A---mazing!! After the reviews on yelp, I decided to give this place a try and boy am I glad I did. I got a prenatal massage with Alexis, followed by a mini facial with Katie. The ambiance was not quite as luxurious as some fancy spas but the actual massage and facial made up for it. I walked in 15 minutes prior to my appt time. But I was not led to the relaxation room. When Alexis came out to greet me, she took me straight to her room. Now as for the massage itself, I cannot say enough. Prior to starting, she asked if I had some trouble spots and when we started, I was in heaven. She applied the perfect amount of pressure and maintained it throughout the entire hour. I loved the pregnancy pillows that were used so that I could lie down on my stomach (which I haven't been able to do in months!!) From shoulders to my fingertips and down my whole body to my toes, she got everything and I have never felt so wonderful and relaxed after a massage. Afterwards I did get to visit the relaxation room and they had robes and slippers which I was wondering why I didn't get them prior to my massage. But no biggie. For my facial, Katie was equally amazing. I've gotten facials before, but my face has never looked as refreshed and youthful afterwards as it did here. I love that she examined my face with a microscope and bright light prior to starting. It meant a lot that she wanted to really understand what condition my skin was in order to give me the most effective facial. The scalp massage at the end was absolutely the cherry on top. If this was the mini, I cannot wait to see how the customized facial turns out! Both ladies were wonderful and I cannot say enough about their services! Amazing. I have no words for how awesome it was. There was a snafu with scheduling (I used the online booking) and it accidentally double booked but Sherry, who took care of me kept me totally informed, with updates and since the other party cancelled I ended up keeping my time. Go see sherry. Seriously the only reason I am telling you this is Im not local so Im willing to share. I got a neck, back and shoulder massage and a scale massage/treatment. Totally reasonable pricing, on schedule. I asked for a firm amount of pressure and I wasn't disappointed. Im a technician at a biotech company and my job is very physical. Sherry was firm enough that it hurt so good and today, the next day Im wonderfully sore. As soon as I felt like I was done with a spot being massaged, sherry moved to the next spot without me talking! It was like she had a connection to my brain and knew exactly what I was thinking. Also, after the requisite 2 shampoos, my hair looked AMAZING. Not to mention, if your favorite part of a shampoo is the stylist massaging your head, this is what you want. Seriously, if I lived here, I wouldn't tell you all this because I'd want to keep sherry all to myself. That said, I live close enough I WILL be back! Just amazing. read more

Cheryl was wonderful! I'm 24 weeks pregnant with all your typical aches and pains. Mix that with sleeping on a terrible hotel mattress, I needed help! She was able to see me same-day and was very detailed in our consultation, making sure she knew absolutely everything I needed worked on. She made sure I was comfortable and the massage was AWESOME! Why didn't I find this place sooner?!?! I'm leaving in two weeks, so in the midst of all the prepping, I decided to book a massage. I haven't had one in almost two years so I was really looking forward to today. Needless to say, I had an amazing time. The house (didn't realize it was a house! I got lost for a bit) was beautifully arranged and I was given a glass of champagne while I waited for my appointment. Quiet music and tasteful furniture added to the atmosphere of the place. The massage itself was amazing. Perfect pressure, not too light, but not too heavy. Jennifer knew exactly how to make me relax and I received the full 90 minutes (something that doesn't happen in some other places, despite you paying for it). The military discount was sweet, too! My only regret is that I won't have a chance to come back here for another session. I plan on booking a nail appointment though. Confident that the service will be just as good! read more

This place is pure magic. A groupon is what brought me here, and I've been twice after that. It's a super clean and relaxing environment overall. Shae is the best, I mean she listens to what you need (places you need some extra help, things to avoid) and totally delivers. The hubby and I have done the couples massage twice. The last time he mentioned he'd been recovering from a back injury and the lady he worked with recommended a great book on back injuries. He ordered it from amazon once we got into the parking lot. My sister and I went the for massages and they were amazing!!! The masseuses Sara and Susanna were beyond fantastic, it was truly an amazing experience. The one and only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars had absolutely nothing to do with the massages - the lady who was working at the front desk, Liz was rude and dismissive. She then charged me the wrong amount and then called me 30 minutes later with a horrible attitude when it was HER mistake. It took a little bit of the wonderfulness away but at the end of the day it was an amazing massage. Liz, it wasn't the adjustment in price and I don't want a refund. I received a service and I more than happily will pay for that service. Mistakes happen, it's not a big deal...as you are well aware, I didn't hesitate at all in having you charge me the correct amount. That is not the issue at all! It was the attitude both at the front desk and on the phone. And no, sorry to tell you, you did not apologize on the phone which really irked me and frankly I probably wouldn't have said anything on here about your attitude if you had. End of story. read more

I have been in pain forever! I have had massages, Pilates, Chiropractic therapy, stretched, changed mattresses quit jogging the hills of Monterey, and still kept the tightness and pain in my hip, leg and front of the hip. After a lovely relaxing 90 minute massage, Jean, hearing that I had a tight hip, hung my leg off the table into a stretch that pulled the sore muscles, and firmly placed her elbow onto the tight pressure points in my hip and butt. She worked on this area for no more than fifteen minutes, and un-locked my poor sore tight hip! I took two ibuprofin and a hot tub last night and today my leg and hip is pain free and almost completely flexible! If you have hip tightness that radiates up your back and down your leg, go see Jean! read more

While deep tissue is often about leverage, she can exert a ton of pressure with just her fingers and really made the massage unique as compared to anything I've had in the past. Came here for a couples massage for our anniversary. It's really got a tranquil, elegant and clean feel as soon as you walk in. The staff were all super nice too. We had a superb job done. I LOVED the heated beds, and hot towels they used!! They used the right amount of pressure. Just felt like I was in heaven! I feel like they ended 5 minutes early.. maybe they start their clock when we are undressing :( so maybe it's really a 55 minute massage even though they say it's 60 minutes. If so, they should be clear about that! Other than that we were very satisfied and will most likely return to this lovely place the next time we visit Monterey! read more

I really liked the atmosphere and the massage that I got. It was really relaxing. However, I removed one star because although I got there 10 minutes early for my appt, my therapist didn't come for me until 5-10 minutes after the appt started. I didn't think much of it since they schedule extra 15 min so i figure i will get my full 90 minutes. However, despite not starting my massage until 15 minutes after my start time; the massage ended 15 minutes before it should. So although I paid for a 90 min massage, I got 75-80 minutes at best. Could have used the extra time on my back. Not sure if it's a one time thing or if this happens more often but it did dampen the experience a little. But again my massage was very soothing and my therapist was really nice. Just wish I got all the time I paid for. read more

I feel obliged to write about the wonderful experience that I had at Elysium. I walked into this place on a Monday evening, just as Charlene was getting ready to leave. I was prepared to be turned away and asked to come back another time. To my surprise, I was greeted with smile and was welcomed for a facial wax that I shyly requested, given that I had no prior appointment. I was offered a seat as Charlene made the room ready for my service which allowed me to inhale the amazing aromas and relaxing ambiance that this place exudes. I was beyond satisfied with my short but very sweet experience - the end results were flawless. I'm definitely coming back here the next time I'm in need of spa services because I'm excited to experience the other services that they offer. I have been going to Elysium for a little over 2 years now and I love this place. Katy is my regular esthetician and she is always very professional and timley. They also offer every treatment you can imagine; from manicures and pedicures to spray tans, waxing, massages, facials hair cuts and more! The atmosphere in the spa is nice too with complimentary water bottles and relaxing music. The pricing is very reasonable. I was a full-time college student when I first started to going here and it didn't break the bank to make monthly appointments. I first found this place to celebrate my boyfriend and I's anniversary with a couples massage. It was only $150 for an hour for both of us! I look around at as many spas that i could find in the area and no one could beat the price. It's location is kind of weird and not really what i expected but none of it mattered. It looks like an office building in a partially residential area.I felt relaxed and calm even before the massage started. It was probably my third or fourth massage i have ever gotten and the first for my boyfriend. For me it was definately the BEST! Now we go back every year! We live in the bay area but I have been tempted more then once to visit Monterey just for this place! great customer service! After my first spray tan, I woke up with very orange skin and a lot of splotchy areas all over my body and it was just not pretty. But that's not what this review is about. It is about the superb customer service! I called to let them know and they were Immediately more than willing to refund my money. Additionally, Liz seemed sincerely sorry that the spray tan had taken so poorly and that I had to pass up on going to the Xmas party. Although I can't say exactly why the spray tan turned out so poorly on my skin, I do believe that Liz has had many succesful spray tans. My advice would be to go in way in advance (like at least a week) and have an inconspicuous area sprayed to see how your skin will take it. And, maybe only get one coat to start with. Oh, and while I'm at it, make sure to ask questions because I think there are probably lots of tricks and tips on how to prep your skin before the tan and for maintenence afterward so that you can have a beautiful tan and not be condemned to your house for a week! Do try this place.... service is helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is warm. There are several services to choose from and, as is evident from other reviews, the result of my spray tan is not the norm. read more

I have being going to Elysium for about 3 years now and even though I have relocated to the North Bay Area, I refuse to go anywhere else for my waxing needs. If you are as picky as I am when it comes to your eyebrows please see Charlene. She takes her time, is very precise and the environment is so peaceful I have even dozed off a few times during my appointments. Most importantly, my eyebrows are perfectly shaped after every visit! My husband and I went in yesterday for a couples massage and the massages themselves were fantastic! We both left totally relaxed and a little bit sleepy tbh. My only complaint is the constant waiting. Our appointment was at 4:30 but we didn't get started until about 4:45, once we were on the beds we waited probably 10 minutes for them to come in and when we were ready to leave we had to wait for a while to pay.
