Ordered the strawberry shortcake for my wife birthday recently. She loved it. Service was excellent as well

I learned about this place from the Top star Honolulu yelper Nadine C. She so thoughtful and bought cakes for so many other people's birthday, including mine from here. They were all delicious... I had to stop by here myself to take a look. His birthday was coming up (September) after mine (august). Men don't know of any dessert unless they walk pass one or Safeway bakery is their go to! I had to surprise him with something different! He also isn't from Hawaii so he is t as adventurous in wild asian dessert flavors. LOL. Green tea and red bean was not a hit for him and his roommate. They preferred the basic chocolate cake but I'm not basic! So, I pre-ordered a tiramisu with happy birthday written and was supposed to pick it up to surprise him but in the end he had to bring me here anyway.... They are closed on Mondays, had to pick up my cake on Sunday before closing. Located in the Kapalama Shopping Center. Convenient location and lots of parking. They have other bake goodies. I saw moon cake there too. Tiramisu was yummy! The sugared strawberry is my fave part. read more

This is my 2nd visit to this delightful little bakery and will not be my last. The gentleman that runs the shop is always friendly and inviting. Even though we came today right at closing and he was on a call he was pleasant and happy to help. So far we have tried several different treats and have enjoyed each one. All of their desserts are light and perfectly sweet which can be dangerous because you can keep on eating them. You can even get a gender reveal cake for $40! Free and easy parking in the Kalihi area. They personalized a mango flavored birthday cake for my co-worker. Nice flavor that I couldn't find at most bakeries in the area. Everyone in the office loved the delicate taste of the cake - not too sweet. They also have a nice assortment of daily pastries and breads. Will be back! read more

This adorable little nook is located in the Kapalama SC and is brimming with Japanese style pastries galore including other munchies like furikake lavosh, cinnamon toast, Sapporo bread, banana bread and you can't forget the cookies omg...we haven't even talked cake! Tiramisu, Strawberry Shortcake, Mango Mousse, and my personal favorite Red Velvet (HAPPY DANCE!) Cakes are 8" round and individual slices are my favorite because I can grab a few, you may order cakes in larger sheet sizes for special events and get it personalized which I've been so blessed with several times. Closed on Mondays but I called to see if anyone would answer, and someone did! So I place an order for an 8" strawberry shortcake cake, told them the writing for the cake and when I'd like to pick up. I picked up the next morning at 0930. Their shelves were filled with baked breads and goods. The strawberry shortcake cake was super delicious, the "cake" and whipped topping was super light and not overly sweet. No Cream Horns! :-( I came here for the cream horns, but was sorely disappointed to find that they no longer make them. After searching through many bakeries on Yelp, this was the only one on Oahu that had pictures of cream horns, and I psyched myself up finally try one. When I got there, the workers were busy with another customer and I stood there maybe 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged I was there. When they finally greeted me, I asked about the cream horns to which they informed me that they no longer sold them-- in fact they had done away with them years ago. Sadly, I looked around for something else to get since I didn't want to waste the trip. I settled for the cinnamon sticks and a slice of red velvet. Both pastries were good, but not what I came for. Is there no where on Oahu that sells cream horns? Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait until I get back to the mainland since my options are super limited here. read more

I called her for a last minute tiramisu cake and they were so friendly and accommodating! I wanted the cake in pieces already so that it would be easier to share out at work, and he had no problem saying yes. He even included HB white chocolate greeting which is usually $3 extra to add on. The tiramisu was so delicious and and the perfect pick me up dessert. The cocoa powder wasn't overwhelming like other places and you can tell that the sponge cake layers were freshly baked. I would definitely recommend Elvin's for your cake needs. How did I not know about this bakery before? Located in kapalama shopping center it is just the cutest bakery! We got an assortment of treats and tried the Japanese cheesecake, mango mousse cake and lychee mousse cake when we got home. They were all so light and delicious! Ever since Uncle Tetsu's left Waikiki (I'm still heartbroken that it's gone ) I've been on the hunt for a good Japanese cheesecake. When I am in the area, I will definitely be back to try some more of their baked goods. Beautiful cakes in Kalihi, Honolulu... My friend's birthday was coming up and I wanted a special cake to celebrate the occasion. I knew her (Chris Y.) before we became active in the Yelp Hawaii community, so I picked Elvin's Bakery because of the high quality and good reputation. The cake was perfect! Located in the Kapalama Shopping Center on Dillingham Boulevard, I've seen Elvin's because Zippy's, the former Violet's Grill, and Magnolia Ice Cream share the same parking lot. I walked in, hoping that the cakes weren't sold out. Luckily, there were five choices. I eliminated the Mango cake because Paul reminded me that Chris has a Mango tree in her yard. Somehow, Chocolate and Tiramisu didn't seem to match a Chinese dinner, so it was between Red Velvet and Strawberry Shortcake. The man standing behind the counter suggested the Strawberry Shortcake because it's light. Ok! Easy decision, then! I asked him if he was Elvin... yes! He was! No wonder he knew that the Tiramisu and Red Velvet were the richest cakes! Ahhh! Nice to meet you! See you again soon because DeeLite Bakery closed and the Red Ribbon Bakery in Kalihi also closed! This is one of my go-to spots for cake. If I am in need of a snack, I always go for a slice of the strawberry shortcake. The cake is so soft and the whipped cream frosting is great. I love that their cake is light and not too sweet. We also have ordered cakes for birthdays from here as well and it's totally worth it. We have had the strawberry shortcake, lychee mousse, and mango mousse cakes before and loved all of them. They are all really light, which makes it easy to eat it all! They also decorate their cakes with fresh fruit and a little chocolate card. They also have other baked goods there and I need to make time to try them all. Because it's located in a shopping center, parking is always easy to find there. Picked up mini milk breads so soft and pillowy! Also ordered chocolate muffins that are packed with chocolate chucks on top and chocolate cake bottoms so moist packed in 4 pieces clear bag! There are a variety of cake flavors to choose from and we got the mango mousse cake and the lychee mousse cake. They were delicious! I came to visit Hawaii for my Mom's birthday since she is buried on Oahu and my Auntie recommended I get her birthday cake here. I ventured there alone and google maps took me to the back of the building but I was able to find my way to the front parking lot after driving around. My Auntie told me to get the strawberry shortcake and I'm so glad I did! It was light, fluffy and not too sweet. I was on the phone with my cousin telling her how it reminded me of another chain Taiwanese bakery chain and grabbed a mini croissant, Chocolate croissant and a Portugués sausage pastry and everyone I shared them with said they were delicious! The lady working was very pleasant she mentioned that chain bakery is on the island now and that Elvins is a Chinese bakery with Japanese influence. She was very sweet and made conversation and wrote HBD on a piece of white chocolate that matched the cake. My last post on Elvin's Bakery on Dillingham Blvd. was a decade ago. Holy Hannah, time has flown by! Now that work is remote, we don't have the opportunity to visit Elvin's as much as we did previously. However, we've been there repeatedly for their Japanese Milk Bread which is yummy! We grill it with butter and add Bonne Maman Raspberry preserves. That yummy goodness paired with cold brew is simply divine! As an aside, their Vietnamese Iced Coffee is delicious! They have a selection both cold and hot coffee selections which go great with their pastries! Naturally, the family favorite Crown Bread and savory pastries are still enjoyed and have maintained their quality of taste. Elvin's remains one of our favorite go to bakeries, so go down and try their baked goods. You won't be disappointed! read more
