. Honestly, I have not found a better red velvet cake yet, and I've tried them from all over Hawaii, and tried some on my trips to California and Seattle as well! Their other cakes are really delicious too. The strawberry shortcake is another favorite as well as some of their cheesecakes. So anytime I need to pick up a cake for a friend's birthday, I come to Elvin's and just pick up a new cake, and my friends ALWAYS enjoy them and reach for seconds. They also bake delicious pastries daily. It's always fresh, and if you go really early, you can feel the warm-ness of the pastries. I think I've basically tried EVERY pastry they offer here...the danishes, scones, donuts, manapuas, muffins, croissants, yeah...everything. And you know what..? I haven't found one I disliked. This bakery is conveniently located across the street from the Dillingham DMV, and there's always plentiful parking. If you're eating at Zippy's, forget the pastries and cakes from Napoleon's Bakery and walk a few more steps to Elvin's Bakery. It'd please your taste buds WAY more. If you don't live in town, there's also another location in Kailua. And if you haven't tried Elvin's Bakery yet, I suggest you get your butt here and take a bite of that divine red velvet cake. read more

I also have to mention that their loaf of fresh raisin bread is the best in town - better than Liliha's (I think besides the coco puffs, Liliha is so overrated) and St. Germain's (too dry). Their options for whole cakes were tiramisu, mango mousse, and strawberry shortcake. All three were $28. I would normally go with the ss, but decided to try the tiramisu this time and it was a success! Everyone, including my BF who doesn't like tiramisu, enjoyed the cake. Ordered the Mango Cake and Strawberry Shortcake for last minute birthday cakes. They were an absolute hit! Cakes were not heavy, it's like an angel food cake layered with a light cream filling. Sorry, but this place does not deserve anything over 3 stars. Went here today and got an assortment of baked goods. I do have to say that I did enjoy the curry doughnut and mini curry pot pie, however that is why this place isn't getting one star. Everything else I ordered was pretty bad, or just blah. The Japanese Cheesecake was dry and just not enjoyable. Same goes for the banana nut bread. Probably one of the worst banana nut breads I have ever had...I even threw it away. Elvin's is one of my preferred bakeries on the island. It seems to be like a fusion Chinese/Japanese bakery, so you have your typical stuff: red bean buns, scones, curry pan, coconut cream rolls, etc. I've tried several things here, and they have not disappointed yet. The prices are also great, compared to other bakeries. Stuff here blows St. Germain's out of the park. I would gladly go out of my way to come here for cheaper, tastier pastries and breads!
